It was the highlight of the debate. A stark exposition of how the so called homosexual rights movement is being used to attack the Church I was pleased they called it want it is- bigotry.
That it was!šŸ‘ You’ve got to hand it to Gingrich. Even those Catholics that don’t support him for the nominee have to give him the thumbs up on that one!šŸ‘ I do believe it was the only applause from the audience that I heard during the entire debate. If Gingrich is nothing else, he is one smart cookie. (I would absolutely love to him debate Obama…he would mop the floor with him)

It appears we are hearing the usual Democrat Catholic matra of :ā€œRepublcians dont do enough to stop the Democrat advancement of the culture of death therefore its ok to support those who promote the culture of deathā€
šŸ‘

** Catholic Charities, of course, has taken $millions over the years from the government, and ā€˜he who pays the piper calls the tune’**. It came as a shock that Catholic Charities had to close down in various areas because it could not continue without tax dollars.
Code:
**As for Gingrich, he does have tha ability to turn a phrase and win applause. That doesn't impress me in light of the huge baggage he has**. I was interested in a cartoon carried this past week in one of the newspapers I receive. It provides five drawings of Gingrich, (1) accusing Obama of being a Kenyan colonist Eurosocialist, (2) asking that judges be supoenaed by Congress if they don't like their rulings, (3) calling child labor laws stupid, (4) claiming to be a historian for Freddie Mac and not a lobbyist, and (5) asking that Frank and Dodd go to jail. In the sixth drawing Gingrich is complaining of negative campaigning full of lies! I would not trust Gingrich in the White House. He is not stable enough to be in such an important office.

**Huntsman looked good during this morning's (Sunday) debate on NBC**. I don't presume he has a chance. I cannot in good conscience vote for Gingrich or Santorum, the only two who presently seem likely to seriously challenge Romney for the nomination. Ron Paul is somewhat credible on the general issue of war and peace, but his domestic program is a retreat to 150-200 years ago, not far removed from total laissez-faireism. Unrealistic and unwise and not acceptable to the large majority of Americans today.

That’s a good point. I never heard that before. This is why I’m leaning libertarian. I figure with our country being so divided, mostly on moral and philosophical grounds, that the less the government tells us how to live our lives the better. I’d prefer to have a federal law banning abortions and same sex marriage, but the fact that we have to defend our pro-life and pro-marriage stance really says we’ve lost.

The people of this country are by and large becoming more unchurched and less Christian to the point that I think we are a post Christian nation. The young people today are more relativistic and agnostic than previous generations.

Our country was founded by religious sects that didn’t get along. I think we are returning to that. I think we are better off if states were empowered more so that one could move to a states where abortion and same sex marriage was illegal knowing that the forces of evil work are at work much more at the national level.

To say that Newt Gingrich did not have a good performance in the debate last night is an understatement. Ron Paul took him apart. I haven’t seen a debate beatdown like that since Lloyd Bensten emasculated Dan Quayle.

Interesting how people’s perspectives ca be difft . - with regrad to the debate performance .

Missed some of the last part of it but thought Gingrich had a mature , in the know sort of presence .

Had to wonder if the media was sort of trying to look Romney look good - with the intent that he might be the one that would be more easily beat by Obama - after all , the supposed 1 billion in reelection spending that Obama has , could some of that be to offer perks and such , to these type of media events and thus influence the public !

Gingrich seemed to have the best grasp of the Middle East situation and how to deal with the complexities of the region , with the experience learned , during Regan Era , not just as a politician but also seeing the deeper underlying and yes , supernatural connections , that , he as a man of faith , can take up ardently where it need to be taken to !

His almost wounded , older presence , seemed to resonate with that of the nation itself and hope that he would be seen more as a grandpa sort of figure who made mistakes but has learned the wisdom needed for now , who can still muster the needed zeal , to tackle issues .

His passion for energy independance also seems credible , able to boost the economy as well .

Obama , having the icon of the monkey god hanuman and Gingrich’s name - like ā€˜ginger rich’ can also be hints - as many would know , monkeys go berserk, with ginger ! šŸ™‚

One very telling comment by Romney was , on contraception - 'it is working just fine ’ ; tells how he refuses to see the connection between contraceptive use and abortions as well as break up of families and immorality !

Unlikely he would have had that same grin, if it was about most mormons using contraception !

Having someone with atheistic /ungodly values can bring along tumults and wars - so we are told from reign of kings of Old Testament times ;thus , Pres. Obama can take good bit of responsibilty too , as someone who promotes , wholesale , such values !

Romney too , he seems to want to sound tough against China ; yet , considering some of his value systems too , one has to wonder , if that can only mess up things even furthur !

A Santorum win can be well credited to divine intervention - which could need prayers from many , to counter the negative of the greed infested , esp. on moral issues - we can hope for that too !

