Kind of a meaningless poll if you ask me. The other choices we very proud, moderately proud, only a little, or not at all. Only 3% of respondents said not at all proud.
When you have the choice “very proud” why you opt for the category of extreme ?
i was brought to regard pride as sinful. I guess that is old fashioned.

It is only sinful when the democrats hold the white house. When the republicans hold the white house if you are not extremely proud, you need to get on the next boat out.

people who have blue eyes probably are proud of their blue eyes.

i am proud of my long eyelashes because i don’t need to wear mascara!

if it is an accident of birth we are born here, we should be both thankful and proud.

Actually, no. We shouldn’t. Thankful, sure – but what exactly are we ‘proud’ of?

What does “extremely” mean.

I guess I fall into the 75%. I am proud but wouldn’t affix extremely.

I believe patriotism can go a bit far in the US.

The fact that you are not understanding that pride is a sin has me shaking mine. What are we taking pride in? That we happened to have been born here?

are sports fans sinning because they are proud of their favorite teams?

if you work hard for 10 years and are finally able to buy a new house, are you not allowed to be proud of yourself for what you accomplished.

i don’t think pride becomes a sin unless you become arrogant.

being proud of your country is not a sin.

so i f you have to ask what exactly are we proud of, makes me think you must hate waking up every morning.

But you better be “extremely” proud because if you’re just “very” proud or just proud, you’re a traitor.

Why would you be ‘proud’ of a sports team you are not a member of?
Pride implies having done something that we are celebrating – although, as C.S. Lewis points out, we should be striving to celebrate our own talents as much as an another’s, no more and no less.

However, being proud of something that is an accident of birth is … interesting. Do we think we somehow deserve to have been born in a largely (by world standards) prosperous and agriculturally fertile area? What did we do to deserve it?

I’m grateful to have been born in America at the time in history I was, but I certainly wouldn’t say I’m “extremely proud.”
And for the record, I’m delighted to wake up in the mornings.

A significant number of celebs promised to leave then reneged, i wish it had been binding.
Did they specify to which non-US destination they would migrate?

Do they require a “go fund me” to pay for the tickets?

i think when you wake up you are proud to be an American whether you know it or not. it is part of who you are.

you don’t have to be a member of a sports team to be proud of the team. look how much money is made from ticket sales and merchandize every year from people
proud of their city, school or country and their sports teams.

As I said, I’m grateful. But I’ve not done anything to be proud of simply by being born here. It would be like being proud of having blue eyes, or brown hair, or long eyelashes. Those are nice ce things—but not things to be proud of. We didn’t earn nor deserve them, any more than someone starving in Africa deserves that.

well, you got an education, you had food to eat, you had gas for your car, you had electricity, water and sewer. you had an opportunity to earn a living, practice whatever faith you wanted.
you certainly have been better off than most people in Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea,
India, Africa.

Indeed. I’d probably pick “very proud” just because I almost never choose one of the extremes in survey responses.

I’d be more interested in seeing the numbers for the “extremely” and “very” grouped together among the same groups over the same time.
