Amen. With the persecutions of Christians in the Middle East and the Anglican Ordinariate getting off the ground, this is hardly worth the attention of the Holy Father. You’d think they request our Pope to investigate and discover the truth -whatever it maybe. That’s like saying “this our petition -we want you to investigate and this is what we expect you to declare”.
I think the “fans” are a bit out of touch with the reality that John Corapi is not next in line of importance after the Pope. His Holiness has a huge responsibility to the faithful world wide. One American priest who walked away from the investigative process of his own accord is hardly a comparison to life and death issues, Christians are still being martyred for their faith outside of the western world bubble, abortion is still legal -their are too many pressing issues even to recount. Really, some people need a reality check.
I also agree that the petition is poorly worded, with the call to exhonerate. We have to accept the Church’s decision on this matter. If she decides that Corapi is doing the right thing, then he’s doing the right thing. If she decides that he’s not doing the right thing, then he’s not.
