Losav, I am a “puti” American, born and raised. My wife is from Cagayan de Oro. The Couples for Christ has shown me TRUE Filipino culture of friendship and love.

You said, " I’ve known a lot of the members of CFC, SFC, YFC, CFC (Children) etc… and trully, their lives were renewed because of the apostolate of the laity." Have you considered becoming part of the community? If you need to find a CFC representative in your area, please let me know.

If not for this community, I would be divorced and/or dead…but that’s another story.
Hi dhgray,
I was an active member of the SFC back home and I am missing my community. It was in that community that I started learning the basics in our faith and the simplicity of it to those who are open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. I am truly indebted to my friends, brothers and sisters for teaching me how to become true Catholic Christian.

Thanks dhgray, though you’re “puti” but you seems so close to the Filipino culture. Thanks for appreciating ours… i hope to know you more and more with your family. Regards to them (uh-uh, i should always remind myself that this is a forum)… i jus twant our friends out there to feel our closeness in the Lord.

Thanks.

There are some excellent apologists among the clergy, like the brilliant Father Gerardo Tapiador. Unfortunately, such articulate theologians are not given enough oportunities in Philippine radio. Radio and television in the Philippines, unfortunately, is far more concerned with politics and showbiz scandals/gossip programs.

Gerry 🙂
Hi Gerry,

I know Father Tapiador and I agree with you. He’s a very brilliant aplogetic. I once met him when he gave us a “Mission Talk.” We got also a good laity apologetic who authored QUO VADIS. Though at his golden years but he is still very articulate like a youngster and he can stir anyone’s dormant faith when he speaks… I hope these good people in our church must be given the special room to defend the church. I just hope…

Take care Gerry… God bless.

Brother losav, I sent Tito Frank Pedilla a note to find your country coordinator. Would you be interested in establishing/re-establishing community in your area?

God Bless,
Davis

Hi losav

I can think of two very good lay Catholic Apologists in the Philippines. Bro. Demetrio Dacio and Prof. Ignacio Camello. I believe one of them is the author of the book Quo Vadis, directed primarily against the Iglesia ni Kristo.

Gerry 🙂

Thanks brother Davis. I am very eager and enthusiastic to establish a community here but I have no clear idea (system) to coordinate to people. Besides, here in Saudi Arabia, it’s too dangerous to do it here but let God works for us.

Please send me the infos… or send me offline message at yahoo.

Thanks for the efforts Davis, God bless you and your loved ones.

Thanks Gerry, I remember it’s Prof. Ignacio Carmello. I once met him in one of our discussions with him during my college years. He is a staunch enemy of the INC because he refutes them right at the middle. God bless you and your loved ones…

fyi, steve ray, author of several apologetic books, is revisiting the philippines in jan’05 to assist in establishing an apologetic ministry in manila.please pray that this will be successful!

also, just a friendly advise, please be careful when debating with iglesia ni cristo members.they’re very vindictive.i heard several horrifying accounts of their evil acts.some of them have been involved in ruthless killing and mass murder.remember the sta.ana massacre, the beheading in laguna etc.has anybody here read “ang katotohanan ng i.n.c.”(the truth about inc).the booklet is being sold at catholic bookstore in manila.i heard before that everytime its available, members of inc, will buy and burned them.the store has been robbed several times in the 80’s,there was a rumor that the perpetrators were inc members.

I am amazed at the number of Filipinos and those married to Filipinos on this forum. It’s great to see. My wife is from Laoag City, Illocos Norte. I love the Philippines and the Filipino culture. We have a house there and spend 6 or 8 weeks there every year. There is very little in the way of Catholic TV or print media in the Illocano dialect. The RCC does have an AM radio station in Laoag, but they only broadcast during the daytime. They do get EWTN on cable TV, but people need to hear the gospel in the language their mothers spoke to them.

The Filipino Catholics are not helpless. We have a faith that is unshakable. It is only us and out lack of understanding of our Church and her teachings that make us shakable.

The Church allows those sects that deride her to talk long enough to expose their real purposes. We as Catholics are the only people guaranteed that our Church cannot be destroyed by the powers of Hell. But we must be as sure that Hell will not stop trying.

