I’ll give you a list of eligible bachelors if you give me a list of eligible bachelorettes. 😉
A man should be about 15 yrs older than woman …ideally:)
And if he is about five years younger? 😃

Let’s fight for her honor!

(I only wish she was around when I was 18… ok well maybe she was, but she was only like 3 then, I mean at the age she is now.)
lol Hey 15 years not bad at all. 😉 You know I have a very dear friends who married a man 12 almost 13 years older than her.

It’s sad though how today most men try to steal a ladies honor rather than protect it!
My mom tried setting me up with a young man I did not know I tryed to be open but… He was known as a very catholic man but he felt that religion had it’s place such as talking about too often was not right. I am the type of person where I want to marry a man who draws me closer to christ not one who tells me when I can and can not talk about him!
I started a new thread because my mom also thinks I should go to college to find a young man. She of course knows me and my reasons against it. There just has to be another way! Tell what all of you are involved with how do you meet other catholic singles?

God Bless,

Let’s wake up and smell the coffee here. First, getting married during the teen years is an invitation to disaster.
Wrong! only by todays society is it a disaster. Throughout history teens got married. The Virgin was a TEEN. Our faith in God has dwindled and therefore we have foresaken his plan

Why do we need such a cooshie cookies and milk life. what does God care about cookies and milk and cooshieness.

What does God care about Education. Does he only favor the educated? Was Joseph or Mary or Moses educated?
You’re absolutely right, but they didn’t have a car, a mortgage, gas bill, electric bill, health insurance, life insurance, phone bill, car insurance, water bill…in 2006, unless you are living in the woods, (which is illegal)…you have to have these things…

My mother was not even highschool educated. i have a degree and work in a very technical field. She has a heart of Gold and her faith in God is the center of her life. She has wisdom PHD’s would envy. The spirit gives you wisdom and truth not books. books just give you human knowledge

having the knowledge, gets you a job that pays the mortgage.

Where does faith in God play into this attitude?
people who are educated, don’t have faith in God?

How many times has Jesus told us to not worry? God has you. You just have to put all faith in him. It is your lack of faith that prevents you from being cared for.

Who says you have to rear children with the american standard of college, cars and everything else. How do you expect her future hubby to get to work? What about what God wants. the problem in this country is we always put God second. We only think about our own resourcefulness and our own desires, yeah, and I think that this is what this young woman is doingplans and wants. We need to get back to having faith in God and in God alone!

With your thinking, there will never be Catholics open to having lots of kids for God.

depends on the economy. A sad reality, but a reality just the same. If the church wants to kick in to pay some bills, we’ll talk.

OK deal! Send me your list first I know a few young women who are solid catholics!👍
haha I don’t know any solid Catholic men around here. 😦 I’m afraid there’s a shortage of those, at least those who aren’t priests. 🙂

Well then, don’t go to college, go to work. Get a place of your own, start building your credit, do some ministry work and carry on.

There is no such thing as the knight in shining armor on his fearless steed ready to swoop you up and carry you to his castle. Remember, she who waits for her knight, cleans up after his horse. Always have a plan B. “education” is the plan B, that some of the folks here are trying to convey to you.

Also, the age thing…I married a man, a year older than me…I wanted wanted to marry a man with commonality, I didn’t want another daddy.

Need someone to help work your corner?
Erm, actually, if you wouldn’t mind going out and fighting the battle for me. I’ll just sit back here and watch. Hey, I’m offering you the position of being my best man should you actually survive. You don’t have to kill the enemy, afterall, just weaken him enough so I can cross safely to her passage.

You are missing the point. the point is God did not ask us to have/do all that, he asked us to be married and multiply. We added all of those things. Why is it that the more modern and complex we get the less we trust in God fully?

having the knowledge, gets you a job that pays the mortgage.

There are many ways to gain knowledge. I consider myself pretty well educated and technical. i have many friends who make a lot more money than i do without ever having gon to College. In our labor market there aren’t such strict rules. Who ever is useful will make money.

people who are educated, don’t have faith in God?

I didn’t say that. I was making the point that you don’t have to be Educated for God to provide for you. We put so much faith in our own system and institutions and forget that all we need is faith in God.

Who says you have to rear children with the american standard of college, cars and everything else. How do you expect her future hubby to get to work?

being that i am neither a woman or Gay i won’t have a hubby. God’s providence does not need to be within our conventions. God is the master of everything, he can provide anyway he wants. why limit his providence to our system of education, work, rush our traffic commute etc? How will he do this? if i knew i would be God.

What about what God wants. the problem in this country is we always put God second. We only think about our own resourcefulness and our own desires, yeah, and I think that this is what this young woman is doing

I don’t agree. Her vocation is to be married and have kids. I think she is putting God’s calling and wisdom in front of her own. Most of us are too scared to blindly rely on God we would rather rely on ourselves.

*With your thinking, there will never be Catholics open to having lots of kids for God. *

From Gods perspective what is most important? If he created the universe in seven days what concern is it of his whether you get yourself a phd? i am sure he can create a few dollars for you if you are living his will in your life.

Hey, hey! A proper gentlemanly duel does not end in death…simply surrender. 😉

Since you made the challenge, I have the privelige of choosing the weapons. I pick bananas!

Now, go get him, Norseman! Do what Fr. Sheridan taught us and show the seminary proud.

There is. Just offer free bananas. There are bound to be all kinds of monkey shines who will go absolutely ape over you!

Kasi, I married young and I give my blessings to anyone who chooses that path in life if they are mature enough to take it seriously. However, my hubby and I dated for 2 years before getting engaged, and it took us another year to plan the wedding. Even if you met Mr. Wonderful today, marriage would still be years away. Use that time wisely.

Is college for everyone? Nope. But don’t base that decision on wanting to be a stay home mom. Life doesn’t always go as planned. My sister didn’t plan on being a single mom until her hubby of 9 years left her and their daughter for his long term g/f. She had to figure out a way to support herself. Afterall, she is Catholic. She couldn’t go looking for another man to marry or play house with. In the eyes of the Church, she is still married. The sacrifices she had to make were unbelievable. A degree would have improved the quality of her life immensely.

One of my best friends was a SAHM with a loving Catholic husband and two beautiful sons. They lived a charmed life until tragedy made her a widow at 32. Her college degree (nursing) allowed her to find a well paying job with a flexible schedule. She was able to remain in their home, continue home schooling their sons and devote all of her energy into her family, not some boss who only cared about the bottom line.

Another of my friends is a SAHM. Her hubby was laid off and has been unable to secure a comparable job. They had to move from their beautiful home to a tiny 2 bedroom apartment in the bad part of town. Talk about humbling. Now that all of her children are in school during the day, she has decided to use her degree and become a substitute teacher. That way she can supplement their income, be on the same schedule the children are and not have to worry about bringing work home with her. God willing her hubby will be able to find a good job soon. Until then she will be able to help pay the bills and set aside some savings so they aren’t stuck in that terrible place indefinitely.

Think a devout Catholic SAHM doesn’t “need” an education? Think again. Go to school. Expand your horizons. Learn as much as you can about the world around you. You’ll discover much about yourself in the process. Pray for the life you do want, but prepare for the life you don’t. That way you can handle anything life throws at you, “for better and for worse.” It will make you a better person, a better wife and a better mother to all those beautiful Catholic babies you plan on blessing the world with. 😉

I must clarify my position. There is a discrepancy between what is posted in my statement and what I was cited as saying in quotation. The truth is… I changed my mind.

I want the banana, the whole banana, and nothing but the banana… so help me Magilla Gorilla!
