Deus Vult:
Quick factoid…almost all of the Fox anchors are openly Roman Catholic they talk about it frequently
The Church has survived worse, I suppose.

I like Fox on Business. I like their slogan, “the cost of freedom.” Fox is crazy. I remember they did a business show with Wallstreet experts on it and asked them to name five stocks that terrorists hate because it represents America, its freedom and greatness. Only on Fox.

Who called Walter Cronkite the most respected man in America?

Except he announced the death of the Pope two days before he died.

What can I say? Journalists are idiots.
Give me a break here. Journalists are sometimes mistaken. Smith wasn’t an idiot for making a mistake.

Ah…the good old Catholics at Fox News

Bill O Reilly the other night on the Factor:

As for the Prisoners at Gitmo, I have no sympathy. In fact, if I had the power, I would have ordered EVERYONE (EXECUTED)

God Bless that Fox News and all those “Catholics”…

Text without context is pretext.

I saw it. The context was Al Qaeda murderers.

I don’t like Bill O Reilly, nor do I watch his show. But I still watch FOX News. At least it’s more fair and balanced than CNN or MSNBC. 👍

Ah…Fox News…

The White Houses’ own personal Al Jezeera :dancing:

Fox News: We distort…YOU comply… :tiphat:
Oh, come on! The libs have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, UPN, all lined up on their side, and you complain about FOX? I think they are pretty much all the same, most of the time. I get enough liberal bias out of the Toledo Blade, with out watching it on TV.

People…save your “lib” bunk… and stop throwing out other channels like little children who get blamed for something and then have to mention the “other” bad apples to somehow justify their own actions.

and save the context pretext…stuff as well pal…

O Reilly said EVERYONE…he would have EVERYONE executed…and he meant WITHOUT A TRIAL.

Great Catholic…that “Louffa” O Rielly is.

But teacher…what about CNN…ABC…etc…etc…blah, blah…

Well…last I checked, none of those people are calling for anyones execution.

FOX NEWS: WE DISTORT…YOU COMPLY

Well, I never saw the O’Rielly show to which you refer, but in the end we all have the same choice. Just push the little button on the remote and they will all be gone.

I saw the whole interview. The context was clearly Al Qaeda Terrorists (murderers). Yes, he said everyone, but the context was clearly as I have stated. Just like if I say “I had a party, everyone came.” I don’t literally mean everyone on the planet came. The context of my statement tells you I meant “a lot” of people came.

As for him meaning “without a trial” now you’re clearly extracting what you want to believe from the interview.

The interview was a long one on the Guantanamo prison and what to do with the hardened Al Qaeda prisoners. There was banter back and forth with his guest about what should and shouldn’t be done. In both the interviewer and interviewee case, they were bantering ideas around without trying to be all encompassing. This was not a complete essay about every little detail at Guantanamo.

The commentators on FNC shill for the Bush adminstration. The generic news does less so… but there’s still some bending to the wishes of Bush team i.e. their use of the term ‘homicide’ bombers sted ‘suicide’ bombers. Rummy and gang said that’s what they should be called and FNC played along. That’s not independent news… that’s quasi-state-controlled news.

Right!

And these lib networks boosted Air America but never objected when Air America said: Torture Cheney, shoot Bush and that the Catholic church encourages oral s##. As a life-long Democrat, I am disgusted.

No one is forced the so-called hated Fox. Democrats just don’t want Fox to exist.

I’d say that Fox is to the right the same way CNN is to the left. I recall having this discussion with a friend of mine. Him being staunchly a reactionist Republican and me being a strong radical Democrat. He has the idiot-box tuned to FOX, I keep it tuned to CNN. Why? Because we like being told we’re right. Which is why we Left-Wingers will watch CNN and the Right-Wingers will watch Fox. To him, Fox is balenced. Because he agrees with it. To me CNN is balanced because I agree with it. Though lately I’ve gotten so sick of the partisan bickering I keep my TV and radio tuned to the BBC and NPR. If you want real non-biased news get it from poeple who don’t consider you a statistic.

Any other story and it would have been a scoop.
Kind of a broad brush coloring of one segment of the population. Thankfully, nobody would characterize Catholics that way . . . wait a minute . . .

You’ve gotta be kidding me about the results of this poll. Fox News’ approach to journalism is about as “Fair and Balanced” as a lynch mob on PCP and grain alcohol.

No kidding here. But I wouldn’t call your comparison of Fox News to a lynch mob on PCP and grain alcohol “fair and balanced.”

Let’s stick to opinions backed up by examples and avoid the outrageous hyperboles.

I suppose Fox is slightly to the right, but only half of the time. It hardly matters because traditional notions of Left/Right politics have lost all real meaning in this country. Pretty much all of the time though, it is just blatantly sensationalist or agitative.

I never claimed to be fair and balanced- I’d like to think of myself as a centrist doing my part to cheese off the Anne Coulter and Sean Hannity crowd. It’s a dirty job, but if someone’s gotta do it, they might as well do it with STYLE, man.

But if you need my opinions backed by evidence, check out the film “Outfoxed”- it was put out by MoveOn.org, an organization that, in all honesty, annoys me to no end, but they do a great job in exposing Rupert Murdoch’s agenda of mudslinging, chicanery, Orwellian information manipulation and idolatry of the Republican party. Every time I see the segment on O’Reilly, I am still in awe about how right on the money they are.
