Re: “defied the bishop” and “go outside the bishop” What, precisely, do you contend that CM has done that qualifies as defying a bishop or going outside the bishop? If anything, as you point out elsewhere, CM obeyed their local ordinary and removed “catholic” from its prior name, in contrast to the NCR, which to this day refuses to obey the legitimate order of its local bishop. Do you contend that Voris needs permission from his bishop to run a website? There is a section of canon law which requires, I think, permission to use ‘catholic’ in a business or group name, and again, CM has been obedient to this portion of the canon law.

And is the RCC bringing lawsuits against those who use the term Catholic without ecclesiastical authority?

Regardless, CM doesn’t use the term in its name anymore and I’d still place a hefty wager that this doesn’t move its followers from accepting its rantings in the slightest.

I believe commenter’s point is that they should be viewed as in authoritative and perhaps less trustworthy since they don’t have their bishop’s approval.

Well since a schism would involve Bishops, Clergy, and Laity I find it very hard to envision a “SCHISM” Will some lost fall away from scandal… yeah probably. Will it amount to schism not a chance. It will never happen. Any serious Catholic knows where the church is no matter who is the Pope.

The reason many people are against our Holy Father is because who he is placing at the reins of power. Most of whom have a certain degree of responsibility for the scandal that is coming out.

At the moment Many of the churches more heterodox leaders are uncovering their faces because they believe that now is the time to move their agenda. Such as women’s ordination, or approval of homosexuality. I think it is good this happens. Because if this is truly the work of the Holy Spirit it will stick. If it is not (which I do not believe it is) than Christs Church will be cleansed and we will all have much to repent for!

True. I am not denying they may very well be right on some of the things. I think Mr. Voris may accomplish some things, but his considerable gifts would have accomplished more if his ministry were in union with the Church. As it might someday be.

It’s a distinction some people consider important. Protestants have little understanding of this distinction.
