Most of the time, if one can make the Sign of the Cross or just reach out to Christ by saying His Holy Name, it will stop it attacking.

These attacks by demons are tests by God. God draws back His Protection and the Soul troubled cries out to Him and He answers. Most people these attacks become Victories for Christ and draw people closer to God.

As far as name calling, in the past 2 months of last year I found myself being rude. I did this to try to make people understand something. Well Fr. Fortea says "Kindness and Patience are important in ministering to people." People who have suffered demonic attacks need consolation and support. They don't need to be called names.

Actually demonic attacks are common enough for example in the case of demonic infestations that in the real estate laws of some states there are clauses for "pyschologically impacted homes."

Bob Crowley's experiences fit perfectly with the Catechism of the Church. The only danger would be not to pray or to judge another person. I understand how Bob feels.
It takes courage to speak of these things and share them with others. This way people don’t feel so isolated.

Also the "Dark Night of the Soul" is a type of demonic attack that is universal for all those who pray.

I am going to begin walking backward out of the confessional, so that he might think I am heading in and leave me alone! 🙂
👍

You nutter. 😉 I would try that except I’m usually crying so hard after confession that I can barely see, let alone walk backwards.

Regarding the bolded above.

The last demonic visitation I got was about a month ago, after I had been on a case of oppression of a 17 year old girl with my team. I was awakened around 3AM about 3 days later to a force pulling my arm away from my body and up in the air. I was sleeping on my right side. I remember saying in my mind “no” and I tried to speak the name of Jesus out loud, but I was prevented. I was prevented from uttering a vocal word. So, in those fractions of seconds, I thought if I can’t speak His name, this entity cannot prevent me from thinking it. So in my mind I said “Jesus please help me”. The entity left.

Greetings BluesPicker,

This may be true in some of the cases, but not in most cases. From whence are you deriving your statement?

God Bless.

Yes, we are called to patiently explain, with kindness and gentleness, the reasons we have for the hope that is within us - but spiritual attack is a quite different matter altogether. I speak of the attack upon us, and not of our ministry to those under attack. We defend our entire body from attack if a mosquito lands on our arm. So it must also be when our brothers and sisters, who comprise the body of Christ, fall under attack.

When we are under personal attack, it is war. Saint Paul wrote of the spiritual armor that we are to employ (Ephesians 6) during such battles. Our sword is the Word of God. Yet, rather than engage the enemy directly, we have much more powerful allies in heaven. We have the undefeatable sword, which is the Word made flesh. And so we call upon Him to come to our assistance.

We, ourselves are not immune to being corrected when we allow a spirit other than the Holy Spirit to infect our actions or words. “Get behind me, Satan! You have become a stumbling block to me” “You think not as God does, but as man does” said our Lord to Peter. Not exactly mild rebukes. How utterly humbling to have just been made the rock, given the keys to the Kingdom, then called “Satan”!

There are many messages for us in all matters spiritual.

The time in the hospital was the first of many things that have happened to me. That was in 03. Now the attacks are focused on my wife and kids. She is not handling it well and has become a different person all together. The marriage may not survive it. It is quite discouraging, having fought so hard and it come down to this. My family was my achilles heel and the enemy knows this. This is one thing too much for me. I’m kind of tiffed the Lord would allow this. I don’t see the lesson in it. Samson

Samson, I’m praying for your wife and for your family. God bless you.

Thanks, Snugglebugmom. Three years ago I learned it’s name before the Blessed Sacrament on three different occassions. The Church has helped in a lot of ways, but it is a tenecious thing. Since 03 there has been alot of loss, accidental deaths…both my parents, a fatal car wreck where the woman died in my arms…it has been horrible, but I have learned to handle my crosses. I thought that with the Lord, I could handle anything. But this family thing is doing a lot of damage. Samson

Samson, have you had your house blessed lately? or have your wife and children gone to the priest and asked for blessing/anointing? Do not give the devil the room to pester your family. he has no toehold in your life. you and your family belong to JESUS. take authority over your house and your family in HIS name. Shout it out loud. literally. In your home. (I sent you back a PM)

When I was helping my best friend check out some houses she was looking at (to buy one and move into), we opened the door, I stepped inside, did a U-turn and went back out into the yard. I just felt an overwhelming negativity and darkness. Neither one of us felt good about that house!

