And you should have the right to legally own and carry a gun. I admit, however, that I have doubts about concealed weapons on college campuses. I know there are some arguments in favor of this but there are also plenty of good reasons to oppose it which make sense to me.

Military assault weapons are another issue. I don’t see how the ordinary citizen should be in possession of these for protection of home and business. Guns for hunting and collecting, fine; but assault weapons, not so fine. Comprehensive background checks and closing the loopholes at gun shows are also reasonable restrictions. Training in the proper use and safe storage of firearms away from children is a no-brainer as well. So is discretion on lending weapons to those people who should not be in possession of them.

As I see it, the main problem regarding those who are opposed to sensible measures of gun control is the near-paranoia that the government is conspiring to eventually take away ALL guns from the public and do away with licensed handguns. I see no evidence of this, yet some earnestly believe it is some kind of leftist plot.
Define in your own words just what a military assault weapon is, please give caliber and make and model if you can. Just asking what you think is in fact an assault weapon.

This is probably the article you read:

huffingtonpost.com/seth-abramson/5-ways-the-media-is-grave_b_9340218.html

Yes, I agree, CNN did have it skewed. I do remember him leading everyone to believe that ONLY the south will be involved in Super Tuesday and that Clinton should win by huge margins. The article goes more in-depth and tells a different story.

Thank you, 7 Sorrows for pointing us in that direction. 👍
yes, that is it. thanks. I don’t know how to copy and paste links or exactly what it is you do…😊

I think we should save our predictions at least until after Super Tuesday or possibly later.
So far I have predicted every caucus and primary winner correctly and by the day of, even the order of the top 3 Republicans in each. 😃 But after so many on Tues I’m nearly certain my 2016 track record will be ended.

I think Trump will sweep Super Tuesday except for maybe Texas, and I think Clinton will sweep Super Tuesday and March 15th. If she does that, she will be close to having the needed delegates. She did far better with the African-American vote in South Carolina than even Obama did, kind of surprising.

As to the general election, if it’s Trump/Clinton…???
Well, Lily, I can’t go so far as a sweep for Hillary. A majority yes. I’m not sure how many but I’m at least giving Bernie VT. At least.

Here is the Democratic Platform on the abortion, so while SOME Democrats might reject their party, it would be correct that the Democratic party is on record as rejecting any restrictions on when a woman could kill her unborn child.

ontheissues.org/Celeb/Democratic_Party_Abortion.htm

So where does the party place any restrictions on abortion, such as late term abortion.
Maybe in these words from your post “Strongly and unequivocally support Roe v. Wade”. Roe allows restrictions.

I’m sorry, Sy! CNN concentrated so much on the south, that I forgot about Vermont! Yes, I agree that Bernie will take Vermont! Thanks for reminding all of us! 👍👍

Kasich said that if he doesn’t win his home state of Ohio, he’s going home. I suppose that means he will suspend his campaign.

My sister told me today he said that. OH is Mar 15. Same day as FL. I wonder if Rubio doesnt win FL, if he will do the same? Or if Cruz doesn’t win TX this Tues?

Most Practicing Catholics did not. I did not as I examined his CHARACTER and knew since he supported the slaughter of innocents in the womb and voted against providing medical care to abortion survivors born alive during an attempt to kill them, he was the WRONG choice.
You are speaking perhaps of your own political and religious preferences. Most of the Catholics I know are practicing - and solid, progressive Democrats. They voted for Obama and support him to this day. I think that there are many political opinions within US Catholicism; I tend to know the ones who are on the left side of church and national politics.

The discussion these days is of course about Hillary and Bernie. This is going to be quite a year.

👍 No apology necessary, Lily. Bernie also thinks he has a chance in Mass, Minn, CO, and OK. OK has been the 1 southern state where has polled closer to Hillary. But I don’t know. He could win just VT or some combination of these. We shall know very soon. I do think as I know you and MB do, that Hillary is on her way.

Just a heads up, I won’t be surprised to see someone now question if one can be a solid, progressive Democrat and a practicing Catholic at the same time. 😉

I think there are quite a few - perhaps in the majority, from what I just read from Pew Research. I can claim clergy and religious Sisters and Brothers as well as people going about their daily lives.

Here is that report from Pew.

So, I think it’s going to be a Clinton/Trump fight for the WH, and I do think Clinton will win that. However, should Trump win, I think we’d be entering The Twilight Zone, as you suggested.
With Obama and Hillary we are “already” in the twilight zone. 👍
Gabbard has been critical of the committee’s small debate schedule, which critics say is designed to protect Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
foxnews.com/politics/2016/02/28/gabbard-quits-dnc-to-back-sanders-after-criticizing-small-debate-schedule.html

Hillary Clinton for President is unacceptable and never mind from a Catholic perspective but from a moral ethical perspective as an American. 🤷

How do you know who most practicing Catholics voted for? How would you know?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, just that I don’t see how anyone would know.
Church going pro life not falling for the facade about helping the poor, Catholics…is that better?

I never vote democrat, ever. A supposed pro life democrat betrayed pro lifers in my state. And they are ALL pro killing babies in the womb at the national level.

Bush’s responsibility lies in his response to 9/11, including the removal of the genocidal tyrant, Saddam Hussein.

9.11 itself is the fault of the Islamists, and radical Islam. The fall of Gadaffi is the responsibility of Obama, Clinton and the coalition that took him out. The fact that Islamists would sweep into the power vacuum left behind is something that any reasonable person with even a smidgen of foresight would have been able to account for. The example of what had happened in Iraq ought to have been fresh in absolutely everybodyie heads by the time that rolled around.
Agreed, 100%, God Bless, Memaw

Same here.A no brainier in my opinion.Yet,gear up for all the mental gymnastics, rationalizations that will ensue on the part of some to assuage their conscieneous choice of supporting the death culture.

The good Cardinal agrees with you:

*At this point, the Democratic Party risks transforming itself definitively into a “party of death” due to its choices on bioethical issues, as Ramesh Ponnuru wrote in his book “The Party of Death: The Democrats, the Media, the Courts and the Disregard for Human Life.”

And I say this with a heavy heart, because we all know that the Democrats were the party that helped our Catholic immigrant parents and grandparents to better integrate into and prosper in American society. But it’s not the same anymore.

Nonetheless, there are among Democrats some pro-lifers, but they are, unfortunately, rare.
