Here is the reply I got from ESPN:

Thank you taking the time to write.

Ms. Jacobson’s inappropriate comments were delivered in the context of Notre Dame football and its Touchdown Jesus icon . They were wrong and inexcusable , and she was suspended from her duties. Her uncharacteristic behavior was not aimed at a particular religious faith. They took place at an adult-only roast that was not aired on any ESPN outlet.

We appreciate your giving us the opportunity to respond.

Looks like they plan on doing nothing.

She gets a two-week PAID vacation. Don’t expect ESPN to champion against Christian bias.

Dana jacobson KNOWS who are the chieftans at ESPN and KNEW she would get a pass.

The bias in not just with Jacobson it is with the heads of ESPN as well.

Hmmm… f___ Jesus. Not aimed at a particular religious faith? I wonder what faith she was talking about? If she had said f___ muhammed she would have been fired and lambasted across the networks!

Christianity - the only acceptable discrimination.

I would say lets forgive her and pray to the Lord she coursed that she may repent and come to know him. God bless.

That is a good petition. But there is n underlying evil with all of the blasphemies agaist Our Lord here in America. They are becoming more and more frequent. The movie industry is a huge part of the denigration of the Son of God (DaVinci Code, etc.)…the media has a large hand in it as well. Add to the list the ACLU which goes about the Country removing all references to Christmas and even stifling “Merry Christmas.”

Ms. Jacobson is a part of this movement knowingly or unknowingly.

So, what can we look forward to with all this?

Persecution will follow…this is how it begins: first it’s derision and wholesale persecution is close behind. ESPN is a part of this montage. Stayed tuned, fellow Christians…it’s already started in America.

There seem to be 2 prevailing schools of thought here. I don’t think either is intrinsically right or wrong. I think both groups are equally entitled to their opinions.
  1. Ms. Jacobson has already been punished by the network with a one week suspension. That is sufficient.
  2. Ms. Jacobson’s suspension by the network is insufficient and is just a cosmetic attempt by the network to pacify.
If like me, you fall in to the 2nd group, I urge you to do something about it. If you do nothing, then for all intents and purposes your silence will automatically put you with group 1. Write to the parent company of ESPN and complain, vociferously. You can reach Disney Corporation at ‘TWDC.Corp.Communications@disney.com’ Tell them you are done sampling ALL of their products. This is the ONLY language they understand. An old mentor of mine in the secular world once told me, “Silence means agreement.” I think that holds true here. If we just complain to one another on these threads it will mean NOTHING to Disney. If you truly believe #2 above, what will you do about it??

I fear you are right and that Catholics will be the first to go.

Those in good standing will be guided by the Holy Spirit in these days of days. They will also recognize the oncoming persecution. It is God’s way of embracing His own, I believe.

Yes. Clearly a drunken rant at a celeb. roast is a sign of End of Days.

**You do not quite understand…it is the AURA that I am spotlighting. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough… It is NOT just the so-called comic (Jacobson) it is something many Christians see in progress. **

It is the tolerance that such an extreme rant is given that is a sign of the begining of tolerance for persecution, not the end of days.

I think that a lack of violent reaction from the community that is in the clear majority of this country is not a sign of tolerance for persecution. I don’t know what it is, if anything, but I don’t believe it is an omen of persecution.

How would you feel if a Catholic personality had made comments like this about the Jewish religion? Since you are not Christian you are not qualified to tell us how to feel just as us Christians are not qualified to tell you Jews how to feel about comments against you.

I’m not telling you how to feel. I am saying it isn’t a precurser to Catholic prosecution. If you are at a party where there are 200 men and 2 women, and someone is making jokes about women in the bedroom, and you are one of the two women, you are going to most likely going to feel violated or at least uncomfortable.

If you are at a party with 200 women and 2 men, and one man makes a joke about women in the bedroom, it isn’t going to have the same effect, IMO.

In your entire lifetime as a consumer, have you ever had the experience that the customer service (or the quality of the product, etc.) was so bad that you just flat out decided never to patronize that establishment again? What is so different here? Why should I just “drop it” and continue to give my time (which equates to money for the advertisers) to ESPN?

And if you have never done that as a consumer, could you please send me a list of all the establishments where you buy your goods? 😉
If I generally liked the establishment, but thought the particular service I received was that poor, I might tell a manager. If he assured me that it would be dealt with, then I would probably patronize them again. Here, ESPN and Jacobson have dealt with the problem to my satisfaction (and the Catholic League’s). I am not going push for her to be fired. Such a drastic move for her personally does not seem necessary in light of her apology. If she makes further similar comments while representing ESPN, the situation should be reassessed. I will give her the benefit of the doubt for now though that she will reform.

Funny, isn’t there anti-trust laws in America? Monopolies are against the law.

ESPN IS A MONOPOLY, IMO.

This is a very good point and one which more Christians should remember, particularly when reading Jesus’ comments about not being ashamed of your faith. But that’s another thread.

I still say this woman is more an object of pity than scorn. She’s an idiot after all.

There is no evidence she has done this before…She made an inappropriate comment a private event. I can look back on my career and think of several times I’ve made inappropriate comments and thank God I didnt get fired for it. I wonder if we’re taking out our frustrations at the constant criticism of the Church gets on this young woman?
