yes, we need to pray for the orthodox church also. i did not mean to leave them out!! we must keep them in our prayers!!
i remember when the chechnyan terrorists took over the school in breslan, i think was the name of the town. there was a show i saw on tv about it.
what a terrible things for those children to go through.
since you are from ireland, i would like to hear of the current state of the Catholic church or christianity as a whole in ireland these days.
 
thanks for that update on ireland and northern ireland. i admit i don’t have a lot of knowledge, about the politics in ireland and northern ireland, but i do remember the IRA.

my dad’s side of the family were irish catholics. this is very sad news to hear that even the irish are losing their faith. at least some denominations are strong. i am glad to hear that abortion is still illegal in ireland. that is one thing we can be happy for.

it sounds very complicated and that there is a lot of anti-catholicism.

i am beginning to think that the Roman Catholic church might need to start a public relations campaign worldwide. i am being facetious, of course.

so indeed we need to pray for the Catholic church in all parts of Europe.

I don’t think that you’re too far off though. The Church’s ambassadors in all walks of life, us, fall short of the Christian ideals very often, effectively giving scandal instead of being a blessing to others.

May Jesus have mercy on us.

Indeed, looking at what goes on in Eastern Europe I see two patterns: one, unabashedly Catholic countries like Poland and Croatia where some indicators are actually falling, such as Mass attendance, though from a lofty position. The other, mostly Orthodox countries where the Churches were co-opted by the Communists and now strive to be national, ethnicity-centric Churches.

I don’t think that the Church can ever rest on laurels, such as in Poland. Or else, something like what happened in Latin America could be repeat, where the lack of catechesis made the faithful vulnerable to Protestantism and led to relaxed mores, to the point that in countries such as Brazil the Church loses 10 %-points among the population each decade, going from over 90% Catholic in the 70’s to about 70% nowadays.

With affluence and the selling out of “Hollywood values”, a poor foundation of the faith may lead countries like Poland and Croatia the same way, as it seems to be the case in Ireland.

you make many good points augustine. who would have thought that in latin america or mexico the number of Catholics would decline, but that is indeed what is happening. we can’t underestimate the powers of these protestant evangelicals who have pulled so many people away from the Catholic church.
i am sure they preach a lot of anti-catholic rhetoric and to those who don’t have a solid foundation of the Catholic faith, they are easy to be swayed.
 
I think the West is having a general malaise because of the post-war society and the radicalism of the 60’s, I think we are seeing small groups of youth rejecting the madness of the radicals, and are seeing the wisdom of the past. Believe me, the Church and the Secular World does this every so often, where everything is looking like it is falling apart, but it survives and will continue to survive and thrive despite what the Zeitgeist of the Time may say. It happened in the Roman Times, the Viking Times, the Avignon Papacy, the Reformation, and the French Revolution. When the odds are stacked against the Church, the Church always wins. However, it is painful what is happening in Europe, the last of my ancestors. I find it interesting that I hear about 800000 who come out to Lourdes to hear the Pope speak or a million lining the streets around the Vatican, and it only reminds of Exodus, how people keep whoring despite all that God has done for them, the title of Children of Israel is still relevent and like those Children of Israel, many of us are sadly going to be left behind.

Wasn’t the crowd mourning the passing of JPII the largest crowd ever in history? Indeed, there are many signs that give us an assured hope that the Church always, always prevails. Not only in spite of the spirit of the time, but also in spite of the Church itself, rather because of Who is her head, Jesus.

Imagine how much Catholicism would grow if all Catholics didn’t use birth control? Most Catholics would have six children, and would go on to have 36 grandchildren, and 72 great grandchildren etc.

And blame it all on Vatican II, and the liberal clergy we have now!!. Their is no liberalism in Islam. You figure it out!.
 
We sent all those missionaries to Africa back in the 60’s and 70’s. Now we need those missionaries in Europe, UK, and the US big time. But this time the Catholic Church will not have the same luck. They will loose to Islam and Atheism. And the Pope is powerless, because his clergy don’t want to follow him and go back to their Catholic identity. They want to be Protestant. They say they love him, but ask them to offer or learn the EF Mass or anything that has to do with traditional Catholicism and spirituality, that the young are yearning for. And they are defiant as can be. So the youth move on to different religions or give up on everything and the liberal Catholic clergy sit back scratching their heads. Not being Anti-Catholic here but just telling it how I see it. Through a traditional Catholic’s point of view.

The answer is *discipleship. *Each of us must set the best example possible, work hard, and hope for the best. It’s a matter of God’s will.

I been researching Hitler life and back ground going all the way back to his mother, brothers, sister grandparents and his great grandparents.

What do you find was the position of Miroslave Filipovac at the Jasenovac concentration camp? Was he responsible for the torture and murder of many Serbs and was he associated with the Catholic Franciscan clergy?

I have a picture of Miroslav Filipovic-Majstorovic taken during WWII and it shows him dress two different ways. One he is dress as a Croat Franciscan friar and the other shows him dress as a fascist.

The only reason I can’t send it is that it is attached to something that anti Jews. But the picture say’s a lot. He is a Catholic Religionist from what I see it can not be mistaken any other way.

If I can find picture not attach to any said artical I will send it to you in future chat.

Such a brutal animal as Filipovic who was both fascist and Franciscan friar is overwhelming! I remind myself that Lucifer was an angel, Judas had been hand picked by Jesus as an Apostle… I never say so and so will not be saved but in a case like this how can one doubt that Filipovic is certainly burning in hell with Hitler and all the other evil people in the history of humanity.

On asks oneself if his superior told him to leave the fascist movement why was Filipovic not expelled when he failed to do so?

Well why should there be all that hate between Croatians and Serbs? Isn’t the main difference between Serbia and Croatia one of religion: one has the Catholic, the other has the Orthodox religion?
