After you racially stereotyped the whole French Nation this is supposed to cut it

I gotta confess, it’s been many long years since I heard childish racial slurring such as ‘The French Stink.and don’t use deoderant’’ !!!

Oh boy.
Ease up, big’un. The lady is being contrite. If we can’t do an ethnic joke or two around here, we’re taking ourselves a bit too seriously. Besides, European ethnic jokes hardly count when it comes to the political correctness we’re all supposed to observe religiously.

So, here’s my favorite Eurojoke. Probably most have heard it, but I love it. I’m slamming two of my own antecedents in telling it, and neither part of me cares.

European Heaven: Is where the cooks are French, the auto mechnics are German, the police are British, the lovers are Italian and everything is directed by the Swiss.

European Hell: Is where the cooks are British, the auto mechanics are French, the police are German, the lovers are Swiss and everything is directed by the Italians.

So shoot me.🙂

Uh oh. Posted before I saw the warning in the previous post. Sorry if I violated it. Didn’t mean to.

The military is finally telling the unvarnished truth about President Obama’s dysfunctional national security team.
Well, one general anyway. I’ve not seen much negative comment about the President’s decision to replace the general. Negative comment about the way the war is being conducted, sure, but not about the President’s right to replace a man who isn’t on the team.

I believe this particular situation was handled very well by Obama. McChystal was replaced by a very good and possibly a better General.

Simply put you cannot be in any situation of politics and speak as McChystal did. And he has a proven track record of doing exactly this. While I still firmly believe he without a doubt is a very good General. I was initially very skeptical about him being replaced. Untill it was announced “who” was replacing him. He is also very tired and has spent little time with his family in the past two years. Frankly, the man needs a well deserved break.

While my patiance with Obama has grown thin with time. The way he handled this situation, is exactly the way he “should” be handling “all” critical situations involving this country. By consulting with the expertise he is surrounded by in this government. Instead of speaking and acting off the top of his head without much consultation. Being President doesn’t suggest that you a more instructed than those surrounding you. It only means “you” were chose as the figurehead to lead this democracy. But the direction and course is still a democratic decision. And don’t think for a second he is any better of a man than McChystal. There have been numerous occasions where Obama has spoken right off the top of his head foolishly also.

But that isn’t what you said. You said “Obama is no friend of the left.” What kind of friend would refuse to sign off on leftist policies?
The fact that he would likely not veto many of the items that are championed by the left indicates that he is good at his job. Nothing more.

For the most part, the left has largely been ignored by the administration. If Obama is not reelected, this will be the reason.

If you say so. He’s lost the independents, which is how he was elected.

You say the left has “been ignored”, the right says the left has been embraced and elevated.

“The military” can’t, Rich. You know this.

I for one have been negative about the way this was handled, particularly the hypocrisy by many on the left when comparing the resignation of Adm. William Fallon for a similar faux pas under Bush, and the resignation of McChyrstal.

I realize McChrystal’s error, but I don’t think juggling generals (will Petraeus still command USCENTCOM? Who will, then?) will do anything to improve the moral, or help the soldiers in the field. Both theaters are a machine with 10,000 moving parts. Now that the largest piece has been changed, many other parts will. It won’t be just Petraeus that changes, but a large change of the entire theater command structure.

It just makes an already bad situation much worse.

I’m formal military. I know what McChrystal did was idiotic, but again I worry about the men in the field, and my former unit, who are still in Iraq.

I do not think there are as many on the far left in this country as you seem to. Obama won the presidency by securing their votes to be sure, but it was the independents and the disgruntled Republicans who put him over the top. He is a captive of the unions and the enviromentalist radicals so I don’t know how much farther left you want him to go.

“Captive” would seem to indicate an unwilling cooperation.
That somehow he is forced into cooperation with the most radical fringe.

I do not believe this is so. He is a willing participent.

I think it’s pretty obvious by now that Obama tries to keep a pretty even keel in public. It also has nothing to do with someone “daring” to critisize him. He’s the President of the country, the leader of the military. As a general he had no right to publicly critisize him. Getting rid of him was the only choice available or else the chain of command breaks down starting at the top.
I understand that there’s a certain protocol to being president of the United States and the position calls for a dignified stance. I also understand that any normal person would be angry over this situation with McCrystal. Personally I think McCrystal must have had it with all the politicking going on behind the scenes. He knew what the unwritten rules were about giving out that kind of information to a reporter.
But really, Obama keeping an “even keel”? Kind of an understatement don’t you think? He and Mr. Spock could be brothers under the skin! Up til now the only emotion I’ve seen on his face is a slight smirk when he’s amused by something. It’s disturbing to me that he’s so “even keel”.

