Quit picking on the so-called “Dark Ages” (the preferred term is “Middle Ages”). I think if you look into their history you will find they were a lot more enlightened than modern people give them credit for, especially when compared with our benighted age.

And what do you mean the Catholic Church was in the Middle Ages? The Church’s teachings don’t radically change from age to age, so hopefully we’re still in the Middle Ages, otherwise our religion is bunk.
lol, I get a laugh from those that use the terms of the Enlightenment to denote periods of historical time in relationship to themselves.

Mmmm, so compared to today, is the Englightenment the Dark Ages?

My point exactly. It’s not fair to attribute the action of one to a whole group of people. You don’t identify with that of Bush so why should we take the blame for the crimes random muslim brothers commit? JUST TRYING TO PROVE A POINT, SIR!

Yeah that’s why Bush attacked several countries in the name of God.I believe he is a christian as well.
No, that’s not what happened. Bush asked CONGRESS to allow him to declare war. CONGRESS has never done a THING in the name of God, because not everyone in Congress believes in God.

Bush asked for the declaration of war based on faulty miltitary intelligence that told him there were WMDs in Iraq. That’s not a Theocratic Declaration of Allah.

Compare and contrast that to the way killing, attacking, justice and war work in Muslim Theocracy. It’s a joke to make any comparison with the Bush Administration.

But I can understand how someone raised in a Theocracy would be confused about how Democracy works.

I’m quite aware of how a democracy works, honey. I was born and raised in America and watch alot of terrible acts occur in this country in the name of Christianty. Lets not talk about slavery and the laws of America that once believed that God created one race over the other. Bush may have asked Congress but when appealing to the America public he raged a war against islam in the name of democracy and christianty. Please don’t assume that all muslims are from middle eastern countries as Islam currently has the 2nd most largest group in all the monotheistic religions. 20% of which reside in Arabia.
You should also research the rules of war as ordained by Allah. No women, children are to be killed. No trees are to be cut down. Know it takes two to go to war.

Muslimah 727, of course these ppl i.e. the chrissie chick dwell on what the media portrays Islam as…ppl like her will never take the time to really study Islam and see how true it is instead she’ll take whatever is fed to her and run with instead of realizing all the craziness in their religion…

Torturing and killing in the name of religion= Dark Ages. (Sorry, Dark is the term I will use, since it is correct).

Honor Killing= Dark Ages.

We no longer engage in crusades or the practices of the Inquisition, hence, we have left those sociologically backwards practices behind.
Mmmm, you’re still in the Middle Ages.

No, the “Dark Ages” is the generally accepted term for a period in history. You’ll need to create your own term. Dark Times maybe.

Why were the crusades sociologically backwards? We still have wars, and defensive wars are legal under International Law. And some pretty horrible things happen in modern wars.

The Inquisition - well the Church got an unjustified bad rap here. But as it was the secular laws under which people received the death penalty - treason is still a very serious offence even today. Admittedly the method of carrying out the death penalty may be argued over. The death penalty is still valid in many countries today.

Oh, goody, let’s do talk about slavery. You mean the trans-atlantic slave trade where the slaves were ALL bought FROM muslim enslavers and slave traders? The one where, those poor souls who were destined to the ME, 90% died in transit (compared to 10% in the trans-at). The one where, whole communities where destroyed to take the best of the community for the slave trade by muslims. What about the East African slave trade where ALL the slaves went to the ME?

And while we’re not on the topic of the slave trade - where ARE the vibrant African communities in the Middle East as a result of this slave trade. Oh, that’s right, they weren’t allowed to marry, any children the female sex slaves had were mostly killed or enslaved. Well, the males were castrated, so no babies there.

And still while we are not talking about the slave trade, let’s consider the enslavement of Christians from Christendom (as far away as Britain)

Yes, let’s not start on the slave trade.

HYPOCRIT

Oh, goody, let’s do talk about slavery.
Slavery was made illegal in Saudi Arabia in only 1960, one hundred years after America was torn asunder over the issue.
It is making a comeback in jihadist countries of North Africa now.

Slavery was actually the accepted norm for most of human history. It was only because of devout Christians working upon their faith that slavery finally has become recognized as the evil that it is. The initiating actions of these Christians have resulted in slavery becoming globally criminalized in the last hundred years.
Today only jihadists acting on their understanding of the Koran, and thugs with no consciences, partake in the trade of human flesh and human lives.

I’m quite aware of how a democracy works, honey. I was born and raised in America and watch alot of terrible acts occur in this country in the name of Christianty.
Every country has lots of bad history. Which one’s in America were done in the name of Christianity? To be honest most of the bad things you could construe as being done for religious reasons in the US were done to Christians. But what did you have in mind?
Lets not talk about slavery and the laws of America that once believed that God created one race over the other.
I understand why that you wouldn’t want to talk about slavery as Muslims also practiced slavery in that period of time, and some Sharia nations continue to do so today. What Christian nations still hold to that institution?

