yeh, why would he even bother going to Mass at all (not that he should stop) much less present himself for Communion?

it is Catholicism 101: you cannot be in mortal sin (without absolution of said sin) and receive Communion

all catholics know that, even t he ones… well, OK maybe the not-well-catechized don’t know that…
 
the media, as always, wants to paint the Catholic Church as

you name it

rigid
judgmental
unforgiving
not accepting of certain people

the laughable thing (if it weren’t so serious it would be laughable) is that they are the ones who most belong in all those categories…
 
Since the press release is the opperative fact, there is nothing to argue about.It is a choice to be not something when you don’t know either way. I prefer not to make something up.

The Priest issued a press release. He entered the national political discussion that moment. You cannot issue a potentially fatal political blow and claim to be oblivious. His other choice. No comment. If he says no comment doesn’t he do his job non-politically?

He answered reporters questions with a prepared statement. We do not know who approached the media. Claiming he did with no knowledge or evidence is calumny.

did joe do as required by the diocese before he presented himself?

what prompted the email? the news source or the priest?
 
According to Biden, the fax initiated the dialog with media. Who else had commented?
I read a lot in answer to your question. Maybe that’s my problem. I read what should take place and why. The question is how should things be done. Not if!

Perhaps I am wording the question wrong as we seem to be talking past each other.

Did the priest initiate the communication with the media or did the media come to him and he simply responded with a prepared email?
