The Homosexuals accuse us Catholics of basically being Catholic. If Being A Catholic were illegal would there be enough evidence to convict you?
To clarify: there is no sin in being homosexual. The Church does not refuse the Sacraments to homosexuals. Church membership is not denied to homosexuals.

It is homosexual activity that is sinful; not being homosexual. A homosexual has a heavy cross to carry. We should help him carry it with dignity.

A few posts in this thread have troubled me. It appears that some Catholics believe that homosexuals are evil people who deserve to be mocked. Homosexuality is not a sin. I would hope that we, as Catholics, would understand Church teaching enough to know this. I would also hope that we, as Catholics, would embrace our brothers and sisters and share with them the love of God.

I have no doubt that some children of God, who happen to be homosexual, understand the Love of God, and are faithful and holy Catholics who will spend eternity in His presence.

I think that people sometimes equate homosexuality with the same thing as homosexual acts. Really, when one gets down to it, homosexual acts are inappropriate regardless if committed by homosexuals or heterosexuals since it is rooted in sodomy, which going further, is another manifestation of lust. It is unfortunate that homosexuals are met with a double standard by many elements of society, whereas the same acts committed by heterosexuals are A-OK.

On the other hand, I can understand the hostility to homosexual activist and lobbying groups since they seek to mainstream and justify their behavior, not to mention their blatant insistence on playing “identity politics” and lashing out at those who hold an opposing viewpoint.

Wow. Why are these homosexual rights groups so much up in arms about this? Catholicism teaches that homosexual sex is gravely sinful. The Church has always taught that. Now these homosexual rights groups are up in arms about this issue simply because of an iPhone app? Wow. That is ridiculous.

Homosexual tendencies are an objectively disordered inclination, not a matter of being.

I saw the first attacks through my facebook when engadget (or techcrunch?) reported the launch of the app. First comment was “How could apple have approved this???”

Yes correct, but Little Soldier is correct what you describe (and what she called “being homosexual”) is not in it’s self a sin.

I didn’t state that the inclination was sinful. LittleSoldier was using pro-homosexual terminology that regards homosexuality as a matter of ontology (being) which is contrary to what the Church teaches.

No, she’s using terminology which isn’t necessarly unfair… There are a number of people living chaste lives in Christ’s good graces who feel this very desire powerfully. So much so that rather than try and “correct” it or “try to just get married anyway” they do just live chastely. To these people LittleSoliders terminology would seem appropriate.

It’s not incorrect to say we are each of us born with certain talents, as well as certain “handy caps” if you will when it comes to the spiritual life (as well as life in general). It’s not unfair to say that these people were born with a very strong, seemingly natural (to them) yet equally disordered and objectivly unnatural desire for a same sex union.

It is good to stand solidly against the so called “gay rights” movement as it stands today because what they’re after is an abomination and as we all know they won’t be satisfied until they have deprived us of our rights, for instance to disallow gay “unions” to take place with in the very walls of Holy Mother Church.

But we should also try to remain compassionate towards these people, and remember they too are created in the image of God.

There are numerous theories as to why homosexuals are the way they are. What I am saying is that homosexuality is not a sin. It is a cross. There are Catholic homosexuals who are celibate, pure, and do the best they can to follow Jesus.

Do you disagree with this?

BTW, the link you provided leads to a part of the CCC that doesn’t even mention homosexuality. Please provide the correct source - the actual CCC number would be helpful.

Thank you. 🙂

I did find this by following your link:

2334 "In creating men ‘male and female,’ God gives man and woman an equal personal dignity. “Man is a person, man and woman equally so, since both were created in the image and likeness of the personal God.”

[CCC, 2334]

Every man and woman were created in the image and likeness of the personal God. Even homosexuals.

That is true, that they accuse us of being Catholic. Because they can’t belong to the club and still be in homosexual relationships, they want to tear down the club.

Oh yes! I have a rosary in my pocket as I type this. I even pray it right out in the open!

😃
What about celibate Catholic homosexuals who pray the Rosary? Can they belong to “the club?”

I’ve posted the appropriate link because it is relevant to their ontological status: “male and female He created them…” sexual preferences are not a function of being.

The homosexual inclination is intrinsically disordered, but not necessarily sinful. It doesn’t matter how the inclination came about.

Homosexuals are called to chastity.

You need to learn how to use the forum software properly.

You don’t even follow the misspelled advice in the footer of your own posts: “(I will not reply to posts where responses are insered into my quote.)” sic]

And image and likeness of God means with an intellect and will, not a sexual orientation.

This post is absolutely brilliant. Major, major props (especially the part that I bolded.).

If there celibate, there not in homosexual relationships are they ?

What TRJ said originally, was that they can’t belong to “the club” and still be in homosexual relationships, which is entirely truthful.

It would help if you would post the appropriate CCC number. Just sayin’.

Sexual preferences may indeed be a function of “being.” Homosexual feelings may be innate. That, at least, is one theory. We don’t know why homosexuals are attracted to the same gender. Stating that male and female were created by God does not address the rest of what we are - none of us are simply male or female. We are creatures with souls, created in the image of God. There is a lot more to us than just being male and female.

We are ALL called to chastity!!!

I’m sorry but I can’t respond to posts which refer to posts from another forum member.
