The only thing that can change a person is the body and blood of christ. Not a symbolic cross, cracker, and grape juice.

That diamond studded cross is about as likely to change the heart of Hillary as the cross that the material girl hung herself on.

Lastly, Hillary is an Illuminist she not christian. She is using the symbol of the cross as a symbol of what she is going to do.
Wow! It’s amazing how mortal humans can tell the fate and spiritual beliefs of any other mortal human!! Did I miss the memo that only trad rads have this “special” enlightment gift?

And IMHO…big deal…who cares if she wears a cross or a bone through her nose. Geez louise…some of you need to get a life.

Estesbob, you keep making references to Sen. Clinton ‘fully’ and ‘avidly’ supporting abortion. As MikeWM said, Sen. Clinton’s actual position is that she hopes that abortion will be an extremely rare occurence and her support of the 95-10 plan-- which has tons of good ideas in it, though you seem convinced it is simply a Democratic ‘straw man’-- doesn’t tell me that she is avid supporter of abortion.

Also, I’m not sure what the point of your story is regarding your pastor. His comments don’t seem to be very mature or charitable. Also, he doesn’t seem to be very respectful of the Catholic Church’s position not to become overly involved in contemporary politics.
The 95-10 plan is a joke-it does NOTHING to stop abortion. She has never made any secret of the fact she is an avid supporter of abortion.

Even Hitler and Stalin did some Good works. Should I be greatfull for them? No. In the end they rejected Christ and promoted death.
And neither of them were as complicit is an many deaths as she is.

I do support this…
We support **helping pregnant women **many who believe abortion is their only option. Congressman Lincoln Davis (D-TN) and Pro-life Democrats in Congress who share this same commitment will introduce the Pregnant Women Support Act, a comprehensive bill to provide support for pregnant women who want to carry their child to term.

Some of the programs included are:
  • establishing a toll-free number to direct women to places that will provide support and Pregnancy Counseling and Childcare on University Campuses,
  • requiring doctors to provide accurate information to patients receiving a positive results from prenatal testing and counseling in maternity group homes,
  • making the Adoption Tax Credits Permanent and Increase Tax Credit
  • The legislation would eliminate pregnancy as a pre-existing condition,
  • supports Informed Consent for Abortion Services,
  • increases Funding for Domestic Violence Programs,
  • requires the SCHIP to cover pregnant women and unborn children.
  • It further provides free home visits by registered nurses for new mothers,
  • incentives to reduce teen pregnancy and provides protection for pregnant college students who wish to continue their education
…except for the free home visits by RNs…what’s up with that?

However, I don’t see empirically how they expect to reduce abortions by 95% by this alone. They seem to take a don’t ask don’t tell on contraceptive - I think it’s group is split, but they seem to support federal spending on making contraceptives available.

Anyway, it is unfortunate that the legislation wasn’t introduced this year…before the election. Are they waiting with the hopes that more pro-life Democrats get elected? 😛

BTW…just to stay on topic, I’m against the gossip against Hillary’s wearing of the cross. I think it’s crass. That said, I hope and pray she never becomes President, as she is an enemy of the pro-life cause.

What’s wrong with Hilary’s plan for free home visits by RNs (Registered Nurses)???

Sounds like a good thing to me - they can be taught to look out for things like early signs of postnatal depression (which often becomes more visible after the return home with baby)

Nothing wrong with it but is in no way absolves her for suppoting abortion.

She also voted against banning the parshal birth abortion and she is adament about keeping abortion legal. Yes - very Christian of her.
What’s her position on parental notification?

And if memory serves, the title of her book was “It Takes a Village”, rather than “It Takes a Family”.

Well for one…nothing regarding Hillary. 🙂

What I think is strange is that regular medical coverage for pregnancy doesn’t included home visits by RNs. Why in the world is it a component in this proposal? They can go down to the clinic and/or hospital like my wife and I did during all four of our kids. Home visits are expensive.

Doesn’t Hillary have a track record on health care?

Seems to me she set up some kind of commission that intended to ramrod the nationalizing of health care. She denied it and then somehow the minutes of the meetings (involving 500 people) turned up.

So, I guess she can be expected to set up somthing like FEMA for health care.

Some good might come from it, but not much good. And a LOT of mischief and rationing.

Good point! Maybe she signed on because she was excited about the free home visits, but she didn’t realize they are also for informed consent.

You mean like that great example of health-care public policy that actually did make it through Congress- the Republican-sponsored 2004 Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Plan that is estimated to cost the taxpayers $1.2 trillion over the next decade?

Was that the one where they kept a vote open for over 3 hours because they were going to lose it, and had to twist people’s arms to change their vote?

There are some advantages to having a non-partisan Speaker of the House, like we do 🙂

Let’s not get ***too ***far off track. 😛 😃 How about that cross…might sparkly for a small cross, eh?

But, does the Speaker wear a cross? And if so, why does he wear it…is he just angling for Christian support? :ehh: 😃

Inquiring minds want to know! 😛

Edit - added smilies and again for grammar

And opened wallets of course. 🙂

Yes! The very one that Senator Kennedy (D- Mass.) said was vastly too expensive, but also woefully inadequate.

So, President Bush gave the Republicans the ability to say they passed a prescription drug bill on the one hand, but one which is moderate compared to what the Democrats would pass if they won the election in November.

A little more charity, please.

But, does the Speaker wear a cross?
He’s a Catholic - the first Catholic Speaker since the Reformation 🙂 I’m not sure he wears a (visible) cross while he’s being the Speaker though.
*On normal sitting days, the Speaker wears a black cloth court suit with linen bands, over which is worn a black silk robe with train.
Betty Boothroyd decided against wearing the full-bottomed wig used by her predecessors.*

Michael Martin doesn’t wear the wig either, thank goodness.

You don’t see many people wear bands anymore. The odd Lord in the House of Lords, and the odd CofE minister. And students graduating from Cambridge University 😉
And if so, why does he wear it…is he just angling for Christian support? :ehh: 😃
He possibly needs it. He had an impossible job to start with, following on from the universally popular Betty Boothroyd, and he’s not been that good a Speaker anyway unfortunately.

Hopefully I’m being helpful enough to avoid complaints about changing the topic 🙂