As to one race being better than another. Most American Christians/Atheists/Jews/Buddhists wouldn’t have a serious problem with one of their own marrying a Muslim Arab/Pakistani/Persian/Egyptian/Afghan. Yet generally speaking the reverse couldn’t be said could it? It might even become deadly.
Bush may have asked Congress but when appealing to the America public he raged a war against islam in the name of democracy and christianty.
No he didn’t. He said he believed it was God’s will to fight evil and terrorism. I certainly wouldn’t hold it against you to think this was misguided, most American’s would agree. However, this wasn’t a Christian war and was never meant to be interpreted as such. Some of nations that were mentioned at that time were not even Muslim. His goal though was to plant “democracy.” Ironic as that may be.
Please don’t assume that all muslims are from middle eastern countries as Islam currently has the 2nd most largest group in all the monotheistic religions. 20% of which reside in Arabia.
That is true.
You should also research the rules of war as ordained by Allah. No women, children are to be killed. No trees are to be cut down.
That is an enlightened view on your part, and I commend you for it. Your problem here though isn’t with Americans or Christians. Your problem here is that there are entire countries of Muslims with a different view. I’m not going to get into who is a “real” Muslim or not. But just as you strongly believe that Islam should be peaceful. There many Muslims who think it should be militant. You’re conflict is with them, not us. Get your brothers and sisters in the faith to view things in more peaceful terms, and you’ll see a total change in people’s reactions to your religion.

Islam isn’t being picked on. Its adherents have created a completely self-destructive PR machine. Ever wonder why no other major religion gets so many assumptions of violence and corruption leveled against it? Its not just random.
Know it takes two to go to war.
Well technically speaking that’s not really true. But I take your meaning. Still, even then it only takes one to threaten or start one.

Yes, and it’s illegal in a number of Islamic countries in name only. The slavers are never brought to court. 😦

The Saudi Arabian camel jockey trade is particularly disgusting. The camels are treated to the most luxurious care, while the little children (often bought from poor muslims in countries such as Pakistan) are treated less than we treat our dogs.

No, I do not need to invent my own term here, the Medevial Inquisition was characterized by the use of torture devices against heretics in the 12th and 13th centuries, and the purging of heretics was politically motivated. The 12th and 13th centuries have been included in the Dark Ages by some historians. 🤷

You know, this is not an idea that is unique to me. Other historians have said this. Why you and this other guy have jumped all over this is beyond me.

How can anyone with any common sense or knowledge of history think that the crusades and wars are equivalent? They are not. The crusades were driven by theocratic impulses. Theocracy is sociologically backwards.

The Inquisition got a bad rap? Really. Torture got a bad rap.

You’ve taken this thread off topic, for some petty, self-serving reason, and I’m unsubcribing. Bye.

Does anyone else here notice the parallel between the rhetoric use against Muslims here and the rhetoric used against Catholics by Fundamentalists? The same fallacies keep popping up. Not all Muslims are violent terrorists and not all priests molest children.

Perhaps we should recall and put into practice the Golden Rule our prophet taught.

Welcome to the forum , Sis http://theislampath.com/smf/Smileys/default/barakallah.gif

yes , Bush is a Christian ; he claimed that God told him to attack Iraq , Afghanistan . But no media ever condemned holy Bible or put blame on Jesus (pbuh) for what Bush did. It’s the character of the mainstream media . When a proven culprit is a non-Muslim , they won’t relate religion with crime . If any Muslim commits crimes anywhere in the world , it’s the Islam who is responsible. But still there is a good news 🙂

But when a Muslim is charged with a crime,
It is Islam that goes to Trial ?

But then again, why is after all that,

**Islam is still the FASTEST GROWING RELIGION in the world ? ** 😃

Did you have any trouble answering every question correctly?

Yes, non-Muslims do horrible things and no one connects these acts with a specific religion. Yes, Muslims commit terrible acts that have nothing to do with Islam.

But, gee, a lot of them do.
This Quiz is a no brainer, I say all the answers are A.😃

Obviously you and this CHRISSE chick have no idea as to what you are talking about. Please do your research before you decide to engage in pluralistic dialogue.
Oh i guess a little bird told me this things.😃

RuebenJ’s point was much of the Americans condemn Bush’s policies in the war in Iraq. Now i ask you muslimah727and the rest of muslims on this forum, do you CONDEMN ALL ASTROCITIES made by muslim terrorist around the world?

Muslimah 727, of course these ppl i.e. the chrissie chick dwell on what the media portrays Islam as…ppl like her will never take the time to really study Islam and see how true it is instead she’ll take whatever is fed to her and run with instead of realizing all the craziness in their religion…
How about being a recipient of the ‘LOVE’ of your cohorts. Maybe i should also share to you how 'TRUTHFUL and HONEST are your fellow believers when they deal with Christians in business.

There is no much profound information to justify a personal experience. Thank God for the Web we get to have the freedom to read all the answer to questions like WHY ARE THEY LIKE THAT?

Which one? Don’t tell me that you believe Jesus is just a prophet:confused:
