The whole “offended by a message of respect” thing is itself offensive.
I’m not offended by people making a “Values” ad.
I AM offended by people using a “message of respect” to push an unrelated commercial product. How manipulative.
And if one disagrees with the particular ad or the manipulative use, then one is criticized for supposedly being against the underlying principle of respect. How unfair.
Just imagine a more controversial message like “real men support their female partner’s decision to get an abortion” or “real men vote a certain way”. We’ll see these ads too eventually I’m sure.
I’m sure lots of people will wish to argue this now so I will wish all of you Happy Saturday as I have said my piece. Have a nice day.
