Have you ever felt a Demonic Presence

Yes. The dark shapes that run along the floor or the walls and “melt” into corners. Always just faster than your eye can catch. Even though they are intended to discourage you, they often have the opposite effect - evidence of God’s grace working in your life.
They seem to like hanging around the oncology wards/floors. I was so scared that I was convulsing everytime I would start to fall asleep…my mind was fighting it so hard. They finaly knocked me out with some sedatives. Not a fun night.

I’m a skeptic. My faith in “God with us” is too strong to believe in what I will call nonsense. Anyone who does have such experiences should seek mental, physical and spiritual help.
It’s not nonsense. Just because you haven’t experienced these things doesn’t mean nobody else has.

I’ve had “mental” help from a Catholic psychiatrist, who as it turned out has had some of the same experiences I have. As a psychiatrist, I think he’d be qualified to know if it’s “nonsense” or not, wouldn’t you?

I’m not sure what the physical has to do with it, unless you’re talking about someone at death’s door. But most of us are alive and well, thank you.

At one stage, I sought “spiritual” help. Not much happened in my case, but I remember talking to a couple of Protestant exorcists who claimed they’d seen people levitating around the ceiling during some of their sessions. One exorcist commented, “You should see them (demons) carry on! They don’t want to go!”

It’s real. You might so far have led such an exemplary life that you’re protected from this stuff, but it’s happens to others. Padre Pio used to get hurled around the room by demonic forces, and he was a saint.

The demons written about in scripture and cast out by Jesus are metaphors for medical conditions not any kind of supernatural creature.
Rubbish.

Go and talk to exorcists who will tell you they’ve seen people floating around the ceiling during exorcisms.

It’s very intriguing at the same time, so I can’t help but read it. But then I get really scared! 😦
You shouldn’t be afraid, because knowledge allows you to know what is actually going on and what dangers to avoid. Fear of the unknown is really our greatest fear.

When the enemy starts attacking a person or doing scary things, it’s rather like a temper tantrum designed to make that person stop whatever they are doing to become Holy. Whatever good action that is being done is upsetting the enemy’s plans. It’s really a sign to keep moving toward Christ. The devil is like a mean dog on a leash. He’s barking and growling to scare the person away from doing God’s will. He can only go so far and then he must stop.

Be comforted in knowing that eventually all evil will come to an end.

Now I did not say that…I don’t know what he believes about demons. I was referring to believing literally what the bible says instead of interpreting the meaning.
The following link is to “Interview with an Exorcist” and the exorcist in question is employed by the Vatican as far as I know. You’ll note the references to the people “floating”, and that’s not due to a mental condition.

Good luck! I tried by linking the same interview through the Regnum Christi site. I also hope that Debora123 reads it as, rather than being frighteneing, it provides true hope and reassurance.

As far as cancer treatments go, I’ll tell you where they are not. That is in outpatiant chemo units. The one I went to had three blocks of about twenty seats. It was filled with outpatiants getting their daily daily, family members and caring triage nurses. There was so much caring, love and hope in there I’m now sure it drove the enemy out. It was a very comfortable setting. Makes you wonder about it doesn’t it.Samson

I have read the interview. Very interesting stuff. Thank you.

My husband thinks he might have experienced/felt the presence of the devil once a few years back (before we were married) and it still freaks me out to this day to think about it.

Yes, my wife is a bit more sensitive to spiritual affects, but yes… Thankfully not often.

Just hope it gave you a little comfort, that’s all! I will readily admit that the dark side of the supernatural can be a bit chilling at times. But, its power is limited and God’s is infinite. Amen.

OK, here’s one that perhaps all of us have experienced. This came up in a PM and it just struck me (I’m a little slow on the uptake :o) as an attack: You begin prayer and the yawns suddenly take over. Why then? Why so suddenly? Yawning is normal, right? But, the serpent is the most subtle of creatures in the garden. “Just take a nap. You don’t need to pray right now…”
Greetings po18guy,

Wow I yawned during reading this post. 😃 However, I think it is because I am exhuasted as always. Glad it is Sunday. Perhaps I can get some rest.

God Bless.

Yes, that is very true. The Devils boots don’t creek. There is also a fly in the Adoration Chapel (been there for months). It is the loudest fly I have ever heard. It diverts my attention away from the Blessed Sacrament and to him. Thankfully, I have plenty of Spiritual warfare prayers now 👍.

When my husband was a sophomore in college he had a weird dream that he was in a big department store like a Walmart or something and there was a loud storm outside. He then heard a voice coming from all directions saying “Brian, where is God?” The voice was so loud and powerful that he backed up into the walls and cowered down to his knees. He then responded with shouting back “God is everywhere sir!”

