Similar to the U.S. right now. Mass shootings, pipe bombs through a postal service, opiate epidemic, illiteracy, large portions of the population uninsured, PTSD for war weary vets, but the military industrial complex is hailed as mauvelous dahling, simply mauvelous.
We can only hope and pray to never have to live in a place like Honduras, El Salvador, or many, MANY sections of Mexico. To think it is similar to the IS right now is kidding yourself. We do have problems, but nothing even close to those areas and many other parts of the world.

I understand. We all see what has to improve and the amount of problems to surmount. And we have to,so as to improve life around us.
But there is a difference, probably more than one but I will point this one out again: in Honduras about 90℅ of crime goes unpunished. Nobody can live where the Justice system doesn’t t work And I really mean it. One thing is to sense unsafety, another one us to live permanently unsafe and have criminals go in one door in jail ( if ever…) and leave the other one on the same day.
It is impossible to live like that.
Yes,we all have problems to deal with but some have, say, the structure almost broken.
And I am sorry for all the issues you have mentioned ,it hurts …it really does.

Btw, Pope Francis is an Italian American pope. His parents were Italian immigrants.

Let’s stop comparing us to places like Honduras, and begin comparing ourselves to other cultures similar to ourselves. Something is wrong with the picture. There is stupidity and then there is ignorance. Ignorance is the better of the two because it proves hope once you have educated yourself, unless it remains willful after having done so. Houston, we have a problem.

You are the one that compared the US to Honduras. I pointed out that there really is no comparison. I am glad you agree.

Absolutely, and by doing so I can concur with those that are fleeing the situation.

BTW, compared to the other so called “civilized” countries not unlike ourselves that rank was from 2010, and I’ll bet it gives us a ‘better than now’ picture of where we stand as a laughing stock of country with very little concern over the welfare of our people when we clearly acknowledge a problem…And go on to take NO action.

ciao’

Then, Pope Benedict was a German European Pope. One is just playing wordgames. Perhaps, one could learn from the Holy Father’s demeanor.

If a migrant kills someone in a country or commits other criminal acts, immigration doves should likewise, bear some responsibility for such action as well. If one encourages illegal immigration, and crimes including murder happen during the immigration, immigration doves likewise, should acknowledge their role. If organized crime benefits from such illegal immigration, immigration doves need to acknowledge this and not be dishonest. The same if terrorist attacks are involved as well.

Against, we can look at the Vatican state and ponder how much immigration they are allowing in. Ditto for Israel. We can help people. That can have its limits as in Israel, generous country but they aren’t allowing all of those people citizenship.

I’m in the camp of Good fences make good neighbours And if anyone has ever been to Vatican City or Israel, boy do they know how to build some of the best fences.

The Vatican state has the most open border on earth. It is a line on the ground that you don’t notice unless you are looking for it! And I have physically been there, one moment you are walking on the sidewalk in Rome and POOF you have walked into the Vatican!

The Vatican is only 100 acres with fewer than 600 citizens, tens of thousands of tourists, space is at a premium!

However, the Holy Father has extended a warm welcome to those who seek refuge:

You do seem to hold the nation of Israel in great esteem, that is your personal decision. It is not, however, binding upon Catholics to adhere to the political decisions of Israel.

If one is truly pro-life, it needs to be said, be cautious as to what granting mass citizenship can do to the electorate. It might even functionally end the pro-life cause in America.
Or it might bring the Democrats back to the side of LIFE. Most Latin Americans are opposed to abortion and have the some of the tightest controls on abortions as well. Some of the strongest family bonds as well.

22 million.

or 33 million.
Yes, and there is a legitimate concern and some states or at least, one, already demonstrate that granting massive citizenship could turn us into a very pro-choice nation. One can deny it, the proof is already in the pudding.

Is the Vatican giving them a vote on issues confronting the Vatican nation and how the Vatican governs? Citizenship?

Then, why isn’t this the case in California? And to a lesser extent New Mexico ( very lenient abortion laws even with a relatively small population) or Colorado. Admittedly, there are significant differences and distinct causes in all three states. But I do think it is more likely laws would become more lenient and I don’t want to see bills such as was in California on home do-it-yourself abortions in the US Congress or other states. Thankfully, I don’t believe that bill passed, this time at least.

Sure, most or some Latin American countries have strict abortion laws. They are fleeing those countries for one reason or another.

Why not do an exchange similar to student exchanges from one country to the next. We’ll take an immigrant looking for a better way of life and fleeing gangs, corruption and all bad things once they have completed the vetting process that is set up by the U.S. immigration office.

We get rid of the bad American actors committing homicide, arson and the like and have them take their guns with them, i.e. they loose citizenship.

There. That should do it!~You hurt your fellow citizen, you’re out!~

Problem solved. Have an apple.
