I am against abortion.

Here is the problem Lily. You say you are against abortion but you also say defensive remarks that contradict yourself. The contradictions are stronger than the declarations. I like you too, but I do not like your misinformed opinions. They are harmful. So I must call you out but do not wish to be uncharitable. I speak as one who has fractured the funny bone more than once.
😉

Because the Catholic Church teaches that abortion is intrinsically evil and that one should not support it politically, and because some will say it?
Of course not. I’m against abortion. It’s because we just aren’t civil to one another, and again, I don’t mean you. You are civil. In general, most of us snipe and name call, and to an outsider, we must look like the most horrible bunch of people on earth.

Well, that’s fine, Grotto. You, like all of us, are entitled to post your opinion, and you are not required to like me or agree with me. I respect the views of all on this forum. I’m willing to listen to why I should vote for someone else, but it can’t be abortion, abortion, abortion all the time. I need more reasons than that. I’m already against abortion. No one has to convince me of that. Cruz says he is against abortion. Fine. But I can’t stand him. Someone would have to give me some good reasons to vote for him other than the fact that he says he is against abortion.

Given that she is for abortion and you are not. Given that she is not trusted. Given that she has no coherent economic policy. Given all of these negatives, how could a Catholic support her?

I’ll admit, I wince every time she talks about “women’s rights,” but on matters of economic policy, foreign policy, I trust her. I see a coherent economic policy that I don’t see with any of the other candidates. I like Sanders, but I don’t think his proposals are workable. I think life will improve in the US under a President Clinton, and when life improves, more women keep their babies rather than abort them. Health care for the poor improved under Obama and abortion declined by thirteen percent. That is a good thing.

I don’t care about being respected on a forum, and I’m not out to change anyone’s vote. If no one else supports a Democrat but me I’m fine with that. We’re all just anonymous people on a message board. Why should any of us trust anyone else? I respect everyone as people, as children of God, but I don’t know anyone here personally, so my actual life is unaffected.

What is coherent about her economic policy? Do you think giving special breaks to Wall Street firms is really going to help the economy?

How about the fact Cruz is in favor of the North Carolina bathroom law while both Clinton and Trump are opposed to it? I can’t think of a more pressing issue of our time and Cruz’s conservatism and common sense shine through so admirably on this issue. Now you can cast your vote for Cruz with pride for a true (North) American.

That is pretty pressing, MB! I will have to give Cruz some more thought. Thank you! 😉

How could her foreign policy possibly be worse, short of nuking western European capitals?

-She warred on Libya, turning it over to terrorists, and laughed about the torture-death of Khaddaffi. That joking about his death should, alone, disqualify her. Doesn’t pass the “creepy sociopath” test.

-She acted to displace Mubarak and turn Egypt over to the Muslim Brotherhood, then, after Al-Sisi took over, opposed him.

-We now are backing competing sides in the Syrian civil war, but not providing arms to the Kurds.

-Our air force is effectively the Iranian Air Force, backing the Shia militias in Iraq.

-The “reset” with Russia has resulted in massively greater Russian presence in the Middle East and the conquest of nearly 1/2 of Ukraine by Russia.

-The Iran nuke deal is already violated and the U.S. has turned over billions of dollars to Iran.

-Iraq was abandoned against the advice and warnings of the Joint Chiefs, the CIA, the DIA, the Kurds, Sunni leaders and Sistani Shia, effectively dividing most of the country between ISIS and Iran.

-She exposed top secret information to every hacker in the universe.

There is no possibility whatever that anybody, Republican or Democrat, could do worse.

No, but it will help her economy. As president, she will be even more valuable to them than she was as Secretary of State, and the value of Bill Clinton’s speeches will increase exponentially. Good for his economy too.

Nobody has implemented pay to play better than the Clintons. I am not sure how one could defend it though.

It’s impossible to defend on any grounds because, besides being corrupt, it’s inefficient from the country’s standpoint. It costs the country massively more than the amount of the payoff to the politician. Direct theft from the Treasury would be much cheaper.

For perhaps the first time ever, MB, I can’t tell if you’re joking. I do know, however, that I hope you are…

Just saw this article, which confirms how much the Clintons are on the take. As Wally from Dilbert has said: “What is the point of having power if you can’t abuse it”.

From the article:
“The problem is whether all these interests who paid her to appear before them will expect to have special access when they have an issue before the government,” said Lawrence M. Noble, general counsel of the Campaign Legal Center, a Washington-based election watchdog group.
And who knows what fodder email hackers have to blackmail her?

She is owned on so many levels.

I recall a lawyer friend of mine telling me how often he gets offers of cash from clients and potential clients. Their idea is that if they pay in greenbacks, the lawyer won’t have to report to the IRS and will give a discount for it.

The trouble with that, the lawyer said, is not only that it’s immoral, but then you’re owned by every crook who ever did that, because any one of them could blackmail you, threatening to go to the IRS and report you. you can never trust one who cheats.

Hillary owes a lot of people, and will learn how many more she owes if she’s elected.

No matter how much one may like her stance on the issues, this is the reason she should never be president. I would vote for Bernie before I voted for her. If I were a liberal, that is. :o

I would vote for Sanders before her as well.

Truth is, there are no “issues” for which she has an answer other than abortion on demand, and we know where she is on that.

I would vote for Sanders because I doubt he’s corrupt or a feckless warmonger, or worse, a war starter for money. While Blumenthal was pursuing oil contracts in Libya, and he and Hillary Clinton were communicating about events there against Obama’s wishes, what was the communication about? Did we perhaps start a war because Blumenthal thought he could get an oil contract from his favorite gang of Islamists?

It’s really troubling to think about. Even Obama now admits it was a “mistake” to attack Libya. It could have been something a lot worse.

Well, I voted for Bernie first. I don’t think he stands a chance of winning the nomination, though. I don’t think Trump does, either. Oh, well, both have a chance, but it’s so remote and complicated, it might as well be zero.

I think it’ll be Hillary and someone who hasn’t even campaigned yet.