Fortunately, we also looked at another house and, without her telling me that it was the one she thought was right, I came to the same conclusion. She has been very blessed living in that house.

Thanks for the encouragment. I have not been able to get a Priest out here yet… in the last 6 years even. The church is about 45 minutes away. We have a new parish Priest that seems to be helpful in this area and will inquire again about it. Samson

It can not hear you when you pray and reach out to Jesus Christ. Sometimes Christ will tell you what to say to it to make it leave. The experience is terrible but when God comes to your aid that is great relief.

It is a known fact that the brain works with electrical impulses that can be measured and it works in an orderly fashion. At one time research was directed at making a lie detector from these brain waves. It appears that they can hear these active thoughts but theology says it can't access stored information i.e. read your mind freely. I know it can't hear when one prays nor when God speaks to someone.

I am not an expert but speak from limited experiences. These are my observations.

I was really tired because yesterday was taxing. I have to go for medical treatment now.

Those interested in praying should say deliverance prayers for the OP, Samson01, and everyone else. And those who have been attacked for a lengthy time need to speak to a priest who is experienced in these things. Because the Holy Spirit is working through His priests now. This is because there has been so many people walking away from God that God, I believe will show all we need the Church and the Holy Clergy.

That is how I feel and I am nobody, but I know that God works through His Clergy.

The angelic realm is defined as preternatural, versus God’s supernatural, intervention. I am somewhat of a psychic/mystic, as I think we all are on some subliminal level. I once heard a loud, stern voice in my head tersely telling me to go have a friend take lecithin, a soy supplement that is rich in choline. I did as told; was listened to and heeded, and the warts that had plagued this poor soul went away. So the next time I heard this voice, years later, the message had lots of credibility:
**
“Blight! Blight! Poverty and blight across the land! Insure! Insure!”** And in a milder tone, **“Interest rates will dwindle to nothing.” **This was in the late nineties just months before interest rates started ratcheting down, down, down to virtual zero today. I told my dad at the time and he scoffed at the American economy tanking…God bless America with Christ’s abundant life and may He make us “faithful and true” and give us holy leaders and make us His holy people. AMEN

I also saw and heard an angelic presence that was HUGE and which I identified as St. Michael asking me to write a book on the unique research I do showing, from antiquity, the laser-like continuum of monotheism and the Woman & Seed’s exaltation in the ancient world through to the Virgin Mary’s “Fiat.” Kenneth Kitchen’s observation that it is as if ancient cultures were reading right out of Genesis is spot-on. This is the ancients’ exaltation of Genesis 3:15. There is also the satanic rebellion against the office of the Woman/Queen and her Seed with women being turned into temple prostitutes and their children slain. WWSD? What Would Satan Do? God cursed Satan and his seed with the Woman & Seed of course he’d lash out. At that time, I also got the title which I remembered in a somewhat mangled form in that there was one other word–“Queen of Angels and Mother of Man.”

Then, a couple of years later, in that same are of my home, I was lying in bed and felt a distinctive living blackness come over me that I sensed was amoeba-shaped or kidney shaped and about 5 feet by 7 feet in circumference. It was darker than the dark bedroom, and slowly drifted through the wall, engulfing the top part of my body excluding knees, calves and feet. It drifted to the north-northwest. I was terrified as it had a highly malevolent presence. I slept with the lights on for a long time afterward. Later I happened to mention this to a guy at work who said that around the same time period a darker-than-dark presence came through his living room and he watched the cat freak out. It passed over a newly-cut rose that immediately wilted. I note that he lives to the north-northwest of me…

