Mexico City, Mexico, Mar 27, 2009 / 04:59 pm (CNA).- During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay.

Mrs. Clinton was received on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. by the rector of the Basilica, Msgr. Diego Monroy. Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion. After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

Not uncharitable, just ignorant of the history of the image - which is pretty darn ignorant.

The part of the article I found the most disturbing was the last paragraph – This evening Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to receive the highest award given by Planned Parenthood Federation of America – the Margaret Sanger Award, named for the organization’s founder, a noted eugenicist. The award will be presented at a gala event in Houston, Texas.

Add that to the list of reasons that, when I’m Pope, I will issue an order that Hillary Clinton be poked repeatedly in the ribs with sharp sticks.

Should have any Catholic expect any less from ANY POLITICIAN Catholic or otherwise ?

I’ve never seen any politician who walked in strict Christian steps during their reign in power
All Anti-Christ’s walk around in Sheep’s Clothing.

What was it Jesus once said; You’ll know them by their fruits.

MmmHmmm! :ehh:

C’mon, mate, didn’t you pay any attention to the Spanish inquisition at all? It’s “Fluffy pillows”

That being said, it’s altogether a fairly sad thing, dontcha think?

I’ll admit, I’ve been there. One minute in Church, and step in to the parking lot and BAM!

From Heaven to the world in less than sixty seconds. Poor Hilary. She took the world with her.

Looks like at least one of Hillary’s people didn’t do his homework.

I don’t know; maybe it’s me but shouldn’t one expect the Secretary of State know a little about what is on her itinerary? I mean shouldn’t one expect that an aid would at least brief her as to what she is about to see, where she is about to go, who she is about to meet? Whoever gave her the flowers, should have filled her in, don’t ya think?! Isn’t it the State Department that prides itself on knowing the customs, history, etiquette, and traditions of visiting dignitaries? How is it that when the head of that agency visits such a renowned place, she has no clue what she’s doing? :tsktsk: on Ms. Clinton for not caring enough to know before-hand where she was and the history of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Me thinks that someone’s head will roll on Ms. Hill’s staff after this one.

I’m sure she does not take being made a punch line very lightly.

I realize that she is not Catholic but certainly some of her staff could have instructed her about the sites she was going to see.

She needs to hire some new staff.

Where is my duct take. My head is about to explode on this one

Saying that,IMO, I have a feeling Hillary would not believe the truth about the image anyway. 🤷

Still lookin’ for it on MSM…anyone have an update?

I’m surprised the morning Chief of Staff confab with the smear mongers didn’t encourage this malaprop get above the fold notice to divert from the train wreck BO budget.

I saw her photo once and she was wearing a bracelet with small ovals of the Madonna…I wondered at the time if she even knew who it was

I guess she probably didn’t
