The Mass Murderer of Las Vegas was a good law-abiding citizen.

Most of the Mass Murders that used firearms were good law-abiding citizens until they were not.
Not really true.

Get into the details and you find drug abusers and other issues often well known to the police.

Not a technicality, as far as I know. He was mentally ill, that appears to be a certainty. But he obtained his gun(s) entirely legally. What law was he found to have broken? Was he arrested? Tried and convicted of anything? Until he pulled the trigger in that school, he was a law-abiding citizen.
And that @Cathoholic is the truth of the matter.

I have always tried to be a good citizen just like you I’m sure you do too.
Really? Do you never intentionally go above the speed limit? Do you always come to a complete stop at a stop sign or do you do a California stop?

In reality none of us can really be called “Good Law Abiding Citizens”.

We always break laws where we think we can get away with it…especially when we are behind the wheel.

The details became evident after the incident. Until the investigation, he was deemed a “Good Law Abiding Citizen”

And none of those issues if true, prevented him from amassing an arsenal. So in the terms of the LAW and purchasing firearms he was a de facto “Good Law Abiding Citizen”

The shooter may have embraced Islam some months before.

I just hope that all will be revealed. I doubt that it will, though. I’m not generally a conspiracy buff, but this one smells funny.

Gotta be more to that story.

But it’s slowly being unveiled.

Just consider how many unanswered questions there are and the slowness of information emerging.

Another coverup of government dropping the ball.

[Where is Gil Grissom … now that we really need him.]

Com on. You know that jaywalking is not the same as murder! Let’s face it. Most of us are (generally) law-abiding and a few of us are not. You’ve got to concede that point.

That point yes.

That point NO.

A LAW is a LAW regardless of severity.

Analogy?

It is like being a “Cafeteria Christian” picking which parts of the Bible to believe and picking which parts of the Bible not to believe to suit yourself.

So it is with “Law Abiding Citizens” picking which Laws to obey and picking which Laws to not obey to suit yourself.

Yes, the law is the law regardless of severity. But the consequences of different laws do depend on the severity. Consequences like being able to own a gun. No one would think of selectively denying someone a gun because they jaywalked!

Well if you stack up enough tickets for jaywalking…you never know how you might get flagged on the background check…in your particular state…

As was recently revealed in a study by two-year study by MIT, fake news travels six times faster than true stories. Attitudes like the one expressed above (“got to be more to the story”) are part of the reason. People are conditioning themselves to accept the sensational over the boring truth.

So are you pushing to disarm our police JoshuaIsLord?

Or do you think your statement is irrelevant?

If you REALLY think this way JoshuaIsLord. . . . WHY would you allow our police and military to have firearms?

After all, THEY are “citizens” too.

Do you think mankind has intrinsically CHANGED since the founding of our country?

I’m not talking about societal norms, etc., but do YOU THINK the fathers of the country didn’t know about relatively petty things LIKE driving you “car” too fast? (Or in reality, driving your “horse” too fast through town)

WHY would they set up the country this way?

Should I think JoshuaIsLord is MORE capable of setting up a country than our Founding Fathers were?

Why do you have the need to control these “almost” (in your mind) good, law-abiding citizens?

Do you think YOU making decsions for THEM, gives them MORE or LESS freedom?

Why should I take YOUR word as final truth?

So if I go find police that have committed more egregious offenses THEN you will change your mind right?

(The “jaywalking” wasn’t done by the off-duty, now “retired” officer. The BEATING was. Go back and read the story you are commenting on. Your comment suggests you didn’t even read it.

And I’m supposed to trust YOU making decisions for OTHERS based upon loose reading?)

To the gun-grabbers here.

Should this sheriff lose ALL his rights to carry a firearm? (Irrespective of if he is on-duty or off-duty)
Sheriff ‘devastated’ after student finds his forgotten gun in middle school locker room
.
By Paulina Dedaj | Fox News
.
A local sheriff in Michigan apologized on Tuesday for accidentally leaving, in a middle school locker room, a gun that was later discovered by one of the students.
.
Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main said he was “devastated” by his “lack of accountability” after a student at Shepherd Middle School found the firearm in the locker room bathroom.
.
“I have no excuse for my lack of responsibility with this matter,” Main said in a statement on Tuesday. “I have worked diligently my entire career to protect people, especially our youth. However, I have failed to do just that, and I’m devastated with my lack of accountability in this matter.”
.
According to his statement, Main said he was using the school’s facilities to change from regular clothes to his uniform because he had been there over the weekend for an event.
.
He said he believed that his gun, which was his backup weapon, was in his bag when he left. . . .
.
. . . .Shepherd Schools Superintendent Claire Bunker told The Morning Sun that the incident was a “mistake” and that she was “proud” of the student for notifying someone.
.
“Sheriff Main is a great person and an asset to Isabella County,” she said. “He is human and he made a mistake. He takes full responsibility for the incident. . . .
.
. . . It remains unclear if Main will face disciplinary action.

Fair enough LeafbyNiggle.

Since I got tagged with the post, I assumed it was directed at me.

I’ll add to the post . . .

Yes indeed. He should be prosecuted for “Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor” at the least and “Improper handling of a Firearm” to name a few.

He knows the Law better than most.
