Yes, Romney was a poor candidate, but I think it was ultimately a question of “takers” outnumbering “makers”. We’ve changed as a nation. I don’t think even Ronald Reagan could have won this time around.
I agree that “takers” have superior numbers. Americans will vote for the party that supports asset redistribution from hereon in.

MODERATOR WARNING

This thread is for the discussion of election results only. Members who insist on discussing other subjects will find their accounts suspended

Has anyone else heard that Obama is up in OH and FL but much of the vote left to come in is from Democratic areas such as around Toledo and Cleveland and in FL from Democratic areas Broward County and Miami? I confess I’m watching CNN and MSNBC.
I’ve heard he will probably be the winner in OH and FL. It’s close and the votes keep coming in.

In what sense? That they haven’t called the election yet? Or that it’s too early to say America has chosen a secular socialist path under Obama (assuming an Obama victory tonight)?
The first one. As for the second, I don’t believe that America as a whole wants a socialist path. Obama has been masterful at painting himself, who is far far left, as a moderate, and Romney, who is actually a moderate, as far far right. The media by and large have enabled this to a great degree.

Yeah, Rev. Childress says a black child is 5 times more likely than a white baby to be aborted and Planned Parenthood is the sacred cow of the Democrats, Hispanics have passed African Americans as the largest minority. Democrats really show a lot of love for the minorities.
I’m not going to get into a debate over this on this thread (maybe another thread).

The point is that there is a reason why Republicans are seen as caring about only the rich. Instead of dismissing minorities, it might be smarter to educate.

Elizabeth Warren giving her victory speech right now. And MSNBC calls VA Senate seat for the Democrats.

I admire your optimism, Jason.

At least the Republicans are gaining strength in the House, which is bad news for Obama’s Supreme Court nominations should they be too liberal.

Yeah, it’s that the Democrats are the party that started the Klan and are still the party of bigotry. And try to scare everyone by calling others bigots. Their system will collapse eventually.

Romney declared winner of NC. So this is not over, what if Romney gets FL?

We’ll see. I’m pessimistic that we can do anything about it, barring a significant change in the ethics and responsibility of the media.

I’m not saying that tonight looks good for Romney. It doesn’t.

Romney just won NC, which helps, but the road is still long and tough.

local unicameral races in two districts here in nebraska have me upset…Possiby lose a district that has been prolife senate seat for at least 12 Years. Other district is my brother’s area… The negative democrat is currently leading (hateful ads include saying
the other candidate would rather a woman die than terminate pregnancy, which is the typical Democrat lie!) only glimmer of hope is Deb Fischer leading…

There were still people who had not voted in Miami at 10 pm. Polls closed at 7, but the lines were that long.

It is the Senate Judiciary Committee, and then the full Senate, that votes on Supreme Court nominees.
