I do, but given that he has never been privy to the source or the content of the complaint, he may have initially thought it came from someone else - besides the former employee that he tried so hard to help.
Perhaps it was an initial reaction without all the facts because his first public statement doesn’t say that and then shortly thereafter Santa Cruz Media accused a former employee…

Father Corapi has helped me grow in my faith with his insight into the teachings of the Catholic Church, in his early days of preaching, not so much in the last couple of years. For me he seemed to change. I am so sad at what has taken place in the last few months.
I wish now (Father) John would listen to some of his own sermons and take his own advice," Let go and Let God " as he used to tell us often.
So much concern! Maybe you should offer up a prayer.

markomalley,

What caught my attention is that the traffic from blacksheepdog.com is being directed to onlinecatholicnetwork.com and Father Corapi is using blacksheepdog.us instead of the preferred dot com. This could be because the media company decided to keep it and may not offer it to Father Corapi or Father Corapi will be participating with the website that is using the dot com. :shrug:This we will find out sooner or later and the dust settles.
All you need to do is read his newsletter email posted online from 11-24-09 at fathercorapi.com/Webpage.aspx?WebpageId=31&CategoryId=25 to get a better idea that he was going through a major business change with losing 2 coworkers. It so happens to be that the first named mentioned is the same first name of the register information to the www.blacksheepdog.com site and happens to live in the same area where santa cruz inc is as well. It’s shows registered about 4 months after this email news letter takes about a fall out with 2 employees. Who knows what’s going on but it doesn’t seem straight.

Thank you for that link, dfp42.

"Jesus often said things like “Fear is useless. What is needed is trust;” and “Let your hearts not be troubled…;” etc. We would do well to remember this at a time when it is often not easy to be certain, happy, and without anxiety and fear. I have recently lost my closest ally and co-worker in the history of my ministry. My God-daughter Tamra traveled well over a million miles with me, worked very hard, and enabled more than 300 events, often the only person working in my office and assisting me. Her husband Matt is mostly responsible for all of the videography and technological growth we have enjoyed. They are moving on to other things, and although my heart is broken at the loss, I can only wish them every blessing for the future. Their hard work and talent blessed millions of souls through the years. Sometimes it is brutally hard to go on, for all of us. Yet, time will go on with us or without us. *fathercorapi.com/Webpage.aspx?WebpageId=31&CategoryId=25

I’m going to ask a question that I don’t think has been asked yet.

Since the Fr. Corapi’s announcement was made, has anybody reported actually seeing Father?

He doesn’t appear in any of his videos. It’s all audio. As both Mark and I noted earlier, the father’s voice sounds stressed at times (even slurred in one recording).

What if Father is not acting of his own volition? As many have pointed out, his current behavior seems uncharacteristic for him. Such things have happened in the past to business men and officials. Father Corapi is a very well known person.

I’m not saying this is the case, but if I were a detective I’d want to check this avenue out to eliminate it from any future speculations in that direction.

All this can be found with some google fu…I have no inside info.

The rosary sellers and long-time employees are most likely:

Tamra Sexton (sometimes Sexton-Sprinkle) and her husband Matthew Sprinkle (Matthew Bryan Sprinkle, Bryan Matthew Sprinkle)

Whether they are the accuser(s), I do not know. But the husband has a mugshot online and police reports of binge drinking and battery.
This is how slander gets started. You have no idea if that’s the same “Matthew Sprinkle” in that mugshot, and most likely, it isn’t.

I was just thinking along the same lines as I washed dishes and reflected on my previous post. I read a comment on an article someplace where the person quotes Father Corapi’s ex-bodyguard saying that he wants to be his spiritual body guard now. It was touching. I don’t really understand the need for a priest to have a body guard, I didn’t even know he had one. It does make sense, on further reflection, with his fame…

If the allegations are true, as the husband, he must be fuming. It would make sense that he would sell the rosary and keep the dot com.

He stated, “On Ash Wednesday I learned that a former employee sent a three-page letter to several bishops accusing me of everything from drug addiction to multiple sexual exploits with her and several other adult women.”

Fr. Corapi preached the the fullness of The Gospel. Angels, demons, Hell, Heaven, Purgatory, evils of contraception and abortion, relativism, the Mercy of God, The Eucharist and so on.
All his preaching was orthodox, fearless and up front.
The message was conversion and all the escape routes were shut off. You either accepted Jesus Christ, and His Mystical Body - The Church, as The Way, The Truth and The Life or you didn’t.

This seems to ruffle feathers. Who will rid us of this “troublesome” priest!

