How about annoying false “fun facts”?
My most hated false “fact” is the claim that a month with 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays happens once every 823 years. In fact, it happens on average once a year (whenever the 1st of a 31-day month falls on Friday), although there are some years where it happens twice (January and July 2016, for example) and some years where it does not happen at all (2018).
Now here’s an interesting fact that is true: Given any pattern of “three fives” for one of the 31-day months, it will repeat in a definite pattern: 6 years, then 5 years, then 6 years again, then 11.
So take for example, the month of May. In 2009, May had 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, and 5 Sundays (May 1st was a Friday). It happened again in May 2015 (6-year gap), and will happen again this year (5-year gap), in May 2026 (6-year gap), and then in May 2037 before starting the cycle over again.
Of course a non-leap century year like 2100 will mess this up.
Facts are much more interesting than falsehoods!
