No. We are putting our confidence in Jesus who gave the Pope authority.I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but every time I pick up my New Testament, I am going to try and follow Jesus, not the Pope. And I think this clearly illustrates the intent of Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” And if we follow the Pope, we are putting our confidence in a man aren’t we?
When you do not respect the authority of the Pope, then you are putting your confidence in man by not listening to Jesus.
