Ten years ago I was in high school, and 90% of the people in high school with me thought gay “marriage” was inevitable. I don’t know what on Earth you’re talking about. The only people who claimed it would never exist were the most naive of the uber-religious who thought that, by passing anti-“marriage” Constitutional amendments, they’d be able to head it off.
As I’ve said many times, we should have just converted all marriages into civil unions and allowed gays access to that. Then they would never be able to have American “marriages.” But obviously people prefer going down with the ship by hitting an iceberg head on rather than damaging its sides to protect its hull. These are the consequences of those actions

I think the thing that bothers me most about this thread, I really do believe this, I’ve given it some thought, is the attitude that some people are displaying that everything is either all white or all black, no gray allowed.
They seem to think, or insist, that people either love them or hate them. They can’t imagine that someone might like them personally and hate what they’re doing, Conversely, they can’t imagine that someone might root for what they’re doing, but despise them personally. For those people, a sign of disapproval is all the evidence they need of rampant, universal, unjustifiable hatred. And a sign of approval is all the evidence they need of divine moral justification.
The goal of some is to squelch genuine discussion by preventing alternative viewpoints from being heard. Lose-lose.

Well, this thread is in discussion is on Russia’s ban on being gay in public. Is there “grey” on this issue? Can you do anything other than support or oppose the law?
In general, I see what you’re saying and agree with it. I’m just asking why you expect that to occur in this specific thread, which is on something I see as a black-or-white law.

You’re right. Some people are dishonest because they are biased or their bias has made them delusional. NAMBLA is a gay pedofile group. An adult who has same sex behavior with a boy is gay or a homolester (gay pedofile or pederast) by sexual conduct definition. To call them straight is dishonest. Many gays and transsexuals sexually abuse children as many themselves were sexually abused as children and in adulthood they take it on other children. And gay/lesbian honor sexual abusers with Harvey B. Milk. Gay/lesbian groups as said are apologists for transexuality which is why T is there but bias meddles with their views. Some people are so biased on topics such as Dan Keenan Savage that they can’t condemn Dan K. Savage’s view it is Okay for gays to solicit minors for sex. Russian authorities do not want this propaganda filth being taught because Dan K. Savage is a bad influence on kids, but American schools ask him to speak-taxpayers expense. I am not watching the Olympics anyhow and I haven’t seen the Olympics since 1988. Olympics should be politically neutral and as the athletes are guests in Russia, they must obey Russia’s laws whether they agree or differ.

I agree that athletes should follow Russia’s laws. But I still disagree with a law that bans inherently good projects like the It Gets Better project from being legal or that makes holding hands with a member of the same sex or posting a relationship status on Facebook illegal.

To support the law does not mean that anyone “hates” homosexuals. Only that we believe that homosexuals need to keep their stuff in the bedroom - and they don’t need to promote the idea of it to young people, or create kids’ clubs about it, or anything like that.

I never said anyone here “hates” gays. I said that people are very misguided in supporting a law that will throw gay people in jail for talking to people about their struggles with SSAs, holding hands in public, or posting a relationship status on Facebook. If this was such a good thing, why doesn’t the Vatican encourage us to ask for the arrest of all people who kiss a member of the same sex in public, even if discreetly? Because prudence says that we not only lose gay members of our society to violence in societies that do so, but that we also make them think that religion is ridiculous and lose them forever to sin.

My point was that if we were to not allowed to talk about issues we had any emotional involvement with, then the only people who would be allowed to talk about abortion would be people who saw no emotional affect from the issue, which would mean only those in favor of abortion could discuss the issue. Hopefully you wouldn’t argue that case. So don’t argue that I’m too “emotionally wrapped up” to discuss this issue; it’s super-offensive.
Also, it is very disappointing and sad that you can’t tell the difference between two loving, consenting adults and pedophilia. Any person who’s studied psychology at all knows pedophilia is orientation-irrelevant. There have been countless #s of heterosexual pedophilic men who dated adult women exclusively but tried to rape little boys; it has nothing to do with homosexuality. Most interesting part of your post was raising fact that gays interest are usually teenage boys to men in early 20s. If you see who most men have interest in when it comes to women. Most men and most teenage boys do not have interest in teenage girls who have not finished puberty. It’ll only work if society rejects them until they eventually commit suicide, or churches who put fear into them because they are repulsive and afriad to be corrected with the truth of literature like mines, so they try taking advantage of transsexuals who don’t understand to defend and guard themselves, and allow people to call them men, gay, etc. Or, they might repent if they are promised a wife for their obedience, if that even exists, or perhaps evening repenting, because they were never a woman to begin with. So the inconsistansies, which really are lies due to someone lying, for example, the inconsistancies of the Bible or prophets being inconsistent with themselves or each other, mislead them, the weak transsexual to astray. Transsexuals who are mislead astray by many verses in the Bible and are weak and believe that so called power of the Bible/prophets/God, will suffer how people rule, convince, or tell them they should live their lives. And by the way, I am a Christian believer. I believe everyone should reconsider who we really are inside. After all, heaven is a matter within us.