Hi Paul, nice knowing that your wife is from Laoag City. She’s an Ilocana… naimbag nga biag. I came from the islands of the northernmost tip of the Philippines called Batanes. Why not come to our place once you get back to the Philippines and appreciate another culture in there? Our catholic practices in that island is more firm though there are few who practice other than Catholic practices… hope to see you there.

semperservus,

Jesus told us His Church would be under attack from Satan till the ends of time. The outrageous attack by the cult/sect/clan/etc. you mentioned proves this. I used to really get upset by all the lies the haters of Christ would say about His Church, His body, the Catholic Church. I even believed those lies while I was a member of various protestant sects. I believed them till I searched for the truth and researched what these lies claimed. I no longer worry about the lies protestants say about His Church anymore.

Why do I not worry? Easy really. I put my Faith in Jesus Christ my personnal Lord and saviour. He promised He would be with His Church, His body, the Catholic Church until He returns. Nothing the protestants say can harm Him therefore it is harmless to us. Satan is alive and working in that church you mentioned and his hatred for Christ is obvious.

Look at history and you will see that Catholics have always been persecuted. Today is no different. Tomorrow will be the same. Satan is schismatic and tries to break up the Church.

Now the Church does defend herself. You may not always see it and the news media does not report it. The Church does this with respect and truth and tries not to be rude, tactless or lie like those who attack it.

You can help by listing the claims against the Church here. Let us help to defend her. List each claim on a seperate post so we can respond.

Another note. The Catholic Church represents people in the Government and those who want to change the Government. The Church teaches Faith and Morals. It is up to the Government and the citizens to govern or vote that Faith. If people fail to do that they are failing Christ Himself. Not every Catholic is a good Catholic and some do sin when in positions of power.

In our country we have a politician running on a platform of infanticide, homosexual marriage, taking God out of the Government, etc. We have another politician running that supports life, opposses homosexual sin, believes that God has a place in our schools, etc. We are free to vote either way. It is up to each of us to vote the Moarals and Faith Jesus gave us. Sometimes we just vote for the easy way out.

Vote Christian Faith first, then everything else second!

My wife Thelma tells me that there’s a flight from Laoag to your area. When we are there next November/December 2005 we would love to come up and see you. Sounds like great fun.

To All Filipino Brothers and Sisters in Christ (and all others who love them) in this forum:

I should mention this disturbing news I saw on TV a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly, it was a report by Mark Logan, a reporter of ABS-CBN, and was shown in TV Patrol. I forgot the exact location but I hope some of you may have seen or knew about this event:

There’s this town somewhere in Luzon where they celebrate some kind of a feast (for a saint?). Anyway, there’s had a kind of procession on the streets where this man is dressed as a bishop and accompanied by boys dressed like altar servants. What disturbs me is that he carries this rubbing alcohol bottle filled with, what I initially thought to be holy water, and sprinkles the people around him–except that it was urine. Urine!

I don’t know about you but I think that this is an insult to Holy Mother Church.

Peace, so be it.

🙂 The Dating Daan members call themselves “CHRISTIANS” , If they call themselves that way… why would they attack other"CHRISTIANS"? What are they trying to prove then? THey are SUPERIOR CHRISTIANS?.. Filipino Catholics are NOT Helpless!!!..How old is their movement? compare to the Catholic Church?..Is the GOD they call ,not the GOD we Catholics… still and will praise and worship? Are Catholic not Christians? If you say that Catholic are Helpless!!! it is tantamount in saying that GOD is not with us {Catholics} !!.🙂

They are just trying what many other non-Catholic sects usually do. Attract Catholics to their fold and increase their numbers by gradually destroying their faith. They really do believe it is the “christian” thing to do. The defense of the Church, ultimately rests, in us, my friend.

Gerry 🙂

Hi Paul, thanks for that. Anyway, i hope you would send me your family picture on my email. I would appreciate such gestures, at least to see you.

How I love to talk about Jesus, the Saints and the church once we get to see you and your family as well.

I will look forward on that day. God bless you and your whole family.
