“Too much cafeteria Catholicism as it is”? This seems like a rash and uncharitable judgment of the tens of millions of Catholics who don’t support your political views. Did you mean this to be the insult it appears to be, or were you just making a random observation and we shouldn’t assume you meant to actually apply to anyone here?
 
If we would all start using the right words, all problems would be solved.
 
I repeat, I am opening to hearing how you reconcile your anti-immigration point of view, specifically as it relates to dreamers, in a way that correlates with our Christian values.

I don’t agree with you (I think Republicans are equal guilty of enjoying the power that is centralized gov’t); even if I did, I fail to see how this point of view means we should support deportation of adults that were brought here as children.
 
I much prefer the term “carbon-based life forms.” It’s accurate and insults no one.

All I think is that people should follow immigration law. Why is that so hard to understand?

I dont listen to Rush I tend to be at work when he is on the Radio. But I disagree with giving citizenship to them. I also agree with building the wall. Closing any business that hires illegals. I also think we need to end chain migration and the lottery system for immigration.
 
And I wonder why we can’t have a discussion on one issue where someone doesn’t bring up other failings of the government as reason we can’t work towards a solution on the topic at hand.

It’s a matter of trust. if the liberals got it wrong and disregard the teachings of Jesus on abortion, marriage, geneder ideology, life issues, etc. not gonna trust them to get it right on much else.

I’m sure Democrats who face opposition from the Bishops regarding abortion, euthanasia, contraception and gay marriage would say “the US bishops are nothing more than a wing of the republican party.”

Sorry @whyeyeman, the US bishops are not a “wing” of any US political party. They transcend party affiliation by virtue of their being Successors of the Apostles - they simply represent the Church.

The Bible and the Church are VERY clear about how we are to treat immigrants - and it is very different from the GOP idea of how we should treat them.

I am a true conservative first. Every decision I make and have made my whole life is based upon conservative values. I can promise you there are republican that disagree with me on many issues. This country would be better served and it citizens would also be better served if we look at ways to do things without the government being involved. So as a catholic I view things from a conservative view point. As a dad the same as a husband the same as someone that is going to retire the same

I’ll be busy doing something else.

Even if I felt like calling (and I don’t), I doubt my call would make a difference one way or another. I don’t know when it happened exactly, but our elected officials really don’t listen to us anymore.

Government of the people, by the people, and for the people is a dusty memory. I’m very grieved to say this, but I really have no faith in my country or its leadership.
