“I liked the United States. It was a pretty good system to live under, but it sure doesn’t appear that it is destined to live much longer. It may take a while longer before it breathes its last, so I’m not concerned so much for myself as I my years on this earth are dwindling, but I am concerned for my children and grandchildren.”

This is the exact same thought I had this morning. We can not possibly go on this way of killing the defenseless and generally treating life as a commodity. Something will happen. It always does, but I do grieve for what it may mean to children and grandchildren. There is still hope, tho. Things could still turn around if it is not too late for Western civilization.

As for Nancy Pelosi - somebody please shut her up!
NO, NO Let her speak her. Let her not govern in silence. She’s not going to only beable to attack now. She’ll have to start defending. She’ll have to try to keep the party in line. Not much you can change now as far as people in their positions. Just wait and listen. The house all comes up again in 2008. Congrats to the Democrates, I’m sorry you’ll need to govern now, and not just be a critic.

Don’t worry…pretty soon you won’t have Christmas music…you won’t even be able to mention Christmas. You will only be able to celebrate Ramadon or Quaanza.
Do you think that maybe you are overreating, just a little??

Huh??? The Republicans lowered taxes,
Yes they did
And raised spending at the same time
Say what you want about “tax & spend” but the GOP has lost it traditional conservative roots and has engaged in “spend & spend” and has laid the burden on our grandchildren’s backs
Stealing from the unborn isn’t as bad as killing them but don’t pretend that it is good.
……we got 2 justices in the Supreme Court that will most likely vote to overturn Roe V Wade.
That still needs to be seen. They are very conservative judges and not likely to overturn precedent or tolerate a constitutional end-run by the other branches.
Coincidentally the Partial-Birth abortion ban is going before the Court today so we should have an answer early next summer.
……It’s just more proof the American public is STOOOPID.
Sigh
Well it is their country too and you’re not going to win friends and influence people by name calling.

I love how all the Republicans seem to conveniently forget that in this country, with your party controlling the entire federal government for a LONG time now, abortion is STILL LEGAL! The republicans have sold the pro-life movement down river; republican is not a synonym for pro-life. Most Democrats that have been elected are conservative democrats. And, quite honestly, I am going to be far more concerned about the war that is currently killing our soldiers with no plan to end than I am about the abortion issue that continues to go around in circles. There are other issues at hand.

Go Dems!

While many voters are not educated on some, if not all, of the issues that candidates stand for and legislation that was passed, I would say that those of us who are educated in the truth have been silent for WAAAAAYYY TOO Long. To whom much is given, much is required. To just vote is not enough. We are educated in the TRUTH so we must also take action in educating as many as possible about that TRUTH. God may very well hold me and you more accountable than the most ignorant politician for the simple fact that we know the TRUTH. The only way politicians listen is if someone is loud and persistent. The extreme left IS LOUD AND PERSISTENT. Many Christians would rather bury their heads in the sand than become LOUD AND PERSISTENT with their elected officials and the media. Who screams loudest is always heard. And yesterday was proof of that (no matter how sad the reality makes me or anyone else feel).

:hmmm: Hmmm…That gives me something to chew on for a while.

New York made up of 41% Catholics voted Pro-Death. We should be ashamed.

Abortion is not going to be something that will be outlawed probably in any 2 year cycle. I guess I’d say it won’t matter if it is outlawed or not, so long as people want it. More focus needs to be even more on people than it is on government. That is not to say the government is unimportant, it is very much so. But if you keep the moment of people towards the pro-life camp, the more and more pro-life politians will be elected and not be silent on the issue. Even if there is a hic-up, the sooner it passes the better.

**Welcome to abortion-land! Where pro-choice Catholics dominate! **

Correction, there is no such thing as a pro-Choice Catholic.
There are only Catholics, on the one hand,
and heretics and apostates on the other, when it comes to abortion.

this is what people don’t understand: the republicans don’t give a damn about the pro-life base, they laugh at them behind closed doors, saying to each other how great it is to be elected by what they call useful idiots. i used to be republican but i refuse any longer to be a puppet to either party. if the republicans wanted abortion ended they could have done it in '94 when they reclaimed the house, in '00 when bush was elected, or even in '04 when they made even more gains. as of yesterday the white house was republican, the congress and senate were republican, the majority of the supreme court was republican nominees… what on earth was stopping them from ending abortion?! NOTHING! they could have done it! right there and then!

I’m ready to move to a desert island. Not only did the stem cell holocaust pass, but we voted in a majorly pro-abort senator here in Missouri. And Kansas, where I just moved from, kept our pro-abort governor, funded almost entirely by Dr. Death himself, Tiller, and kicked out the atty gen who was looking at his medical records. If the midwest, usually so much more in tune with life issues than the rest of the country, is falling this quickly, what is coming? Won’t be long til we’re like China and forced abortions are rolling down the pike. Sigh.
Jesus, come quickly!!!

Jaypeeto-
Will you give it a rest already? This thread is about election results.

Black Wednesday is upon us in Maryland. I cannot STAND Ben Cardin, he’s such a fake. I hated his commercials…“Ben Cardin stood up to the President…” No he didn’t. He acts like he got up in President Bush’s face and yelled at him or something. Bush could pound him in like 2 seconds, so could Michael Steele, he’s a big dude.
Yes, it is a shame that we don’t choose our elected representatives by barroom fights or feats of strength. 😉

I wonder how FDR would have done under that sort of system?

Jay,

Change the language. It’s not pro-choice - it’s pro-death.

To put it nicely, don’t tell m what to say, Pong.
The result of the Election
is that the Party of Perverts and Baby Killers won the House.
End of story.

Half hearted? You do realize President Bush nominated and had confirmed two pro life Supreme Court Justices don’t you? As long as Democrats have control that won’t happen any more and you will now get all pro death justices now. If you want pro life…vote Republican.
Not all Republicans is pro-life! Look at Sen. Specter, he is pro-choice. After he won the election back in 2004, he told Bush to make sure that he doesn’t pick any judge that would likely to overturn Roe & Wade.

and just a reminder… the majority of people did not go out and vote for the democrats because of their pro-abortion stance, but because they are sick of this stupid war.

but i wont hold my breath for too long, the democrats have proven in the past to be just as pro-war if not more so than the republicans at times. just look at world war 1, world war 2, korea, and vietnam

Maybe Festivus will become a legal holiday. 🙂
