This is clearly discrimination of a child by Church authority.
He was not involved with the decision. This was a non-Catholic school. The Bishop is simply stating that he defends what the school officials did as acceptable.

Remember that not all discrimination is bad.

May I ask what you guys got out of the reading this week?
Gospel of Luke:
**Luke 19:1-10

Zacchaeus

19 Jesus was going through Jericho, 2 where a man named Zacchaeus lived. He was in charge of collecting taxes and was very rich. 3-4 Jesus was heading his way, and Zacchaeus wanted to see what he was like. But Zacchaeus was a short man and could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree.

5 When Jesus got there, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down! I want to stay with you today.” 6 Zacchaeus hurried down and gladly welcomed Jesus.

7 Everyone who saw this started grumbling, “This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him.”

8 Later that day Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “I will give half of my property to the poor. And I will now pay back four times as much to everyone I have ever cheated.”

9 Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved,[c] because you are a true son of Abraham. 10 The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.”**
Why are there so many Catholics on here supporting what has happened? I don’t understand your thinking.

Um…what does that passage have to do with homosexuality?

May I first ask, why people would support the refusal of admittance into this Catholic daycare centre for this little girl? has she done something wrong?

I believe not only has this little girl done nothing to warrent such treatment, but didn’t Jesus also dine with sinners?

The problem with letting this little girl into the daycare is that little kids talk. I can remember very clearly having a two year old inform me of the fact that “Tommy (my son) doesn’t have a daddy” when my son was in daycare. They would be talking about the fact that “Sally” has two daddies. It would create moral confusion at an age when kids shouldn’t even have to think about such things.

You say -

So why is it moral confusion here and thus why we should refuse admittance and not the above with you and your situation? and why is it that you think by refusing admittance to kids with these kind of families, these questions wont be asked? instead of refusing admittance, wouldn’t it be better to instead have answers for these questions if asked?

Do you believe it is right to refuse admittance to this little girl? has she done something wrong?

  1. It wasn’t a Catholic day care
  2. There is absolutely no question that the little girl is the innocent victim here.
  3. The day care center is not the one who has wronged this child. **Her father is.
    **
  4. There is only so much that a school can do to try to fix the wrong a parent has inflicted. It cannot participate is a sinful fiction in order to do so.
  5. School officials need to be concerned with **all of the children **in their care – not just the ones whose parents have a political agenda to push.
  6. The father has lots of other options for their child’s care. He chose to use his little girl as a publicity tool for his same-sex marriage agenda.
  7. Even though this was not in the US, where freedom of religion is guaranteed, the principal of freedom of religious expression is a universal Catholic teaching. The owners of this day care should not be expected to stifle their beliefs in order to help this parent push his agenda on the children and their parents.
  8. Random proof texting does not help your position. Jesus welcomed the sinner. He did not encourage or support their sins nor did he advocate spreading acceptance to sin to other innocents. Don’t forget what he said about the millstone.

This is a clear case of needing to meet the needs of the many. I use Catholic school, for one reason, to avoid the necessity of having to explain things to a child that is not age appropriate. Just because society has digressed to the point that homosexuality is accepted as normal, God has not. This is not a distinction that can easily be taught a child. So what do I do? I have to teach how really, really bad this disease is that is choking us. If the child is too young, then he may not learn the disinction of hate the sin and love the sinner.

I find myself siding with the school on this one, only because of the actions of the father. He is trying to get some tacit approval that the Church cannot give by using his child as a wedge.

In most cases I have no problem with loving people of any sexual orientation raising children, but that ends when they begin to use them to push a cause…and that applies to politicians who use them in campaign ads.

Let kids be kids…leave them out of politics across the board.
WOW!!! Oldcelt, do you realize how long it has been since you and I agree on anything??? Well said!👍

I would think that parents ought to have the ability to send their children to a daycare center which will not require them to have to explain sexual deviancy to their children at such a young and impressionable age.

This is what is puzzling to me, unless this child’s father has an agenda, why would he want his baby girl to go to a school that will teach his baby girl to understand her father is living in a sinful and “gravely disordered” life style?

I’m afraid the agenda which placed this child in the crosshairs of politics is the agenda owned by this father, his “partner”, and the gay lobby.

This Archbishop has done his job as a shepherd of souls and he has done it well.

I suspect the agenda may be that he wants other people’s preschoolers to come home and say “Hey mom, guess what? Billy has two moms, Lisa has two dads, and Kevin has a dad who is turning into a mom! And our teacher says it’s all okay!”

You’ll notice that Zaccheaus altered his actions and attitude to conform to Jesus teaching, or doesn’t that matter.

That was after Jesus said he will stay with Him. He didn’t say, make yourself good than I’ll stay with you. God comes first, morality follows. Unless you really think that altering your behaviour will bring you closer to God (that’s closer to magic than holiness). Only God can bring you to God.

