Nate Silver is the man who in September 2015 said Donald Trump had a 5% chance of winning the Republican nomination, per following Slate article. By January 2016, he said, “Things are lining up better for Trump than I would have imagined, however.”

Did Trump just beat expectations?

Here are some of the articles written by Nate Silver during the Republican primaries:

This doesn’t mean that Nate Silver’s prediction numbers about Clinton and Trump’s chances now are inaccurate, but look what he said about Trump during the primaries… and didn’t he appear to be convinced Trump didn’t have much of a shot to the nomination because of polls? If Nate Silver was correct in September, Donald Trump shouldn’t be the presumptive Republican nominee currently, should he?
It’s true that Nate, like most every other pundit, was incorrect about Trump. Still, he called Trump races correctly in almost every state. Clearly, Trump swept a majority of voters in the Republican primaries. That won’t happen in the GE.

Despite this, the Attorney General who will be deciding whether Hillary should be indicted met quietly with Hillary’s husband on the AG’s private plane, sitting on the tarmac at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport, for a half hour. She brushed aside concerns about the appearance of impropriety of meeting privately with the husband of the subject of a criminal investigation by the FBI. She claimed that they just talked about their grandchildren, and the golf games Bill played in Phoenix. (In Phoenix. On a 115 degree day…)

And, hey, late Wednesday her DOJ filed a motion in federal court seeking a 27-month delay in producing correspondence between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s four top aides and officials with the Clinton Foundation and Teneo Holdings, a closely allied public relations firm that Bill Clinton helped launch.

If the court permits the delay, the public won’t be able to read the communications until October 2018, about 22 months into her prospective first term as President.

You already DO live in such a country.
Our tax $ funds planned parenthood at a rate of $500+ million a YEAR…and we don’t have very good security at the border…plus, we need to verify that new immigrants are not actually really terorists in disguise…the wife in San Bernardino shootings lied on her application.

It is looking bleak for conservatives right. I think an upset may actually happen though. If a liberal nation like Britain can vote to leave the EU, Trump can defeat Clinton in the more conservative United States.
Britain is falling apart right now. Most Americans have no interest in falling apart.

I followed baseball and Nate Silver did some interesting work there as well, but I always felt that the statistical model he uses is one where his thumbs a bit on the scale (after all, there were points where Obama should have had a 100% chance of winning in 2008 and Silver still had it less than 100%. So, I take his work with a grain of salt.

That said, Clinton is in a very strong position, even a stronger one than Obama was in in either 2008 or 2012. With a good ‘get out the vote’ effort, Clinton will win. Quinnipiac’s national data is an outlier in favor of Trump and this suggests that the ‘toss-up’ states are in better shape than their polling shows. PPP recently put out data that has Clinton winning every state (Arizona is not toss-up or at least shouldn’t be). This one could be 350-190 for Clinton, which is amazing given that she is a flawed candidate.
Great post, CB. I also followed some of Nate’s sports predictions - he’s definitely got game.

While it’s early, I also believe that Clinton could be ushered into the White House via a landslide. Fascinating election season!

If Hilary gets into office, America is as good as dead…
People said the same thing about Obama, but America is doing well. It’s dramatic rhetoric. One single President simply doesn’t have that much power.

Interesting that we’ll somehow be able to perfectly vet every person coming in as a “refugee”, but going through all that email is sooooo haaaaaard that they need 27 months more.

Conspiracy theories are truly the lifeblood of much of the Republican Party base. And now the Party’s standard-bearer is the biggest conspiracy theorist of them all. Sad really…🤷

What conspiracy is there? Hillary thinks we should “just trust her” after she’s been kicked off the Watergate case for unethical conduct, lied about taking fire in Bosnia, I’m pretty sure she stole art and furniture from the White House, and not only did she lie about why Benghazi was attacked, now she’s trying to stop us from finding out why.

Not everything is a “right-wing conspiracy”, sometimes democrats are just that corrupt.

If Hillary is elected, abortion will be more available than ever. We will be forced to spend more and more of our tax dollars for the murder of unborn children.

This evil can only be stopped by prayer, fasting, the Rosary and attending many masses.

Simply implying discussion of true facts is conspiracy theorizing doesn’t make it so.

this is really frightening!!! this is like out of a movie. God help us if she gets elected! and the democrats think this is ok?

I hope you are kidding.
A lot of Americans seem to think the US is doing relatively well based on Obama’s approval ratings:
President Obama’s latest approval ratings show that he’s not only cementing his legacy - he could also be helping Hillary Clinton in the process.
The President’s approval rating keeps going up - with 52% of Americans approving of his performance in the White House, a new poll finds.
Obama’s latest approval rating shows that at this stage of his presidency he ranks as the most positively-viewed second-term president in recent history.
Both Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton were viewed favorably by just under half of adults in the summer of their final year in the White House, while George W. Bush’s favorability numbers stood at a poor 38% in the summer 2008.

Leftist are really indifferent to the facts that show their leaders in a bad light.

There is no consequence for even the most egregious behavior and ethical misconduct when it comes to Democratic politicians. Democrats simply do not care what their elected officials do.

They are laughing at the American public while they do whatever they please in violation of the law and all decency.

What theory, Sheep? These are all facts that no one contests. Is the FBI also engaged in making up “conspiracy theories” as well? Did the Attorney General deny her very inappropriate and unusual talk with Bill? Do you really believe they talked about anything but this case or that it was even appropriate to begin with, even if they did?

It’s ludicrous that anyone with such damning evidence against them, Democrat or Republican, could be allowed to run. In the case of Hillary, she was not some newbie politician, and should certainly have known better, which to me makes her even more culpable than an inexperienced state “employee”.
Sadly, anyone who supports or defends her (and there are plenty of “faith filled” folks on here who do so) clearly cares nothing for their safety or their children’s safety. The problem is the support is an invitation for attacks and death that is indiscriminate when it happens; my children are as likely a target as the children of someone who votes for her. She is ripe for blackmail, ripe for making deals to sell out the US, and our secrets are in the hands of our enemies, and she and her supporters (on here) couldn’t care less. Perhaps when the casualties are their own children or other dead relatives it will hit home.

Too many people in this country really have concept of the seriousness of what she did, or of the vote for President in general. It’s disgusting that they can even vote.

Dismissive brush offs and claims of paranoia are the lifeblood of the leftist posters on this board. If you are simply going to ignore the specifics of a topic with claims of conspiracy, why bother clogging the board?

*A private meeting at the city’s airport between Ms. Lynch and former President Bill Clinton this week set off a political uproar.

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch plans to announce on Friday that she will accept whatever recommendation career prosecutors and the F.B.I. director make about whether to bring charges related to Hillary Clinton’s personal email server, a Justice Department official said. Her decision removes the possibility that a political appointee will overrule investigators in the case.

The Justice Department had been moving toward such an arrangement for months — officials said in April that it was being considered — but a private meeting between Ms. Lynch and former President Bill Clinton this week set off a political furor and made the decision all but inevitable*

…continued…

Thank goodness she became yet another person on the “women who just happened to run into Bill Clinton outside a restroom at an airport” list. That basically forced this decision.

If you want a chuckle, go back and read some of the right wing “predictions” from 08 of what will happen if Obama is elected.