If you can silence this powerful, orthodox and “troublesome” priest on the basis of what appears to be a flimsy, unsubstantiated and mischievous complaint, then you are most certainly sounding the death knell for the priesthood. Only God can rectify that situation!

Many priests have been silenced with this technique.
This is effectively an ultimatum to all priests - STOP preaching certain parts of The Gospel or else!

I submit that this has little to do with the messenger, who is without doubt a sinner - else he calls God a liar.

I hope this makes you angry, justifiably angry, just like Fr. Corapi is.

Old red legs is having a field day.
The old “you will know him by his fruits” argument. Unfortunately, Fr. Maciel also preached an extremely orthodox message and the Legionaires of Christ recruited many orthodox young men to become excellent priests. Unfortunately, Maciel turned out to be a monster who predated on young men, had mistresses who had children and then had sex with his own children. Fr. Maciel was an excellent fundraiser, and created a religious empire of sorts. But look what damage he left in his wake?

Of course, Fr. Corapi has done none of these horrible things, though the money raising is one similarity, as is the John Paul II link. But to blindly support him based on his orthodox preaching and ignore his other, current actions, is foolish.

At this point, I could care less if he had sex with women or did drugs. What I am concerned about his is cult of “fans” and the division he is creating in the church. I care about the scandal he is causing (if he hadn’t spoken publicly, none of us would ever know about the letter this woman wrote - unlike Fr. Corapi, she wrote it to the bishop and never made it public nor attempted to clear her name when Fr. Corapi accused her of being crazy, a gold-digger and an acute alcoholic.

As others have mentioned, his rants are disjointed, contradictory and sound very strange. He speaks badly about the bishops and allows his “fan base” to call the bishops devils.

Are we are POSITIVE he is leaving the priesthood? There is some speculation that he is just leaving the public ministry as priest. He will still be a priest in private (if that makes sense…celebrate the Mass in private, he just wont be “Fr.” in public).

I have read and listened to his statements. Where does he speak ill of the bishops?

That name is listed with the mugshot online. Also anyone is free to compare the mugshot with his profile pic from onlinecatholicnetwork, his photos from Tamra Sexton’s profile, etc and judge for themselves.

SECONDED.

Although, I understand with your ‘I could care less…’ your frustration, I am sure you would like as I that in the event the allegations are true he would confess and pick up his cross. We all stumble and fall but the Lord picks us up again. We just need to reach out our hands to him.

That said, war has not been formally declared against the Church and her flock but the actions are there. For my part, I am standing by to here from Bishop Mulvey and praying for ALL. What we know is that Bishop Mulvey has suspended Father Corapi. I am sure it was not a thoughtless decision in his part and he was very well aware of the fame of Father Corapi.

Blessings,

Abba

2 questions.
  1. What does it mean to live “in community”
  2. Is he still Fr. Corapi or Mr. Corapi?

Of course, Fr. Corapi has done none of these horrible things, though the money raising is one similarity, as is** the John Paul II link**. But to blindly support him based on his orthodox preaching and ignore his other, current actions, is foolish.
What exactly are you insinuating about JPII?
As others have mentioned, his rants are disjointed, contradictory and sound very strange. He speaks badly about the bishops and allows his “fan base” to call the bishops devils.
How is he “allowing” them to call the bishops devils exactly? All i’ve seen was a reference to a tweet he made that is opposite of your claim.

I am not rendering an opinion on what he has said or done, but I see inflammatory statements on all sides being made.

I would consider myself someone whose spiritual life has been impacted positively by Father’s ministry. I don’t ignore his current actions, I know if it were me, I would have taken the offer from my religious superior to live in community, at least until my name was cleared. I do find Father’s actions to be bizarre, at best. However, I don’t know all the facts, and I personally know a priest-a holy man of God-whose career was ruined by false allegations of serious sexual misconduct.

That priest’s name was legally and canonically cleared, but the false allegations are now attached to his good name forever, and many people judge him by crimes he never even committed.

Because of this, I do have a propensity to believe Father might have been (or is being) railroaded. His statements do sound somewhat forced.

If he has done wrong, I pray he is judged accordingly, including in the righteous way the Church might judge. If he has been wronged, I pray that those who have wronged him will be brought to account and put under God’s just judgment.

Whatever the truth is, I hope and pray that it comes out.

“Leaving the priesthood” means no longer having faculties and never again publicly performing priestly duties.

ANYONE who has been ordained a priest is ALWAYS a priest and can say Mass in private by himself. Even the worst priestly offenders are still priests, its an indelible mark like baptism or confirmation.

The situation is so convoluted.

He tweeted 2 days ago:

“Please love the Church. You follow the Church. I am not against the Church, I am still a priest, just not ministering publicly.”
