lol , if you blast it at max I guess it could damage your ears but then again I don’t think anyone listens to rock music at full blast all the time.
There was only one of my fav band that disturbed me a little ( Led Zeppelin and it didn’t have to do with sound) when I found out when you play “Stairway To heaven” backwards it’s all garbage and satanism ( I wonder what they were thinking when they made that song? probably trying to please all crowds, normal and sick minded lol)

Not to hijack your thread but I never heard this before. That song I never learned was a backmasked song, when I read a few books on the subject. Personally I never cared for Leds Zeppelin (saw to many people handbanging back in the day) I know the beatles were accused of this. On the Abbey Road album when there was a big hoopla about Paul being dead.

Favorite Christian Rock: Switchfoot

I also have been listening to Anberlin recently… its members are Christian but that’s not their musical “format” per se.

Bought the new K. Max album last night- surprisingly good. He was the 3rd member of DC Talk, along with Michael Tait (now of Tait) and tobymac.

There’s been some worthwhile bands. Early U2 and REM come to mind. I spent the 80’s listening mostly to bands like the Dead Kennedys, DRI, Shanghai Dog, Skin Yard, Black Flag and a whole lot of punk bands no one’s ever heard of.

Post 80’s, I lke grunge. Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam (early stuff), Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc.

There’s been some pretty good metal bands, too. Metallica (pre Black album), Megadeth, Pantera, Testament (the Skolnick years), Sepultura, Death (say what you want, amazing musicianship from those boys).

More recently, I like Green Day (closest to real punk of the new generation), Nickelback, Creed’s alright, Rammstein, KMFDM.

I do, however, wish Franz Ferdinand’s fifteen minutes of fame would end. Disco is dead!

Still none, of them hold a candle to the likes of The Who, Buddy Holly, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Cream, Rush, BTO…
AC/DC seems to be a very popular band , but just one question: what does their name mean? I’ve heard that it might mean Anti christian/Devil’s Children:eek:  but I could be wrong ( Although it does seem possible since they came up with such songs as "Highway to Hell and Hell’s Bells)

Anyways Thanks to all who responded to this tread!

AC/DC has a couple different meanings.

It refers to the two primary types of electrical current. AC is alternating current and is the type deleverd to the outlets in your home. DC is direct current and is the type you get from batteries. Those big adapter type plugs convert AC to DC. The band separates the AC/DC with a lightning bolt where the slash is in reference to electricity.

In North America it is a euphamism for being bi-sexual. The band has always claimed they were unaware of this when they chose the name.

Well like AC/DC I am Australian and I have never heard of it being a euphemism for being bi-sexual so I guess AC/DC never heard of that either.

My favortie rock band is Led Zeppelin. I have never seen them live as Bonham died about 5 years before I was born (God rest his soul). In fact very few bands tour Australia anyway. Someone here says they have seen Rush 36 times… how lucky is that? I love lots of those progressive bands like Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, ELP, etc. I also love Dire Straits, they are just brilliant.

Good Catholic values here. (Yes, this post drips sarcasm.)

Below is a link to pro-abortion bands and solo artists. If you’d prefer to keep your moral blinders on, it’s best not to visit this site. However, if moral integrity is important to you, and you take your Catholic faith seriously, it’s worth reading. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be needing a heavy duty shredder. Or, wear safety glasses, and you can simply snap the CD’s and LP’s. Tapes are the easiest to destroy of physical media, and, of course, MP3s only require use of the delete button.

Destroying this stuff was painful. But, not nearly so painful as what 1.3 million+ babies endure each year.

There is also a pro-life page on the site, and a lot of additional pro-life information. The organization, Rock for Life, is an affiliate of American Life League, probably the premier pro-life organization.

I’d caution anybody who looks at that website. Some of the causes alot of those bands play for are multi-faceted, and some of the bands have only played one or two shows for these causes. The site also doesn’t give any solid proof.

First, The Church has made it abundantly clear that we cannot in good conscience support anyone who supports “abortion rights”, regardless of any of the other “facets”.

Second, researching and exposing pro-abortion musicians is one of the core missions of this site. What other motivation for listing these bands might this group have?

Really? That mean I can’t buy Johnson & Johnson products? Or is it we’re supposed to not support anyone who is explicitly supporting abortion?

So all of these bands have come out and said they are pro-abortion?

Did you go to the site? Did you read the paragraph introducing the list? If not, it follows:

Pro-Abortion Bands

There are many reasons for a band to be on our pro-abortion bands list. Some of them donate money or play concerts to raise money for Planned Parenthood, Rock for Choice, Voters for Choice, Axis of Justice, America Coming Together, PunkVoter.com, Air Traffic Control Project, or other pro-abortion causes. Some of these bands produce songs with a pro-abortion message or they have taken a strong pro-choice stance. The bands on the following list either promote or endorse abortion.

I’ve been to the site several times; actually, I click on it every time someone posts it and kills a good thread. So some of the bands have played at concerts to raise money for a cause that covers many areas. Additionally, except for listing concerts where a band has played before, it doesn’t say why they’re on the list or proof to substantiate it.

I don’t doubt that the bands are pro-abortion, but some of the evidence- like playing the America Coming Together concert- is REALLY weak. Basically, if you were pro-life and somehow supported John Kerry so you played that concert, you’d be lumped in anyways. BUT please don’t drag this into Kerry and Democrats blah blah blah. I know, I would never vote for a Democrat who wasn’t pro-life. I’m just saying that the evidence is weak.

Further, at some point listening to the music becomes so remote from the band’s support of abortion that there may be balancing factors. Maybe the drummer of a band is pro-life, the singer is not, and he gives money to Planned Parenthood, and the band gets on that list despite the fact that none of their songs even deal with abortion. Again- the site doesn’t provide the details we need.
