Not IF we Understand that God is ONE:D

Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord.

Mark 12:29
And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God.

Galatians 3:20
Now a mediator is not of one: but God is one.

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.

God Bless you,
Understanding does not bring salvation. Only believing and being baptized brings salvation.

Mark 1:15

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16“He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17“These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Really?

And Mt. 19:17 means?

Acts.20: 28 “Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God [SINGULAR] which he obtained with the blood of his own Son.”

Romans 13: 2 “Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.”

Luke 10:16 “He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

1 John 4: 4 “Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world, therefore what they say is of the world, and the world listens to them. We are of God. **Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error” **

Eph.3: 9 to 12 “And to make all men see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things; that through the church [SINGULAR: meaning THE CATHOLIC Church] the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose which he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confidence of access through our faith in him’

Matt.13:9-12 “He who has ears, let him hear." Then the disciples came and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” And he answered them, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” For to him who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. “

2 John 8-9 “Anyone who is so “progressive” as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son”

John 5: 37 “; and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he has sent. You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life [Speaking of accepting the entire WORD of GOD]. I do not receive glory from men. [Meaning disobedience is rampant!] But I know that you have not the love of God within you. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me” [Obey Me!]

2 Thess. 1: 8 “inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and exclusion from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might"

Humility and Obedience are critical elements of anyones salvation:o

Hey, I’m quoting Jesus’ words, If you don’t agree take it up with Him.

God Bless

Only believing and being baptized brings salvation.
You have been duped into believing this “only” part.

Catholics take the Word of God in its entirety.

See how Catholics proclaim we are saved:

By believing in Christ (Jn 3:16; Acts 16:31)

By repentance (Acts 2:38; 2 Pet 3:9)

By baptism (Jn 3:5; 1 Pet 3:21; Titus 3:5)

By eating his flesh and drinking his blood (Jn 6)

By the work of the Spirit (Jn 3:5; 2 Cor 3:6)

By declaring with our mouths (Lk 12:8; Rom 10:9)

By coming to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4; Heb 10:26)

By works (Rom 2:6-7; James 2:24)

By grace (Acts 15:11; Eph 2:8)

By his blood (Rom 5:9; Heb 9:22)

By his righteousness (Rom 5:17; 2 Pet 1:1)

By keeping the commandments (Matt 19:17)

By our words (Matt 12:37)

Hello PRMerger, Nice to hear from you again. And this is the very subject we last conversed. And I have to say “I AGREE”, praise God! Only this I would say is that if you believe and are baptized… then all that you said above would be encompassed in:

John 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent

Amen!

So it’s absolutely INCORRECT to say that any Christian has to do any “ONLY” in order to be saved.

The greatest weakness in the world is unbelief. The greatest power is the faith that worketh by love. Love, mercy, and grace are bound eternally to faith. There is no fear in love and no question as to being caught up when Jesus comes.

The world is filled with fear, torment, remorse, and brokenness, but faith and love are sure to overcome. “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

God hath established the earth and humanity on the lines of faith. As you come into line, fear is cast out, the Word of God comes into operation and you find bedrock. The way to overcome is to believe Jesus is the Son of God. The commandments are wrapped up in it.

Wow. Just wow.

Friends…

These posts make me all 😃 and squishy-feeling. And they go to my head. :o

Then, the expectation from me is this:

But the reality is this:

“19 Thou believest that there is one God”… Not what I quoted. Read the words that Jesus spoke. It’s not believing there is one God, It is believing in Jesus. Not that we don’t believe in one God. That isn’t the point. Keep on track.

John 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

Then maybe we can build Jesus up and give him the glory. Then we can die to ourselves and live for Him.

I see you haven’t been following the post from the beginning. Please read the previous post above.

For us to think that our merits or good deeds are acts of perfect love is absurd. Most people will have nothing to rely upon when that day of judgement arrives. Yes, your good deeds will have merit before God but that is something that comes to us through our faith and trust in Him. For example, the good thief, who was crucified with Christ, is in paradise–Jesus says so because His mercy extened to him and he had trust in Jesus. How many good deeds could he have done before he was crucified? We also hear of the merits of the saints and Saint Therese tells us that some of the great saints with many good deeds come before the judgement of God. She says that “it is better to give away your merits of good deeds and come before God empty-handed.” Why? For God knows your goods well before you succeed in doing them and they are His anyway because He gave you the ability and means to do them. This tells us that most people will have very few if any to offer to God after they die. As Saint Therese says,“I beg you to cast Your Devine Glance upon a great number of little souls.”. Why? They do not have the means or the education or the ability to do great deeds. For many will be saved at the hour of their death because “what pleases Him (God) is that He sees me loving my littleness and my poverty, the blind hope that I have in His mercy.”

So, do we do good deeds if we have the chance? Of course! Is it something that we should be overly concerned with? No! For if we trust in Jesus, “the grace of God’s merciful love for the moment of our death”, will be given to us to merit Heaven.
