I believe Scandinavian-speaking Lutheran congregations still exist in Minnesota, and would not be surprised to hear they exist in Seattle, and probably elsewhere (I know of a Swedish congregation in central Massachusetts, e.g.) as well. Here in New York, we had Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian Lutheran congregations. I’m not sure of the status of the Danish one (I believe it was called the Danish Seaman’s Church), but the Swedish One is still kicking. There were, if memory serves, two Norwegian congregations: one was closed some 25 years ago, but the other, last I heard, is still functioning. To my knowledge, there are no Icelandic or Faeroese-speaking congregations in the US, but I think there is an Icelandic-speaking one in Manitoba. One of my Grandfathers immigrated from Denmark, … At the time he immigrated he was a Lutheran. Of course, all of the Lutheran Church’s services, in this country, were held in English.