Todd Palin just endorsed Newt.

Not that it matters but … I find that kinda interesting.

New Hampshire GOP primary debate (Transcript)

GINGRICH: I just want to raise – since we’ve spent this much time on these issues – I just want to raise a point about the news media bias. You don’t hear the opposite question asked. Should the Catholic Church be forced to close its adoption services in Massachusetts because it won’t accept gay couples, which is exactly what the state has done? Should the Catholic Church be driven out of providing charitable services in the District of Columbia because it won’t give in to secular bigotry? Should the Catholic Church find itself discriminated against by the Obama administration on key delivery of services because of the bias and the bigotry of the administration?
The bigotry question goes both ways. And there’s a lot more anti-Christian bigotry today than there is concerning the other side. And none of it gets covered by the news media.

(APPLAUSE)

ROMNEY: As you can tell, the people in this room feel that Speaker Gingrich is absolutely right and I do too. And – and I was in a state where the Supreme Court stepped in and said, marriage is a relationship required under the Constitution for – for people of the same sex to be able to marry. And John Adams, who wrote the Constitution, would be surprised.
And – and it did exactly as Speaker Gingrich indicated, what happened was Catholic charities that placed almost half of all of the adoptive children in our state, was forced to step out of being able to provide adoptive services. And the state tried to find other places to help children that we – we have to recognize that – that this decision about what we call marriage, has consequence which goes far beyond a loving couple wanting to form a long-term relationship.
That they can do within the law now. Calling it a marriage, creates a whole host of problems for – for families, for the law, for – for – for the practice of – of religion, for education. Let me – let me say this, 3,000 years of human history shouldn’t be discarded so quickly.

The secular left would like nothing more than to drive the Church out of all it’s charitable activities. It’s what the Soviets did to the Orthodox Church. They’re just taking it one step at a time.

Good for the candidates to support the Church and children.šŸ‘

I’ve been waiting for this to be brought up in the politics threads but didn’t see it. I was cheering him when spoke out. šŸ‘

Well we know very well that religion is discussed with passion in US, here in Europe we don“t discusse this so deeply.

And Americans attend services at a rate almost twice that of Europe šŸ˜‰

To say that Newt Gingrich did not have a good performance in the debate last night is an understatement. Ron Paul took him apart. I haven’t seen a debate beatdown like that since Lloyd Bensten emasculated Dan Quayle.
After Santorum and Romney had to endure endless questioning on gay marriage and contraception, Newt finally turned the question around.

GINGRICH: I just want to raise… Since we spent this much time all these issues, I just want to raise a point about the news media bias. You don’t hear the opposite questions asked. ā€œShould the Catholic Church be forced to close its adoption services in Massachusetts because it won’t accept gay couples?ā€ which is exactly what the state has done. ā€œShould the Catholic Church be driven out of providing charitable services in the District of Columbia because it won’t give in to secular bigotry? AUDIENCE: (huge applause)

Stephanopoulos got booed as he kept pursuing that line of questioning on contraception – and again, this is Saturday night at the ABC debate. **Meanwhile, none of the moderators asked a single question about the national debt. None of them asked a single question about the jobless rate. None of them asked a single question about Obama’s economic policies or the economic condition of the country. **Every question, or the vast majority of them, had to do with bogus social issues … having nothing do with the future of the United States.

Where is Stephanopoulos coming from? Contraception? It’s a nonissue in the campaign … and it was asked by George Stephanopoulos who’s not a journalist. He’s a Bill Clinton political hack. He was one-half of the Clinton war room. He’s not a journalist. There’s not even a pretense of it, anywhere. He’s a Democrat political hack and he gets away with being able to operate in the guise of being a journalist and of course along with that comes the notion he’s objective and fair and just interested in the truth or whatever ambiguous objective they claim to be interested in. That’s not at all what this is.

You know what I learned from the ABC News debate? I learned that the moderators favor gay marriage, contraception for all, and abortion on demand. That’s what I learned. I learned nothing about the Republicans. **I learned that the ABC News moderators don’t care about the massive debt, yearly deficits, creating private sector jobs, or depression in the housing market. **ABC doesn’t care about that. I say this 'cause I assume if they were priorities they would have focused on them and asked questions about it, but I learned ABC doesn’t care about any of that.

I didn`t see much of that debate but I did catch that part. Not a Newt supporter particularly but hoooray for how he handled the biased questioning. And I noticed that after his comment the debate moderators seemed to shut-up about those issues. Good job Newt!

You learned that Stephanopolis will always be a biased partisan Democrat posing as a real journalist (but you probably knew that). What I learned is that the GOP candidates are silly to set themselves up for this by participating in these ā€œdebatesā€ that are designed to embarrass the candidates and go off on tangents that take away from the real issues.
