I love how all the Republicans seem to conveniently forget that in this country, with your party controlling the entire federal government for a LONG time now, abortion is STILL LEGAL! The republicans have sold the pro-life movement down river; republican is not a synonym for pro-life. Most Democrats that have been elected are conservative democrats. And, quite honestly, I am going to be far more concerned about the war that is currently killing our soldiers with no plan to end than I am about the abortion issue that continues to go around in circles. There are other issues at hand.

Go Dems!
You are right about the new Dems in the Congress. Emanuel did a masterful job of selecting candidates to run against incumbent Republicans who were more in line with the thinking of the majority of Americans. But don’t expect them to have any influence over the far left wing of the party. If they want to be given committee assignments, etc., they will keep their mouths shut and do what Mrs. Pelosi says.

It’s cuz we’re now known as the “abortion capital”, instead of the “air capital”, these days. 😦
You are right about that. People from all around the country come to Wichita KS for abortions, and are willing to pay big money for late term abortions.

But, Catholics won big in Kansas. Only thing is, the two Catholics who won biggest–the governor and attorney general, are both “pro-choice” Catholics.

Who says Kansas is a conservative state?

Every issue is secondary to the right to life. If we don’t have a right to life, no other “right” has any value. So, people should vote life first. There is a reason why our Declaration of Independence lists life as first. Ending abortion is not a false hope, but it does take people to learn about and act on the truth.
I’m with James 1441 on this one. I keep hearing this line “vote Republican and support life.” But other than the Partial Birth Abortion Ban (which was great), what else have Republicans done for pro-life. Some of them talk a good game, but in their 12 years of House rule, 11 years of Senate rule, and a Republican president for six years- what have they done. Seems to me like the some Republicans just use the pro-life issue to get votes, but don’t make it much of a priority.

Casey is pro-life.
Casey claims to be pro life, although he won’t ban morning after bill. But still he claims to want Roe V Wade overturned. Why not give Casey the benefit of the doubt there when it comes to Roe.

No, he hasn’t talked much about abortion and has been vague, but maybe its becasue he didn’t want to scare pro-choice Democrats…

Maybe he’ll turn out to be his father’s son or at least have Dad on his conscience. It takes some guts to be a pro life democrat…

I honestly think that in someways may Republicans (I’m not talking about Rick) don’t want abortion to go. I also think that abortion won’t go until hearts in this country change… The goal shouldn’t be just making abortion illegal, it should be getting rid of it. (And I am someone who does want it illegal)

No offense, but they already lost…now the Democrats are in charge. You can keep pounding away on the “Republicans are not really pro-life”, “what have they done”, etc. But, now you will expect what from the Democrat-run Congress?

Worse yet, what does a party do when they lose? They move to the center. That means the pro-life candidates will be tossed aside next election, in order to run an “electable” candidate against the Democrat incumbent.

I’m ready to move to a desert island. Not only did the stem cell holocaust pass, but we voted in a majorly pro-abort senator here in Missouri.
Missouri even went beyond favoring the destruction of embryos for stem cell research. By enshrining it in the state constitution, they took the issue off the table entirely for current or future discussion. A loss not only for life but for political discourse.

PS–and also a big win for the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, located in KC, MO.

Amendments can be repealed…I’ll drink to that! 🙂

Did I say I wanted to kill millions of people? Because of the liberals agenda of stopping wire tapping of terrorists, ending interrogation tactics that work on terrorists, and dismantling the intelligence community, not to mention allowing illegal aliens uncontrolled access to our boarders will allow terrorists to make a major attack on the US and it will most likely be a nuclear attack.

The morons in this country that voted for Democrats voted out a Congress and President who has the best economy we have had in many years…even better than when Slick Willy was in office. A President and congress who has kept this country safe since 9/11. A president and Congress who was working to end the Culture of death in this country.

Now that the Democrats own both houses of congress Bush will never be able to confirm a pro life judge which means Roe V Wade will be with us for many generations more.

