so what does this mean for the catholic church as a whole? is obama really going to try and force the church to hand out birth control pills etc?.

I have to admit, out of all of the other elections we’ve had in the past that this is the first election that i actually cared about and wanted Romney to win. I am highly pissed off by the out come. We are going to be further in the mess by the end of 2016. What a sad day for America, welcome to hell for the next 4 years :(.

A good place to start in my mind would be to come to the table willing to ask the richest among us who can most afford it, to sacrifice and contribute more in taxes and also cutting defense spending before they ask the poor and middle class to make severe sacrifces. And as another poster previously mentioned, for them to stop wasting time on things such as on votes to repeal Obamacare that are not going to happen. I know when they gained the House 2 yrs ago, they spent a lot of time on abortion. At least now we won’t have the Senate GOP leader saying their main goal is to keep Barack Obama to 1 term. It is time to accept Barack Obama is the POTUS and begin to work together where we can.
So, people should forfeit their core values? A person should compromise with what they think are wrong and somtimes outright evil policies, just so they get along?

No…I really can’t understand what you have written. Are you saying that the early settlers should be our model? That doesn’t change the fact that most Americans share the same basic beliefs as citizens…not just Republicans.

BTW, the Celts were in England well before the Normans or Saxons.

You need a primer in British tribal history. They’ve done DNA studies.

So, I was jogging at the gym today at lunch (too cold outside) and watching the news. At the bottom was the results of national exit polling. I thought it was very interesting:

Obama voters:
Minority
Women
Mothers
18-44 age group
People who don’t attend church
Catholics

Romney Voters:
Whites
Men
Fathers
45+ age group
People who attend church weekly
Evangelicals

A stark contrast.
Yup, wait til the HHS mandate takes effect.

People compromise on politics. People don’t compromise on religious doctrine. That’s the difference.

We have a small number of activists in the Catholic church who just cannot comprehend the difference between the two things–politics and religion.

Catholics in the United States are also only about 5% of the global Catholic Church, and that figure is the most generous figure anyone has come up with. I personally believe we’re a much smaller share based on weekly mass attendance which is currently about 20% of that 5%. Do the math. The Church isn’t going to change her teachings on our account, even if they could. Not to worry.

I wondered when Goodwin’s law would come up.
Well, you know, there was a period of about 15 years in Germany when it wasn’t yet Godwin’s law. It was reality. It did happen and there is no guarantee that it won’t happen again.

One thing Goodwin asserts is that Nazi/Hitler analogies are used inappropriately. They are often irrelevant to the discussion. He states that if a thread goes on long enough, then such an analogy will eventually be made, regardless of relevance.

Because of that, he believes that one should be cautious in using such an analogy, because otherwise its meaning is diluted. Like using the word “gay”.

Are you saying Godwin’s Law is gay?

Yes…and yes…and PEACE be to you - and don’t forget to read between the lines - the richest among us needing to sacrifice and contribute more…the Marxist ideal is the new god for now - to the detriment of eternal salvation.

Only when they conflict with the core values of the Left