After that time period we both had incredible challenges with back pain and sciatica, God bless such like as us. I did realize, looking at light bang against a corner reflective surface, that the “Angel of Light” can be darker-than-dark via wave interference because when light bangs into light as in the corner reflective surface, it creates a super bright area and a super dark shadow. That’s natural and preternatural light, not divine light, says I, and the City of God will be illumined with a shadow-free divine light. I think the demonic oppression of the darker-than-dark form was to interfere with my research. Meh. I offer my suffering to God as part of the Body of Christ. “Trust in God and fear nothing,” as St. Teresa of Avila said. Many saints got physically buffeted and carried on, like St. John Vianney, the Cure of Ars. May we all have that same fortitude and prolific victories on God’s behalf.

My other angel observation is that when I would say the “St. Michael” prayer in walking around campus or off-campus at night my head would spontaneously turn and my eyes would focus right in on lurkers in the darkness. One time I even pretended I saw the lurker first and hid behind a tree as if I was stalking them. The pre-perp split. Colleges can have really high crime rates as did mine and I was spared a lot of grief, praise God. May the Holy Angels encamp about us, protect us, defend us, guide us and heal us, and restore all demonic devastation to wholeness, and make a spoil of the satanic for the elect, all for God’s honor and glory. AMEN

Thanks Blues…my former parish Priest and friend was a trusted confessor and quite level headed. He is out of Mount St. Mary’s with a theology masters after a drastic conversion experience as a UPS driver. He knows my story well and always calmly heard me out and come back with practical advice. He is now in a different parish and recovering/ struggling with stage 3 throat cancer. I am still in contact with him, but this experience has knocked him down pretty hard…not being able to celebrate the Mass and all. When he was gone, I contacted the Bishop in Wheeling and loosely, but articulatly explained a need for “specialized pastoral care”. He referred me to the priest who was to fill in for Padre and said if it wasn’t resolved to contact him again. Anyways, the whole diocese has been moved around it seems and our new Priest is said to be very willing to come by and provide in area’s that have been a problem. I don’t want to weird him out, but would rather ease into a dialogue in the confessional. He may not be interested in that during the Sacrament…some are, some aren’t. This is dicey ground unfortunately. I appreciate the prayers and really don’t like to reach out like this, but it is bubbling and things seem set on a bad road. Samson

It is in the new Priest’s job description to help you, or if he can’t or wont, refer you to someone else. And you will not weird him out. They have heard EVERYTHING ! I am praying for you and yours 🙂

Just wondering if it is common to “feel” the presence of the devil.

A priest once told our church he had felt the presence of the devil and he ran to get
holy water.

He never said he SAW the devil.

I wonder sometimes if anyone actually sees or feels the devil?
In these trying times, I wonder if people are hearing or feeling him/it more?

(i have not by the way) or not that I have been aware of.
I have seen them once in awhile. They do not scare or harm me at all. We should fear God.

To fear God truthfully one must fear evil as well.

Greetings Fgl9,

I dont’ know whether we should fear evil, but perhaps to respect that it’s there and to do everything we can do to keep it at bay. Having frequent recourse to the Sacraments, living a sin-free life, turnig our backs on what would interefere with our Union with God, and ect. Oh and to rely on God’s grace for everything.

God Bless.

Is not sin the personification of evil?. To fear sin is to avoid the occasion of sin.

I like this quote from Saint Teresa of Avila.

I feared them (the demons) so little, that the terrors, which until now oppressed me, quitted me altogether; and though I saw them occasionally, — I shall speak of this by and by, — I was never again afraid of them — on the contrary, they seemed to be afraid of me. I found myself endowed with a certain authority over them, given me by the Lord of all, so that I cared no more for them than for flies. They seem to be such cowards; for their strength fails them at the sight of any one who despises them. These enemies have not the courage to assail any but those whom they see ready to give in to them, or when God permits them to do so, for the greater good of His servants, whom they may try and torment.

I think that if we fear too much we give power to our adversary.
