We would all be terribly lacking in charity if no one on a Catholic forum did anything to try and move a soul to Jesus.
I understand, but he has made is decision. The only way to get him on “our side” is if he was a teenager, but I highly doubt that. Therefore, he stays a LaVeyan Satanist.

Nonsense. Anyone can be moved by the Holy Spirit. It’s not about getting him “on our side”, it is about saving a soul because you love that other person. Augustine, and Paul were not teenagers when they left their evil lives to become the greatest saints. Saints have been spoken to by God during all the different chapters of lives, and to say that because someone is a certain age they will not be converted is dangerous.

sigh :nope:

Yeah, but apparently, he has no interest in converting. He made that very clear. I love this person enough to respect his wishes… besides, I’ve always disliked persuading people to convert. It’s like the worst form of theft in my eyes, in my mind, and in the depths of my heart-- every place where God resides, I see conversion as a sin. Don’t ask because not even I know why. It’s just a deep conviction that grew within me. 😦

You know what is the single most difficult thing about being a diabolist?

Getting people to understand so they can be held completely accountable for their actions. I am just as dismayed as the fine upstanding Catholics on this forum. 😦

At least I can find solace in the knowledge that somethings are a given.
By given, I mean common sense.

Blade - You need to do some serious reading dear!

I know, but it’s *so hard *to get a hold of good book! :banghead:

“Human nature” as in being individuals, being independent, being creative, critical thinking people, even following instinct… basically, “Man as another animal, most vicious of them all.”

Christianity calls for the opposite. Being civilized as a society; being kind no matter what; refraining from being the equivalent of anything from the Animal Kingdom.
I find your insinuation that Christianity denies its followers exercise of their natural independent, creative, and thoughtful capacities to be insulting if intentional, and greatly misguided and problematic for someone whose profile identifies them as “Catholic” if unintentional. You are given these qualities which you claim Christianity tempers BY GOD, who came to Earth in the person of Jesus Christ to do the Father’s work. You have no natural inclinations that were not given to you by the One who knew you before you knew any of the philosophies you now espouse, before you even concieved. If you do not believe this, may I suggest that you talk to a priest in order to become better informed about the Church’s position on what is natural for humans and what is not.

We are not lions or cheetahs or any other of God’s creatures, so advocating that we behave as they may is not in fact returning to some mythical point in our past where we “naturally” behaved that way, but adopting amoral ways of being that were never characteristic of human beings to begin with.
I know… it’s a mess. :o I find it funny, though; so many of these faiths/lifestyles/philosophies can sometimes help define others. 😃 God, I love religion. ❤️
Call me joyless, but I do not find it so funny to love “religion” in any guise over the One True Religion (which is NOT “Satanism”). Sure, other religions can be interesting and have some truth, but in some cases they can be poisonous and destructive, and devoid of any truth. This second case fits Satanism to a T.

It’s not suppose to be funny. I was serious. The only destruction in this world of diverse religions is the intolerance some of them produce. 😦 Then again, it’s such an astonishing result… even if all Hell happens to break loose. I guess it’s worth it, in a way. :o

Sorry, I’m rambling again. 😃

Yeah, there are “wrong” churches here and there… mostly there, but that doesn’t mean we can’t admire them from afar.

No, that is incorrect. Christianity calls for a person to live up to their human nature, to truly conform to the living “image and likeness” of God our Creator.

But I think everyone in the world needs to realize that they could be wrong. There’s no saying who’s right until it’s over, there’s no such thing as a sure thing. Keep up with the questions, hope you’re having a good weekend!
The Catholic Church is not wrong, that is an ontological impossibility. The Universe would sooner cease to exist than the Catholic Church could be wrong on matters of faith and morals. The reason being is that the Church is the Bride of Christ and is taught by Him and His Spirit - Who is Truth itself.

It’s more like living *above *it. When you compare Christianity and LaVeyan Satanism (as bad as that sounds), Christianity seems more like a challenge; Satanism is almost a can-do! 😃

Ah… but I happen to be up for the challenge. 😉 So don’t think otherwise. 😛

I do not believe in Satan, I understand it’s a long thread with over 10 pages, so I just want to clear that up. No one wants to read that many posts in one sitting :P.
Then why not just call yourself a secular atheist?

No, what you seem to observe as human nature is the moral mess that mankind (with Satan’s help) has created through the fall. But Christianity is a reversion to the original created nature of man - as we were meant to be.

I think his point is that some people think Hinduism is right, some claim the LDS church is right, others think some other religion is right, and pretty much every one of those churches contend that all other churches are wrong. :hmmm:

All those other groups are wrong. If he recognizes that they are all wrong and only the Catholic faith is correct, that’s good. But, he seems to be a quite confused kid (not all that uncommon) who thinks, among other errors, that all truth is relative.

And why on earth or in heaven above should we admire what is false, or in the case of Satanism, what seeks to destroy the very anchor of our faith and our world? I don’t see anything to admire in that, even if those wrapped up in it claim that this isn’t their reason for practicing their religion.

Satan certainly does not tolerate that good should go on without attempting to sabotage it, and by the same token I will always be against His machinations which seek to destroy all good in the world as well as the source of that good and of the world itself, God. That is intolerance, for sure, but who ever said it was wrong to be intolerant of willful evil? (Satan, I would guess.)

I think you are confusing admiring the good impulse of the world of believers to worship God in a myriad of ways with admiring the actual ways that they do so. I certainly do admire the good, kind, and God-fearing Muslims and Jews I have known, but I would never be one of them because I do not want to ever even consider from afar abandoning God and the truth of His Church for anything, ever. I trust you feel the same or else you would not be Catholic, so perhaps you can understand my placing God and my belief in Him above appearing to be tolerant at the possible expense of my eternal soul.

Yeah, what human nature either *used to be *or was thought to be. I get what you’re saying, but when you read the nine Satanic statements, the nine Satanic sins, the five Satanic goals on their political agenda, and their eleven rules of the Earth, it seems as if it underestimates mankind even though it praises individual potentials that be infinite, depending on the person.

Christians (rather than Christianity itself) does not underestimate humankind, but hesitates in changing for the better and taking certain big steps, at certain times.

And why on earth or in heaven above should we admire what is false, or in the case of Satanism, what seeks to destroy the very anchor of our faith and our world?
Because it exists. It is here and I accept that. It is a religion and I want to learn about it.

And again, in the case of LaVeyan Satanism, Satan is not a physical being.

Everyone needs to realize that Satan is the master deceiver. He is a liar and the father of lies, a murder from the beginning. If you think that Satan cares for you, you are severely deluded. If you think he is worthy of praise and worship, you are among the most pitiable of men. All Satan cares about is trying to hurt God, and he thinks that by destroying your soul he can do that.

I would no sooner read the devil’s book(s) to know what they teach than I would drink poison to find out what its effects are. You are stupid, let me repeat, you are STUPID and MORONIC and a complete IMBECILE if you think that it is a good idea to try to learn Satanic teachings.

Satan and Satanism must be fiercely battled in all its forms by the Church. We are in a dour combat, and souls are at stake. Don’t let the devil fool you. Fight evil where ever it exists.