The most important issue to unions is the Employee Free Choice Act. Obama has barely mentioned this.

The most important issue to the environmental community is a robust cap and trade bill. Obama has already backed down from what is desired/needed and expressed his willingness to compromise or water down a bill significantly.

This is what I am talking about.

Yes-the most important issue is destroying the secret ballot, correct? And the most important thing for getting us out of the recession is raisng the price of everything by intituting a cap n trade. Correct?

I suggest you do more research into both issues.

Your assessments are, absolutely, incorrect.

Dems don’t have the votes for cloture. They didn’t in 2007, or 2009.

What needs to be done? More Congressional arm-twisting, like healthcare reform? Of the “no” votes, Lincoln, is in a re-election bid, Nelson and Specter took too much heat during the Healthcare reform debate.

It’s not that Obama isn’t liberal enough, currently, The US Senate isn’t. It’s my guess that after November, it still won’t be. Did you know Obama voted FOR it, when in the Senate, in 2007??

That’s another one still in the Senate, with not enough votes for cloture.

If you seriously think Obama will VETO these bills, or has any more arm-twisting ability left to embattled Senators, please explain why.

Actually, they are a little simplified, but spot-on. Per the CBO, the Waxman Bill would reduce the federal budget by $13 Billion, but would cost households $22 billion, and those estimates are much lower than what other orgs have come up with.

And yes, EFCA does away with the secret ballot when the NLRB determines there is a majority in favor of unionization. But hey, it’s the Chicago way!

So, if a Republican dominated congress passed a bill repealing Social Security, Obama would be “good at his job” for not vetoing it? In fact, Obama would veto it with prejudice, if that were possible. And you would think him exceedingly poor at his job if he signed such a bill.
For the most part, the left has largely been ignored by the administration. If Obama is not reelected, this will be the reason.
The left hasn’t been ignored. They left just isn’t as powerful now as it was right after the election, and Obama, if anything, is a practical man. He knows many of these programs don’t stand a chance of getting through congress, and will especially difficult after the fall elections.

And no, Obama won’t lose any of his leftist base. He will lose independents, but not the left. The left will not be the cause of his downfall.

But he would happily sign it, then applaud Pelosi and Reid as they do their happy march through DC. He would talk on and on about how it is a real boon to hard working Americans. He would be thrilled to sign such legislation.

Just because he isn’t making a speech in every major city on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays each month, doesn’t make him any less of a supporter of this legislation.

Exactly as state above. Right now, there is now way this would get through Congress without significant political backlash. Obama knows this. Pelosi knows this. Reid knows this. But if they did shove it through, like they did Obamacare, Obama would happily sign it, and again, give some speech about how Americans are on the right road to saving Mother Earth.

Just because he isn’t giving fireside chats about how important C&T is to making the world a safer, cleaner place, doesn’t make him any less of a supporter of this legislation.
Your assessments are, absolutely, incorrect.
Really? Card check doesn’t eliminate the secret ballot? It doesn’t force an employer to consider the employees unionized when enough open cards have been signed?

Really? C&T won’t have a significant impact on our economy? It won’t make the recession worse?

You need to layoff the Kool-Aid.

The Employee Free Choice Act removes the barriers that currently exist to employees that want to form a union. Card Check, in particular, removes the massive window that employers use to bend/break existing labor laws and intimidate employees into voting ‘no’. The Employee Free Choice Act would actually restore democracy to the workplace.

Of course it would have a significant impact. However, the net effect on the economy would be a positive one. For one thing it would open up pathways for billions to be invested in alternative energy and green technology sources. It would also eliminate the uncertainty in the marketplace. Cap and Trade is going to happen sooner or later. It has to. Better to stop talking about it and take action.

That’s fluff. It does away with a secret ballot if there are enough open cards.

Period.

You never addressed the question.

Did you read the CBO report? Net loss, even by their numbers. Cap and trade is an enviro-nazi wet-dream, that will never come to pass, because its a failed system.

This is blatantly false. Employers cannot bend/break keep unions out of the work place. We have people who secretly work for the SEIU routinely applying for jobs here then start trying to organize the work place. They tell them all sorts of lies, like they’ll get health benefits and higher wages. TOTALLY NOT TRUE. They are allowed to lie with impunity. They get college girls in short-shorts and tank tops to go to the work place and hand out forms. They TRESPASS. EFCA bypasses the secret ballot and allows a union to automatically be formed when over 50% of employees simply sign the form. They may not even know what is on the form. Most of our employees are functionally illiterate.

The union is a business, a poorly managed business. It’s losing members, therefore losing union dues. They use terrorist tactics to get what they want. I have no respect for them.