Right then he woke up, and it was still the middle of the night. He was in his dorm room with his roommate still asleep a few feet away. He told me that when he woke up from that dream he was absolutely horrified without knowing why - the dream he had woken up from wasn’t even a scary dream, but he was inexplicably terrified. His dorm room had a sink in it with a mirror hanging above it, so to calm himself down he got up out of bed and walked over to the sink to splash his face with some water and get a drink.

When he looked into the mirror, he saw a dark shadow in the shape of a hooded figure standing behind him. He turned around to confront the thing and saw nothing there, but when he turned back to the mirror, there it was again! At this point he closed his eyes, said a prayer and found it in him to crawl back into bed.

He told me that as he laid there, hyperventilating with fear, the only thing that kept him from running down the hallway screaming were his prayers and the soft breathing of his roommate just a few feet away.

He went to see his university’s priest the next morning, still crying and shaking with fear, but the priest told him it was nothing to worry about and that it was probably all just a bad dream. :hmmm:

Anyway, nothing like that has ever happened again. I guess the priest could be right and it could possibility have all just been in his head somehow… but I highly doubt that…

Has anyone here had a similar experience? Waking up in the middle of the night and feeling horrified for no apparent reason?

I’ve had a slightly different experience. I’ve often quoted that on the night my father died, he appeared in my room. He started with an apology, we talked and argued (nothing new in that), and at the end he gave this absolutely terrifying scream and then disappeared. As far as I’m concerned he’s in hell.

However some years earlier, I happened to be coming home when I saw him at his workbench under the house. I was walking up the side path towards the back stairs. But then I saw another figure with his back turned, and it looked like my father. My first thought was “Has he got another brother I don’t know about!?” (his only brother had died unexpectedly at about age 30 or so from a brain embolism some years before). But then this thing turned at me, grinned demonically, and drifted towards my father. It stood behind him, grinned at me again, and then seemed to merge with him. As it did so, my father looked at me and the look on his face was sheer hatred. (Actually there were other times when I’d see a demonic look on his face, particularly when he was drunk. What struck me about the eyes was the look of evil, but perhaps even more noticeable than the evil was the hatred).

I bolted up the back stairs. I was literally shaking and I wondered if I was going out of my mind. I managed to put it behind me, but later events (eg. the business of my father turning up the night he died), and other spiritual things that have happened, particularly since I became Christian, make me think it was a deliberate taunt, with the specific intention of upsetting me, which it certainly did at the time.

Yet prior to this event, I’d just been coming home and hadn’t even been giving spiritual or religious things a second thought. It came right out of the blue.

That’s just crazy. I have experienced something supernatural once before, but thank goodness it had nothing to do with the dark side. My experience was regarding the Virgin Mary.

I’m pretty sure I’d have to go sleep in the Vatican if anything demonic happened to me… I’d be so scared!

I really hope your father isn’t in Hell though… 😦

Well, that’s what happened. Both were singular incidents, in that nothing remotely like them occurred again. Both involved my father, whom my old pastor once described as a “cruel, stupid, bad-tempered, vindictive” man. And he didn’t even know him.

But by a “co-incidence” he later happened to be ministring to a former neighbour who lived two doors away, who was dying of cancer, and he also found out from him what he was like. In fact I think he found out a couple of things even I didn’t know, which had probably happened between neighbours. The neighbour’s comment to him was "He was a bad-tempered, miserable b_______d! Pardon the French, but nobody was sorry when he died!’ And not one neighbour turned up to his funeral, but when my mother died a good twenty years later, there were several neighbours present.

I can’t see why he would have gone to heaven. And I still remember the scream on the night he died, and appeared in my room.

I’ve had other experiences - “double whammies” (like a breath going through you in waves from head to foot, and which is an experience my Catholic psychiatrist also has experienced - in fact, “Double whammy” was his term, not mine), the disintegrating feeling I described earlier, heavy gripping pressures at night, etc., but only two which were so clearly visible, and they both involved my father.

in front of me one time will in my aspirancy years one guy was possessed by the devil. he was speaking latin and even corrected the latin grammar of our superior who is a priest and exorcist. we was strong and his eyes were all red. we was even about to float in the air but at the sight of the blessed sacrament the devil said we got weak… we looked straight at me… eye to eye. it was very scary to see eyes that red. i closed my eyes fast and prayed. smoke would come out when the priest sprinkle holy water…

maybe a devil was imitating him to give you despair on his probability to be in heaven. remember that devils do that over centuries even among lives of some saints you can find that same thing. Still pray for our father. if ever he is really in hell, then the merits of your prayer will still not be in vain. God will do some thing about the merits you earned

No. I have had strange, unsettling dreams but never witnessed something ‘wrong’ while conscious. The closest thing I’ve experienced is sleep paralysis: I woke up, and mostly conscious but completely unable to move. This is not at all uncommon and I think in most cases there are rational explanations to unusual circumstances.