Zaccheaus is a bad analogy for this situation. There are many differences and few similarities. The most glaring being that Jesus was in a house, not a group setting of children too young to be exposed to that sort of nonsense.

  1. It wasn’t a Catholic day care
My apologies, I assumed it was after reading that the Mexican Archbishop was defending it.
  1. There is absolutely no question that the little girl is the innocent victim here.
Okay.

Okay.

  1. School officials need to be concerned with **all of the children **in their care – not just the ones whose parents have a political agenda to push.
May I ask what the harm is that befalls these other children by admitting this little girl into their day care centre?
  1. The father has lots of other options for their child’s care. He chose to use his little girl as a publicity tool for his same-sex marriage agenda.
May I ask how you know he is using his little girl as a publicity tool for his SSM agenda? and if that is the case, shouldn’t we rise above that sort of thing? as I said above, did Jesus condone Zacchaeus’s sins by dining with him?

Are we somehow condoning the parents sins by admitting their child into the day care centre?

7 Everyone who saw this started grumbling, “This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him.”

Of course, so like I said, did Jesus somehow condone Zacchaeus’s sins by dining with him?

Does the day care centre somehow condone the sexual acts of homosexuality by admitting this child?
This is a clear case of needing to meet the needs of the many. I use Catholic school, for one reason, to avoid the necessity of having to explain things to a child that is not age appropriate.
So you would condemn this little girl for this same reason? to avoid the necessity of having to explain things to a child that is not age appropriate?

And when you remove this little girl from the day care centre, why do you think these questions still wont be asked?
Just because society has digressed to the point that homosexuality is accepted as normal, God has not.
I agree.
This is not a distinction that can easily be taught a child. So what do I do? I have to teach how really, really bad this disease is that is choking us. If the child is too young, then he may not learn the disinction of hate the sin and love the sinner.
So what is your plan? how do you explain to your child about other kids parents who may be living sinful lifestyles?
I would think that parents ought to have the ability to send their children to a daycare center which will not require them to have to explain sexual deviancy to their children at such a young and impressionable age.
Hey JimG 👍

May I ask why you believe, that by refusing admittance to this little girl, these kind of questions wont come up?

Now by refusing admittance to this little girl, her only influence will be by her homosexual parents and those who condone such a lifestyle.

May I ask, Is it right to refuse admittance to this little girl because of her parents lifestyle? did she choose such actions and thus choose such consequences?

Do you believe it is righteous, just or christian like, to refuse admittance to this little girl, has she done something wrong? I cannot see past this reality and thus why I make such a decision on it.
This is what is puzzling to me, unless this child’s father has an agenda, why would he want his baby girl to go to a school that will teach his baby girl to understand her father is living in a sinful and “gravely disordered” life style?
This is what is puzzling to me, why would people refuse admittance to this little girl into a school in which she can learn the truth?
I’m afraid the agenda which placed this child in the crosshairs of politics is the agenda owned by this father, his “partner”, and the gay lobby.
So when Jesus dinned with sinners, did he condone their sins?

"10 The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.”

How do we save those who are lost, by sending them away?

I believe the reality is that those things are happening and those questions will be asked regardless. I believe the problem would be the teacher if they said “it’s all okay!” and by refusing admittance to this little girl, I believe you are ensuring that she has a teacher that say’s exactly that.

Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Jesus. St Jerome.

You are using last weekend’s Gospel passage out of context and applying your own understanding to it which is wrong.

There was repentance and a desire in Zacchaeus’ heart; so much so that he had to see this man Jesus whom everyone was talking about. There was repentance in his heart before Jesus asked to dine with him, Jesus knew this. At the very least there was desire, much like the good thief on the cross next to Jesus; do you remember what Jesus told him? “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” What do you think the Jews thought about that?

What was the result of the repentance? He made amends for his transgressions and made reparation for his stealing.

the people grumbled because they could not see his heart, but Jesus did.

The article plainly states that the man insisted on listing his status as married, he forced the young child to be held from Jesus, not the school and definitely not the Archbishop.

You can try to apply Scripture to prove your point but in the end it will be simple proof texting not biblical backing for your misunderstanding of the situation.

I believe the reality is that those things are happening and those questions will be asked regardless. I believe the problem would be the teacher if they said “it’s all okay!” and by refusing admittance to this little girl, I believe you are ensuring that she has a teacher that say’s exactly that.

Again, the only one refusing admittance to this little girl is the father.

I said before that probably most parents would like to place their pre-school children in a daycare where the subject of sexual deviancy will not be forced to come up and where their innocence will not be violated. It’s not an appropriate matter to have to discuss with four and five year old children.

And yes, I think that real agenda of the father in this situation is to force the acceptance of his own disordered sexuality not only on his own child, but the children of others. He wants his child to teach the others–by her presence if nothing else–that homosexual behavior is normal rather than disordered. That is a disservice to the school and to the other children and the other parents. It is a sad situation in which he has placed his child. He, not the daycare provider, is responsible for that.
