Yes, I admit it. Some of my sins are really embarassing to confess. Does anyone else feel like I do?
those are the gravest ones and the ones I most need to confess, the sooner the better. I would no more lie, prevaricate and avoid being honest with my confessor than I would my doctor, both attitudes are dangerous and could even be suicidal. Since I became aware years ago, through preparing young children for confession, that we confess to Jesus himself, who already knows all our mind and heart, that whole “embarrassment” issue never arises.Yes, I admit it. Some of my sins are really embarassing to confess. Does anyone else feel like I do?
Amen! Very well and clearly said. Sin is the only thing which can eternally separate us from God! It is not only embarrassing, it is damning.I’d be concerned if a peson wasn’t embarrassed by some of their sins - either their seriousness or the fact that they keep falling into sin in general. Embarrassment is an indication that one is aware of the true horror of sin, all sin.
Since the Priest sits in persona Christi, you were in essence considering Christ Himself to be smokin’ hot.I had one of the most intense confessions last night, and I was seriously reeling the entire way home. Here’s the issue - I just started going to Mass at this new parish a few months ago. And one of the priests? Smoking hot. To the point where I’ve confessed “impure thoughts” to the other priest before. Not mentioning names or specifics, but honesty in the fact that these impure thoughts are distracting me from focusing on Christ, both inside and outside of the church.
Last night, I really needed to go to confession to unburden myself of some of my weekly brain clutter. The only priest to confess to? Yep, Fr. Smoking Hot. So I knelt down and started with a few basic neglect sins, then all of a sudden all of my fears and worries and stresses just poured out. I even mentioned the “impure thoughts”, although I didn’t get into specifics again.
After talking for a long while, he actually drilled down and found some of the the “real” issues behind some of my stresses and my patterns, and gave me some solutions to help with them. And he reminded me of his Fatherly role in the parish, and how he represents Christ opening his arms with his love. Well, that’s some perspective.
So even though I was totally freaked out when I walked in there, I’m feeling much better about my spirituality and much better about my choice to go to this new parish. Only once have I ever gone to confession and walked out thinking, that was a waste of time. Every time, I’ve learned something new, about myself, my faith, or my sins. It’s worth the time, and the more I do it, not only do I become better at confessing, but I become stronger in not doing the things I should confess to. I’ve stopped so much of the big sins, and have started cleaning my mental house to get rid of the things that are keeping me from being as close to God as He wants me to be.
Prof. Scott Hahn told this to his confessor soon after his conversion to Catholicism. The wise priest asked him: “What do you want, new sins?”Sometimes feels ambarrasing confessing the same sins evert time I go.
Yes, of course I felt embarassed. My first confession was as an adult convert.Yes, I admit it. Some of my sins are really embarassing to confess. Does anyone else feel like I do?
Yes, especially when I was younger. I was really shy, and couldn’t even talk to people about ordinary things let alone my deepest darkest secrets and wrongdoings. But at the same time, confession is a great sacrament. I was embarassed, but confessing was humbing and afterward I always felt great. You really do receive a lot of graces from it, so even when I was super shy as a kid, I forced myself to go.Yes, I admit it. Some of my sins are really embarassing to confess. Awesome reply! I feel the same way. The more we bring our sins to light the more grace we get so we can overcome those sins we continue to commit.I’d be concerned if a peson wasn’t embarrassed by some of their sins - either their seriousness or the fact that they keep falling into sin in general. I’m so embarrased about the sins I make, that I won’t even go to my priest where I normaly attend. We are beyound very good friends outside the church itself. & I can’t bring myself to tell him about my sins. So! I just go too the Cath.church across town & let it all hang out…Honestly, yes… It hinders me from confessing my sins. I hope to have greater courage to confess all sins.
