If one fails to oppose evil by the method of supporting its opposition because the opposition ā€œisn’t good enoughā€ in other ways that are not, in themselves evil, it’s difficult not to call it vanity. But you’re right. It could simply be poor judgment.
But in many elections there are several choices that oppose evil, so one does not have to make the republican choice. That has nothing to do with vanity or judgement, it is just good old democracy.

It was democracy to vote for David Duke too. But that didn’t make it right.

It apparently does vary in the six or seven congressional districts where there is a prolife Democrat. And it probably varies in the five or six congressional districts where there is a pro-abortion Repub. Otherwise, the variations aren’t significant. On my ballot, there is never a prolife Democrat or a pro-abortion Repub. Hasn’t been for years.

And of course the republican party’s opposition to abortion is nothing like a fire extinguisher. So you are right, we are required to oppose evil in a rational and serious way, and one is not required to vote republican to do that. There is nothing in Catholic teaching that even hints at that.

Who said anything about abdicating? Also, what gives you special insight that tells you that when someone criticizes republicans that they are satisfying their vanity? A bit of mind reading isn’t it?
Where does abortion rank in terms of importance when deciding who and which party to vote for and how does it compare to defunding social security which you consider to be very important?

Abortion is probably the most important issue.

One can become a Repub without fatally compromising Christian morality. ā€œNot so greatā€ is not the test.
And one can be a registered Democrat without fatally compromising Christian morality 🤷. Your point?

From your original post:
Can you answer why you would be shocked to find an Evangelical church in NYC in your neighborhood. Are you implying educated intellectuals don’t speak in tongues?

There was no laughing at yourself in that post. Jjust :eek::eek: at the thought of an Evangelical church in your neck of Manhattan.
If an organization was present in your backyard that stands for so much of what you disagree with (marriage equality, mixing religion and state, etc.), would you not be a little disturbed too?

Also, I would have expected an evangelical church out in the boonies…Not the Upper East Side of Manhattan!

So, what you are saying is that you are disturbed? šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜›

I have a pretty strong feeling Liberal Princess is unaware of a lot re the faith to which she claims to belong;)
Please don’t lecture me on my knowledge of Catholic doctrine. I attended one of the best Catholic secondary schools in the country.

Okay, now you’ve gone too far, honey. Being that I’m an egg-sucking, possum-eating Evangelical down here in the wild green rolling hills of Pennsylvania, me and my husband/first cousin/granpa (that’s one person there, sweetie) is gonna hafta hog-tie you (the hog can go loose fur a bit) and drag you down here to larn you summething. Don’t you worry, we got good eats here.

Or you can just visit Redeemer Presbyterian as stated to rectify your ignorance. (I’m still not sure if you’re kidding through all those posts regarding your ideas of Evangelicals or if you’re really that ignorant.)

I guess if he doesn’t vote for Democrats, he could. Well, I’ll admit, NARAL and NRL both identified six or seven prolife Democrats in congress. I guess one could vote for them.
