Ms. Jacobson’s inappropriate comments were delivered in the context of Notre Dame football and its Touchdown Jesus icon . They were wrong and inexcusable , and she was suspended from her duties. Her uncharacteristic behavior was not aimed at a particular religious faith. They took place at an adult-only roast that was not aired on any ESPN outlet.

We appreciate your giving us the opportunity to respond.

Lance, would you consider forwarding us the e-mail that ESPN sent to you? Fighting Irish Thomas is covering this (and the Majerus incident) which is a hit to Catholicism as well, and he will certainly respond regarding ESPN when given the time. ESPN is not the ultimate source of control here. Disney is. The Disney media empire owns ABC, the Disney Channels and ESPN. Perhaps targeting Disney with protest letters may be more effective.

The attention was, seemingly, detoured to Disney since ESPN is a subsidiary of Disney. This is why I wished to remain on “ESPN.” It was a roast sponsored by ESPN; Dana Jacobson was being paid by ESPN; ESPN rebuked Ms. Jacobson.

Disney may be the “BIGGER PICTURE” but ESPN keeps this more localized. 🙂

My only point was, if ESPN is ignoring you, kick it up a level. That would be to Disney. If you get bad service at a store (ESPN), you complain to the Manager about it. If they do nothing, you contact the store owvner (Disney) to make you complaints known.

**I agree; Disney should be contacted but only as the final thrust.

ESPN, IMO, must be saturated first to try to make an indelible impression on them (not that it will but just to let them know we’re “out there”)

ESPN is sports network MONOPOLY and I often wonder how is it they have never been challenged with "ant-trust lawsuits?

Where is the ACLU when you really need them ?**
 
I almost feel like a cartoon prophet with long hair (I am bald), a robe and a sign saying the end is near. I am astonished at how fast we have been falling apart since prayer was taken out of school. Thats why I keep saying pray, pray & pray some more.

As John Paul II told my husband’s boss when he saw him after a private audience (and the boss stated that he prayed for JPII), “But you must pray mooooooore.” He said it with volume too. I love it!

No. ESPN is a sports magazine. It covers the major sports such as NFL, Baseball, Basketball, ESPN does NOT have a “Swimsuit Edition” a la Sports Illustrated (which I do NOT subscribe).

I stay away from naughty mags…they can damage a soul. .
