Um…the election is over…the Democrats won. Are you giving post-election voting tips, because time machines haven’t been invented. BTW…the latter half describes all politicians from both parties. 😉
Sorry, the tense was wrong, I should have said “Alternatively we could have…”

Actually, Bush is even worse than a ‘tax and spend’ liberal, he’s a ‘tax cut and spend’ conservative. Not only does he spend more money than the government takes in in revenues, but the he goes and reduces our revenues further.
Say what you want but unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Bush’s tax cuts have created more revenue coming into the country and the deficit is going down much faster than predicted.

Here is an economics lesson for those who are mentally challenged by liberal propaganda…A friend of mine posted this on another forum filled with economically challenged liberals I changed the resteraunt name…

Let’s say I own a restaraunt called St. Peters Diner and it employs 100 people. This is a perfect amount for them, as for their budget they cannot employ any more. Taxes for these 100 people are lets say 1000 (10 a person).

Now, Bush comes and cuts taxes so these 100 people only now cost the buisness 700 (7 dollars a person).

This leaves an extra 300 for the buisness to put back into the buisness. It’s not being pocketed as liberals want you to believe.

Now, with this extra 300 St. Peters Diner hires 45 more people (at 7 dollars a person)…

So this brings St. Peter’s Diner total amount of people to 145.

These 145 people, costing the SAME AMOUNT post tax as 100 costed pre-tax. All 145 pay income taxes. Since there are MORE people working now then there were before, there is MORE INCOME TAX collected into the system…thus IMPROVING the economy.

I know this is a very elementary example, but some of you need that. As you can see, less taxes… = bigger numbers in the workforce = MORE INCOME TAX into government.

I swear most of you Democrats have been duped. You think these so-called “moderate” Democrats will go against Nancy Pelosi and the ultra-left wing leadership? Nancy Pelosi pumped millions and millions of dollars into these “moderate Democrats” campaigns. Therefore, they owe Nancy Pelosi everything. Therefore, they will not go against Pelosi and the ultra left wing leadership or they won’t be re-elected. It’s the oldest trick in politics and a lot of you people fell for it.

There are a lot of people on here that prove what Rush Limbaugh said today when he said that the country did not turn away from conservatism. The country turned away from the Republicans. The only way the new Democrats won is when they became conservatives because the Republicans didn’t have the guts to be conservative.

Another note…I hear about these Pro abortion Catholic congresspeople. As far as I am concerned there are no pro abortion Catholic politicians. Any politician who supports and voted for baby killing has automatically ex-communicated themselves from the Church and no action is required from the bishops since they automatically ex-communicated themselves.

So John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi…any other pro abortion politician…they aren’t Catholics.

Umm… I don’t know if you are providing this example for my benefit or others, but if you’re attempting to lecture me on economics, I really don’t need it. I have a master’s degree in public policy and am very familiar with economic theory. However, I might suggest that you consider in enrolling in a course on civil etiquette. Insinuating that people are ‘mentally-challenged’, ‘been living under a rock’, and condescendingly saying some people need elementary examples to understand economic principles is rude and very un-Catholic. I would suggest that you tone down your rhetoric if you are sincerely interested in engaging in a dialogue about issues.

By the way, your example is simply nothing more than a illustration of the supply-side economics that was espoused by Arthur Laffer, and promoted by Ronald Reagan. But that’s all that it is, an economic theory, not fact as you seem to imply. Individuals and businesses may reinvest money obtained through tax cuts directly back into the economy, and conversely, some people might just stick it in the bank and sit on it. Please show me empirical evidence that shows that the tax cuts are directly stimulating the economy. And don’t just state the fact that revenues are up because several factors other than tax cuts can account for revenue increases.

I guess the first attack on the trade center and the USS Cole attack doesn’t count as terrorism in your eyes.
and there have been plenty of attacks like those since 9/11, especially on US military targets, whats your point?

I guess you forgot about the first WTC bombing, the USS Cole, the US Embassy being bombed. That doesn’t even count the mess in Somalia that Clinton got us into.

Clinton devastated our military and he devastated our intelligence community. You do realize that the technology North Korea used to build the Atomic bombs was given to them by the Slick One don’t you? So I would go as far as saying Clinton created 9/11 and Clinton created the nuclear standoff in North Korea.
6 years out of office and clinton still gets blamed… strange, i dont recall anyone ever blaming reagan or bush the first whenever problems occured in the 90’s…

What liberals and people like you (I don’t know if you are a liberal or not) don’t understand is the Republicans can’t just pass a law making abortion illegal. The way they have to go about making abortion illegal is through the courts. President Bush and the Republican Congress is doing this through nominating and confirming pro life judges. (we hope) Now that the Democrats are in control Bush will not be able to nominate pro life judges.

A vote for the Democrats is a vote for abortion on demand all the way up to partial birth abortion.
no, congress didn’t need to go to any court. they have both the process of judicial impeachment or the states rights clause to invoke if they so wished to end abortion. the fact that they did not proves once and for all they don’t care about abortion

True - but how much would have gotten through with Clinton as President? Our majority was slim, and there were enough Rs that were “moderate” that these were major accomplishments (IMO).
Some of those “moderates” IMO are Rockefeller Republicans. I was glad to see Chafee go and would like to have a few more gone as long as the congressional changes were coming. The GOP senator from Montana was one of the biggest earmarkers in the congress and it is good to see him go. I would admire the Dems if they did something about earmarks, but I sure will not hold my breath for any party doing anything about that.

In Michigan we elected a Democratic Catholic Pro-Choice Governor over a ProLife Republican.

Um…no. Please show the instructions on how to impeach a Supreme Court judge. Regarding the states rights clause, that has been argued in the Supreme Court, but Roe v Wade was still upheld.

The only thing Congress could do is pass a law like the Partial Birth Abortion Ban (as they did, and which risks being struck down by the SCOTUS) or pass an amendment to the Constitution, which they didn’t have the votes for.

My condolences. This points up the problem in the Catholic Church. If all Catholics were pro-life there would be no problem with abortion. Fact is, there are more pro-abortion Catholics than not, and that really hurts.

the supreme court violated a state law by forcing it to consent to the court, overriding the state legislator. congress has its right to declare that court order null and void, and the states themselves can also do as such within the law, and there is nothing the court can do about it. and yes a justice can just as easily be impeached as any president or senator can

I guess the first attack on the trade center
…wasn’t in the last 4 years of the Clinton administration, now, was it?
and the USS Cole attack doesn’t count as terrorism in your eyes.
It’s a very different thing to have an attack on a state’s property abroad than an attack on your homeland. You’re not responsible for the homeland security of other countries.

Mike

None of that is good enough, so they’ve decided to give the Democrats a chance. I’ll be waiting in rapt attention for the list of pro-life accomplishments by the Democratic Party.
Do you judge it by a list of laws, or do you judge it by the actual number of lives lost? I know which I prefer - and the statistics are clear that the abortion rate has come down far more slowly since the Republicans were controlling everything than at any other time in the last 20 years.

Mike

Not to be outdone, the Bush administration put the instructions for making nuclear bombs on the internet for everyone to download.
So I would go as far as saying Clinton created 9/11 and Clinton created the nuclear standoff in North Korea.
I’m sure you would. An interesting idea that Clinton created 9/11 though. Was he flying planes that day?

Mike

or pass an amendment to the Constitution, which they didn’t have the votes for.
It didn’t stop them trying it with the definition of marriage though, did it? Was that just a stunt? And if not, then why not do the same with abortion?
