That collapse was likely due to the Social Democrats vowing to crackdown in illegal immigration and restrict immigration.
Interesting. Commentators are discussing whether other Social Democrat parties across Europe should take note of this policy change for their own platforms, I’ve heard.

Oh, update. Far-right populists also down in Greece:

This is really not turning into a good election at all for right-wing populists.

If I may ask, what do you think the reasons for this vote slump are for Sinn Fein?

On the other hand, perhaps it’s that Ireland is starting to leave behind an old politics?

Well, you’d know better than me but there seem to have been great changes in social attitudes in the Republic over recent years, perhaps unity might come from people all over the island voting Green, just not the same Green as it used to be.

Amazingly good for them thus far. But fully expected.

They have been the governing party in Scotland since, what, 2007?

Showing no signs of losing steam. Sturgeon’s pro-EU stance has gone done well even with non-nationalist voters.

They are showing other major, ‘establishment’ parties how its DONE.

Of course, but he topped the EU election via UKIP in 2014.

The key question is how well is he doing this time relative to last time?

I think he’s doing better this time but we don’t yet know precisely by how much.

I suppose the other side of it for the UK is frequently when you add up all the remain party results together, they’re coming a very strong second or even beating the Brexit Party. That’s something I’m glad for, and something I don’t want to get lost in the Brexit party’s success.

What it all seems to show is that the poisonous divide Brexit brought gets more and more entrenched.

Yes, the Brexit Party seem to be picking up the UKIP vote more than anything else, although I don’t doubt traditional voters of other parties are disaffected and voting Brexit.

It does make me wonder what would have happened had the remain parties worked together some more.