The Devil was the true winner in these elections…and Osama Bin Laden is dancing in his cave.
I don’t know what papers you have been reading, but I’ve seen nothing about the Democrats wanting to dismantle the intelligence community. To the contrary, I’ve heard a lot of talk about implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 Committee to better protect our country. That’s where our focus should be, not Iraq.

And the economy doing well? Well, that’s relative I guess. Under “Slick Willy” the government had its first budget surplus since the Eisenhower Administration and under Bush, we have the biggest budget defice ever.

Sure, and about the Devil winning the election. Seems like the Devil was busy at work with the likes of Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, and Duke Cunningham helping them line their pockets with lobbyist largesse. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s a good thing when voters hold their party accountable for corruption, out of control federal spending, and getting us into a war that we didn’t need to be in and is costing the country hundreds of millions of dollars.

People haven’t changed. When Noah was building the ark, the people laughed at him and as a result died. In our time, Mr. Bush was sent to “build an ark” so to speak, and again the people laughed. God set before us the choice between life and death and abjured us to choose life, but we have chosen death. God has given us free will, and has no choice but to honor our choice. I liked the United States. It was a pretty good system to live under, but it sure doesn’t appear that it is destined to live much longer. It may take a while longer before it breathes its last, so I’m not concerned so much for myself as I my years on this earth are dwindling, but I am concerned for my children and grandchildren.
You’re comparing Bush to the great biblical prophet Noah? God had Noah build an Ark to save all of God’s creatures, not to go to unnecessarily go to war with a neighboring tribe and destroy the lives of his people.

This one will be repealed. When it’s back on the ballot in '08 it will have honest ballot language and will easily be defeated. Unless of course it gets outlawed in the federal courts first.

Yes they did
And raised spending at the same time
Say what you want about “tax & spend” but the GOP has lost it traditional conservative roots and has engaged in “spend & spend” and has laid the burden on our grandchildren’s backs
Stealing from the unborn isn’t as bad as killing them but don’t pretend that it is good.
Actually, Bush is even worse than a ‘tax and spend’ liberal, he’s a ‘tax cut and spend’ conservative. Not only does he spend more money than the government takes in in revenues, but the he goes and reduces our revenues further.

Perhaps. Bush’s position on immigration reform is a compromise position - he had opposition from both parties. Some Republicans think it’s amnesty, some Democrats think it’s too tough on immigrants. It will be interesting to look at the changes in people (i.e. did we lose immigration hardliners and/or pick up open border extremists?).

It will indeed be interesting to see how Bush acts. Will he take up the veto pen, as a lot of Republicans expect or will the uniter originally promised resurface? It’s his last two years…no reelection.

Certainly, I don’t expect to see much bending on the completion of the goals in Iraq. Cut-and-run won’t be on the table.
I’m not sure why it has to be one or the other on some of the issues you mention. There is always a middle course which is why having a government that governs from both sides is generally a good thing. You take the best from the conservative side and the best from the liberal side and you get a pretty good deal. Hopefully, this will happen.

As to how Bush will deal with this, in about an hour and a half-he’ll be giving a press conference. We’ll see his reaction then.

Actually, revenues increased 30%…why? Because the tax cuts increased revenue. Why? Because the tax cuts helped the economy recover.

Now, on the spend part, I agree with you. They should have cut programs that don’t belong at the federal level.

Bush agrees with you regarding immigration. However, you still have to get enough from both sides to approve your “middle course.”

Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Allows babies born alive during abortion attempts to get the medical care they need rather than be left to die on a cold counter.

Put most succinctly, Lance.
Agreed. It’s just sad that so many decided to cut off their nose to spite their face and vote democratic instead of choosing a candidate who might actually do what they know is right – i.e. a 3rd party

Agreed. I’ve believed this for quite a while now. I’d love abortions to stop. Making it illegal will diminish it but it will not eliminate it completely. Only by moving our culture to one where human life is truly considered a sacred thing will abortions stop. That’s a difficult task but through the prayers of our Mother si se puede!
