This is another example of that Protestant either/or thinking. If the Pope is following Jesus, there is no difference or distinction. How is it Paul could say “What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.” Phil 4:9

Did he mean that the Phillipians should follow him “instead” of Christ? Surely not. Rather:

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”

Even if we had an unholy Pope, as has been the case at times in the past, Jesus still encourages us to follow the teachings, if not the man:

Matt 23:1-4
2 “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; 3 so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice.”

But, what does this have to do with the origin of the Bible?

I understand that Christ didnt give us the bible it was the fathers of the church who compiled numerous writings by the early saints and these were the inspired word of God. The early Ecumenical councils by the power of the Holy Spirit also approved and disapproved certain texts for acceptance as Scripture. The Bible as we know it wasnt available to the public until the middle ages. It was the works of the Apostles and Fathers of the church prior to any written bible that sustained the early church.

believers interpretation falls into error. He claims Jesus addressed the disciple, yet. Jesus addressed Simon saying, “Thou art Peter” Singular. If he address the entire disciples, he would use, you are all Peters. Yet we do not see that. We see Jesus address Simon, Thou are Peter.

In the Aramaic language. Jesus would have said, this.

You are Kepha, and Upon this Kepha I will build My Church." Kepha or Cepha is the Aramiac Word for Rock.

While I agree that Christ is the corner stone, etc your point in trying to deny that the church would be built on the rock of Peter’s declaration of faith kinda makes Christ’s changing Peter’s name to Peter silly.
