Did St. Paul run for president of some country?
If you can’t believe in a true conversion of heart in Newt, then if you are intellectually honest, you doubt St. Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. If.

Please save us from blasphemy and dare compare the conversion of St. Paul to that of Gingrich. You could trust St. Paul but I certainly don’t find any reason to trust Gingrich. His record is thoroughly blemished by various forms of corruption and fabrication, by flip-flopping and clever manipulation and maneuvering. He’s a ‘smart politician’ - which is not intended to be a compliment. Frankly, I even suspect his conversion. In light of his record I can’t help but suspect that it was a bold attempt to erase his dismal record and be viewed by many as a ‘new creature’.

MODERATOR WARNING

Do not question someone else’s spirituality, even if they are a politician. It is fair to question their steadfastness to political positions, but not their personal spirituality.

Always post charitably

Discuss the issues not each other

St. Paul is not God. I am free to use his life as an analogy if I want to without it being considered “blasphemy”.

It doesn’t follow logically. It is logically possible to doubt one and yet affirm the other.

Conservatives will attack Obama on his record, and there is plenty to attack. 👍

Since he is an empty suit, I expect his attacks to be devoid of specifics - just general Republicans will starve your grandparents and eat your children scare tactics.
If the past is any indication I’ll be shocked if conservatives will only attack on his record and not use scare tactics. We’ve had “birthers”. Some have attacked his educational background even though he graduated with honors and was the head of the Harvard Law Review. There was the grandma death panels scare tactic and some have gone so far to draw him with a Hitler mustache.

But anyway Gingrich has plenty of record to attack as well. That is if his surge continues all the way to Tampa in 2012.

:rotfl: you say “GOP Machine” and out of the other side of your mouth, gleefully agree that Obama will have over a billion dollars in his war chest. Which one is a “machine” again? :rotfl:
Thanks to that 2010 ruling by the conservative leaning SCOTUS, the unlimited corporate machine Gingrich will have at his disposal to run ads on his behalf if his surge continues.

What about union PACs and donations? Weren’t those part of Citizens United?

Let’s see who the top 10 contributors were, and for how much:

Barack Obama, 2008:

John McCain, 2008:

Summary: Chase gave McCain $343,000. They gave Obama $808,000.
Citi gave McCain $338,000. They gave Obama $736,000
Goldman Sach gave McCain $240,000. They gave Obama $1,000,000

The list goes on.
WHO has the “unlimited corporate machine”???

Sometimes I question if you research your claims before you post.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would hardly call the SCOTUS a conservative leaning group.

You do understand that Obama and the Democrats are the recipients of just as much if not more “corporate largess” as the Republicans, right?

I wish people would keep it quiet about the cruise and jewelry store visit for his wife.

So far, my wife has not found out about that.

If my wife DOES find out, then she’s going to want a cruise and a trip to a jewelry store, too.

My wife is already annoyed that Mrs. Obama gets to take nice trips and visit clothing and shoe stores.

I did point out that Mrs. Obama doesn’t have to spend her husband’s money.

I’m hoping that she doesn’t find out that Mrs. Gingrich is spending Mr. Gingrich’s money on the cruise and shopping expeditions.

you doubt St. Paul
St. Paul is not running for president.

If a guy cannot remain loyal to his wife… he can say he has changed all that he wants but he is not getting my vote.

There are plenty of good men who don’t cheat on their wives who would do a better job.

***Recently Joe Biden claimed that GOP efforts to defeat the president’s jobs bill will result in more rapes and murders.

Obama claims that the GOP plan is “let’s have dirtier air, dirtier water and fewer people with health insurance.”

Nancy Pelosi says that women will “die on the floor” if a GOP bill is passed. ***

And so I ask you, Cmatt, what equivalent of those three individuals has attacked the Democrats in a similar fashion? And don’t give me some fringe type seen at a tea party rally or a right wing talk show host. Tell me how has John Boehner or John McCain or some other GOP figure with similar stature engaged in those type of attacks?

I am waiting for you answer.

Only 1 of the past 7 posts has the word “Gingrich” in it… 0 of them use the word “Newt”.

I just want to point that out. The Supreme Court of the United States, John McCain, Joe Biden, etc… while very interesting… need to in some way apply to Newt Gingrich… or AT LEAST one of the 7 ppl he’s running against. 6 of those posts seem to do NEITHER.

Anyways, I contend that** the Gingrich surge is still happening.**
In terms of polls, Newt appears to be leading Romney in 5 of the latest 6 polls. Two of the polls lasted all the way to Nov. 20th. And, with Newt’s performance in the debate tonight being excellent, his continued rise will be much in evidence.

In one day, there was some 3,000 + new followers of Newt on facebook. And, I’m pretty confident that a lot of fundraising dollars are going his way right now. Which… Gingrich has pledged not a single dollar of which will go to a negative attack ad on tv.

Off topic Ishii. I was earlier merely responding to someone who claimed Republicans like Gingrich would only attack on record. But I’ll PM a couple of links.

Yes I researched the Supreme Court decision was 2010 not 2008.

You should note that this data only shows what individuals who work for the corporation donated and is not necessarily representative of which candidate(s) the corporation itself is rooting for. To claim that this proves some sort of corporate bias towards Democrats is misleading at best. What you really should be looking at is what these companies are lobbying for or against in an official capacity and with company dollars; not what the little guy who spends his days in a cubicle, and has no authority to speak for the company or influence company policy, chooses to do with his paycheck.
