According to this, most of the people in the world today will end up in Heaven (even though most must go through Purgatory first). This is a claim that most people today are being saved. It is very different from Fatima, which only mentioned Purgatory briefly in order to urge people to pray for those in Purgatory, and then went on to describe in detail the torments of Hell and how vast numbers are falling there. It is also in line with Mary’s supposed claim that she is not calling people to convert.

Good Lord. Upon further investigation, that entire site is dedicated to Veronica Leuken. It’s radioactive, dude.

Disclosure; I do not believe that Medjugorje is an authentic phenomena. However, it’s things like this that remind me that there are agendas on both sides, and we have to be careful to weed out any hint of it when determining who we listen to. The Bayside reference made me laugh out loud, since it’s already been officially declared a sham.

I agree with you that Bayside is a sham. That doesn’t mean the site’s criticisms of Medjugorje, or its quotations from the visionaries, are incorrect. I use Anti-Catholic Protestant sites too when information they cite regarding a topic looks valuable.

My point is that the same evidence is presented elsewhere by people who aren’t shilling for Bayside. His position on Bayside is irrational, therefore, what comes out of his mouth about Medjugorje is tainted, whether it’s accurate or not. Those who don’t know of reputable sources might look at that sight and assume it’s in error about Medjugorje, too.

Leif, it’s a tactical error to use kookburger sites to make your point (unless of course you are replying to peas from the same pod as the kookburger site). It’s like calling a known liar to give character evidence.

The Decree of the Congregation mentions that Rev. Fr. Tomislav Vlašić, a cleric of the Franciscan Minor Order – the founder of the association ‘Kraljice mira potpuno Tvoji – po Mariji k Isusu’ and who is involved in the “phenomenon Medjugorje” – has been reported to the Congregation “for the diffusion of dubious doctrine, manipulation of consciences, suspected mysticism, disobedience towards legitimately issued orders and charges contra sextum *.”

Having studied the case, the Congregation during its special Congress decreed the following sanctions against Rev. Fr. Tomislav Vlašić:

“1. Mandatory residence in one of the houses of the Order in the region of Lombardy (Italy) to be determined by the Minister General of the Order and to be realized within thirty days from the time of the legitimate notification of this decree;
  1. Code: 
        All contacts with the “*Kraljice Mira…*” community and with its members are prohibited;
  2. Any actions involving juridical contracts and administrative organizations, whether canonical or civil, effected without the written permission ad actum of the Minister General of the Order and under his responsibility are prohibited;
  3. A mandatory course of theological-spiritual formation, with a final evaluation along with a prior recognitio of this Congregation, and a solemn professio fidei;
  4. The following are also prohibited: activities involving the ‘care of souls’, preaching, public appearances, while the faculty to hear confessions is also revoked up until the conclusion of the terms described in the previous number, barring an evaluation of the case.
An additional sanction of a latae sententiae interdict (can. 1332) reserved to the Apostolic See is adjoined in the case of the violation of the mandatory residence (n. 1) and the other prohibited acts mentioned in n. 3 and n. 5.

Fr. Vlašić is forewarned that in the case of stubbornness a juridical penal process will begin with the aim of still harsher sanctions, not excluding dismissal, having in mind the suspicion of heresy and schism, as well as scandalous acts contra sextum, aggravated by mystical motivations.

It’s a lengthy post. I have to say - I can’t imagine ANY of the approved apparitions going through this much contravercy. Given the diabolical nature of the messages from whatever the “visionary’s” are seeing - and given the characters that surround this fraud, I am truly shocked at the number of people who think this legit.*

Fr. Vlasic was the “Spiritual Leader” of the alleged seers.

Now - the movement cannot distant themselves fast enough. Again - what other approved apparition has this much scandal associated with it.

To bad they can’t disassociate themselves from the diabolical messages.

Any scandal regarding Vlasic, in and of itself, says nothing about the validity of what’s going on in Medjugorje. There were plenty of scandalous popes, but we constantly refute those who point to it as evidence that the Catholic Church is not the Church established by Christ. We can’t have it both ways.

There may be other reasons to believe that what is happening in Medjugorje is not authentic, but, IMHO, this is not one of them.

From the article, which fills in a lot of missing information, the Vatican wants him out of
the picture. He is ordered not to make pronouncements because he has no authority to do so. They dressed him down.

It also sounds like the Vatican is protecting Medjugorje, otherwise all they have to do is shut it down. They are not doing that. Someday we will get the ruling.

I agree that Vlasic was dressed down, and in fact the letter announcing his laicization reads like a plea agreement. But I disagree that the idea was to distance him from Medjugorje or protect Medjugorje. It looks to me more like the CDF’s investigation was directly related to Medjugorje. Also, Bishop Peric’s predecessor stated categorically that Vlasic was the author of the Medjugorje phenomenon. I don’t see how his views can be discounted, seeing that they were the result of careful study and investigation on his part.

Father Vlasic had an important role at the beginning of the Medjugorje event in 1981, when the six youth began to affirm that Our Lady was appearing to them. However, he was transferred to Italy in 1985.

Though he has publicly and in writing offered interpretations of Medjugorje, he has on occasion been contradicted by the visionaries. For example, he affirmed that the community he founded was born because of an express wish of the Virgin, but Marija Pavlovic, one of the visionaries, denied this in a letter she sent to the Holy See.
