Cars. The first one and third ones are best IMO – the second one neither my boys nor I care for as much, but it’s also OK.

Second Hand Lions is also great, for boys or girls. Its themes are much more for somewhat older kids, though. Definitely not for 2 year olds.

The Incredibles has a nice theme of a family together, which isn’t something you always see.

And Mr. Rogers or Daniel Tiger, if you have Amazon Prime. The old Mr. Rogers episode with the crayon factory is a huge hit here.

Oh, and “Mighty Machines.” It’s a Canadian show from the early 90s – three seasons of shows about heavy machinery. It doesn’t have the male protagonists you’re looking for really, but it’s definitely a show that boys who like vehicles and machines will love. Each episode shows what one kind of vehicle or machine does, with voices for each vehicle. It is no longer on Netflix, but you can find all the episodes on YouTube (channel: Mighty Machines).

As for songs, if he likes trucks or the like, there are some very catchy truck songs on YouTube by a group called “Twenty Trucks.”

Obviously from my recommendations you can tell my boys like vehicles and machines 🙂

How about Popeye with Robin Williams? The biggest reason I recommend it is that the plot involved him trying to find his long lost father. I like the scene where he objects to his adopted son being used to pick winning horses in gambling (not inherently a sin, but good parenting nonetheless). Plus a whole lot of 80’s nostalgia has come out while typing this!😆 Totally rad!

I have no idea why this is going to Paul71!

“You owe me an apology”.

I need to watch this one again!

Gotta mention this one, then I’ll quit…I think. Among the “Young Indiana Jones” movies, are one in which Indiana (as a teenager) goes down to Mexico, meets and for a time rides with Pancho Villa more or less as a prisoner, then later on meets General Pershing and George Patton (a captain at the time), all before WWI, of course. Shows Villa’s raid of the W.R. Hearst mansion, which really happened. Lots of real history in the movie as well as high boyish adventure,

I’m a 22 year old guy and still have a soft spot for all things Disney.

As a kid I liked Happy Feet and How to Train Your Dragon.

(Look past Happy Feet’s pushy environmentalism to its deeper themes on persistence and bravery and it’s still a great movie. Plus the music is the cat’s pajamas.)

My biggest recommendation is Kubo and the Two Strings.

Runners up:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (everything about this movie is great.)

Iron Giant (it’s PG, but as a kid I had to comfort my mom when she cried at the “Superman” part.)

Chicken Run (hilarious)

To echo @LittleFlower, “The Incredibles” is an a_mazing_ film. Possibly the best superhero movie out there, and with a message that emphasizes the importance of family and standing up for the good, as opposed to fame and profits (Syndrome). In fact, Mr. Incredible and Syndrome, the prime pro- and antagonists, are both struggling with the same sin (Syndrome → _Sin_drome): pride. Syndrome loses, and Mr. Incredible wins by seeing his role, not as famous hero of the glory days, but father and protector, and only wins with his family and his friend by his side.

Side note: don’t have him watch the sequel. Not only does it say a vehement ”nay” to everything the first stood for, but it’s kinda-sorta radical-feminist propaganda 😁
