A Catholic has to agree with all what the Church teaches. They cannot disagree. If they did, they would be heretics. Look at Arius and Nestorius. They disagree with Church teachings and the Councils condemned them as heretics.
I always thought that one must teach error to be a heretic. One can hold error, but not teach it.

The questions lies on who has authority. The Church or individuals? I tell you the Church has final authority.

Church history shows that no mere man has authority. It has always been Church Councils. Starting with the Council of Jerusalem.

Let me make a clarification. Many Ex-Catholics here and offline often told me. “I used to be Catholic then I learn about the Bible and I found the CC is not the Biblical Church. So you should too leave and join our church.”

Now I don’t know why I should make the conclusion just because an Ex-Catholic received a “private revelation” that Catholicism is false then I should leave. I do not believe them any more authorized than the next guy.

To find the truth Church, you have to see what history has to say. I found out that the Church established by Jesus Christ is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. No Protestant Church matches this.

Eastern Orthodox got it but they do not have the Keys of the Kingdom. Only the Catholic Church has the keys of the kingdom.
That’s quite different from your original post. I would never try to turn you away from something that is so obviously important to you. You originally seemed to come across as a militant Catholic which is not such a good thing for you or the Church. Militant religious views have resulted in people flying planes into tall buildings ya know.

I am happy that you love your religion but you would be a more effective witness if you toned it down a bit.

Actually, I belong to Church Militant. The Church is describe as:

The Christian Church, or Church Universal, is traditionally divided into:

the Church Militant (Ecclesia Militans), comprising Christians who are living,
the Church Triumphant (Ecclesia Triumphans), comprising those who are in Heaven, and
the Church Suffering (Ecclesia Penitens) or Church Expectant (Ecclesia Expectans), comprising those Christians presently in Purgatory…
I am happy that you love your religion but you would be a more effective witness if you toned it down a bit.
I love my faith because Jesus Christ founded only One Church and it’s the Catholic Church and there no other Church like it.

Ex-Catholics in this forum persumed to know and understand the Catholic Church. However, they do not. If they did understand the Catholic faith they would never leave in the first place.

Ex-Catholics are just another clone copy of Martin Luther.
I have said the same thing about ex-Adventists; how that they are not really “experts” on Adventists either.

After being on this forum for close to two years; I do have some reliable knowledge of Catholics; however, as I am constantly told here;I “do not correctly understand.”

I don’t look at myself as an expert; however, I can say what I do know.🙂 I find it hard to believe that all who leave the Catholic Church do not understand it well. I would say that your statement in the OP is just an anecdotal assertion. Maybe some who leave your Church do understand, and just maybe thats why they left. I believe that this is so for some who leave my Church, and there is no credible reason to see it differently with your Church. Very often, people do not even leave a church because of doctrinal disagreements.

You are a fool. And you deserve that ugly remark because of the garbage you are slewing all over these forums that are nothing but lies and hatred for those that you cannot win over. Shame on you and may God forgive us both for this bitter exchange!😦

You are a fool also for abandoning the Catholic Church for a false one.

I am a fool also. A fool for Christ and the only thing I could do more foolish is walk away from his Church.

I wonder why you’re so upset-actually I wonder why you are here. Does it surprise you that people here think you have been fooled into following a false religion? Does it surprise you that we we won’t abandon 2000 years of teachings and tradition to embrace doctrines that didn’t exist for the first in 15,00 years after Christ died? Just who are you here to convince that the Catholic Church is wrong? Us or yourself? The more I read your post more I think it’s the latter.

Don’t worry, I’m not trying to be the cause of the Church, with or without my occultist views.
There is a reason to be worried if this is your view of Christianity. Occultism and Christianity don’t go hand in hand.
I’m not trying to falsify my identity, nor do I know who/what Taqiyya and Kitman are. Can you explain?
Yes you are. Almost everyone here knows your plight. You claim to be part of something that you are clearly not part of… A Christian must never resort to lying about oneself or identity.

And if you can create your own php forum, i am pretty sure you know how to use the search engines to learn what Taqiyya and Kitman means.

Syllogism:

Filagree understands Catholic doctrine.
To understand Catholic doctine, is to accept same.
Therefore, Filagree must be a Catholic.

Not in terms of the canons of logic.
The ‘middle term’ - offers as ‘proof,’
…that which is to be proved.

Difference in opinions i can handle. Even harsh criticisms. Mud-slinging and calling each other names is simply childish and not worth the reply.

This is a perfect post of not understanding, If a Catholic truly understood their faith they would never leave it. That is just an absolute, it would be truly impossible for A Catholic who really understands to even consider leaving.

Can a person understand but not believe the teachings of Catholicism?

There are some that do. I know a Protestant who knows history very well believes that the Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ, but he isn’t Catholic. He look at the historical Church and find it to be very Catholic.

Friends, I believe a christian is one who loves Christ and makes a concerted attempt to follow his teachings. Christ established a church with Christ as the head and we are his body. I believe Christ would be appalled at the division that denominationalism has created in his Church. If you are Christians, Christ said that the greatest commandments were to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. The dialog in this tread is not very loving. Noone understands the mind of God, not me, not you, not the church. Christ rebuked the Pharisees for their false sense of righteousness. Much of that false righteousness is evident in this thread. God Bless you in your walk, and may God grant us all the vision to see his will more clearly.

So then you would condone spewing this kind of hatred at those who do not believe as you do? You don’t know the first thing about Christ and it’s so very sad. The doctrines you refer to as not existing prior to 500 years ago were solidly from the Early Church and from Scripture. We just cannot follow those things labeled “Tradition” by Catholicism when in actuality they are man made and without Scriptural basis and have no authority whatsoever in the eyes of God.

That’s right! The Reformation kept what was good and valid and tossed out what was getting in the way of a relationship with Christ. The origins of Protestant belief go all the way back to Christ and beyond, just as does the origin of Catholicism.

I’m not spewing hatred I’m just stating the facts. The core doctrines of Protestantism, both Sola fidelis and Sola Scriptura were not believed by anyone until the so-called reformers made them out of whole cloth. The idea that the Eucharist is just a symbol is still another belief that didn’t spring up for 1500 years.

The thousands and thousands of Protestant denominations have absolutely no history before the 1500s. Either Christ was the author of confusion or he founded one church only-theHoly Catholic Church

They tossed out the Eucharist(among other things) and created doctrines unheard ofin the preceding 1500 years- doctrines unsupported by either Scripture or tradition. And having done such a great job they continued to split and split and split into thousands of different denominations with dueling doctrines.
