House passes amendment to defund Planned Parenthood, 240-185

I would’t count on it, it will take at least a generation before a lot people are even willing to consider trusting the democrats with power again. We’ve never seen anything like the last two years in the entire history of our country, the obstinance and willful ignoring of the will of the American people. No party has ever simply given the middle finger to the majority wishes of the people before, last year when it was obvious that most of the public was against this takeover of our Health Care, instead of doing the “democratic” thing, like Bill Clinton did years earlier, and respect the people’s wishes and drop it, they just said “hey, we’ll just smear anyone against it as “racists” and ram this thing through anyway” It’s going to take a long long time before millions of Americans will ever consider voting for that party again.

Actually they did take significant steps towards defunding abortion. Remember it was the Republicans who pushedthorugh the Hyde amendment and Republican presidents that instituted the Mexico City policy. But for those desperately trying to reconcile their support of the Democratic Party with their faith there is nothing the Republican Party can do about abortion that will make them happy.

It may very well be blocked by the DEMOCRATS in the Senate. A fact which faithful Catholics need to keep in mind when the 2012 elections roll around

I’d have to disagree with this. You are falling into the same trap that many fell into in 2006 and 2008 when they said the Republican party would have trouble regaining power. Except the reason wasn’t health care, it was the Iraq war. The trend is clear. Dems held power for 40 years before the GOP took over in 1992. They held power for 14 years before going back to the Dems. That lasted only 4 years. It seems to reflect our faster paced society today as a whole. Things change faster now thanks to the Internet, cable, etc.

Sorry, but you either didn’t read or understand my post. I said millions of Americans will never vote to put the Democrats in power again because the democrats ruled AGAINST the will of the people, they even tried to brand millions of Americans against the government takeover of Health Care as “racists”. You bring up the Iraq war, somewhere like 90% of the country backed the invasion of Iraq, George Bush and the Republicans did NOT govern against the will of the people. Again, in the history of this country we’ve never had a party in power that just ignored the will of the American people, the contempt for the people is unprecedented, and it WILL NOT be soon forgotten.
 
Many “Catholics” in the Senate will contribute to its defeat. And should it pass, President " I support partial birth abortions" Obama would probably veto it.

Okay. 90 percent Americans did not support the Iraq war at the beginning. Not even close. A quick Google search found that not quite 70 percent did in 2003. I would also argue that a majority of Americans want some kind of heath care reform. You seem to forget the vast number of centrist voters that don’t really care what our leaders did yesterday, not to mention last year or several years ago. They will vote for who they “like”. That’s part of the reason why things swing back and forth so much now. It’s the non-affiliated centrists who decide most elections.

Great, I’ll give you that “mere” 70%. that’s called governing with the will of the people. I live in Massachusetts, the bluest state in the nation, and even we elected a Republican to Ted Kennedy’s seat to stop the democrats mad push to take over health care, and the Democrats even ignored that call from the people. It was unprecedented in our history, you can stay in denial in you’re a democrat but the fact is they’ve lost millions of Americans for a generation.

PP says the $$ they spend on abortions is there’s. The $$ they use to provide services is US funded…

I guess, like the rest of us, when we can’t get a grant or someone elses money to do things we NEED to, then we take the $$ for things we WANT, and we spend it on the the things we NEED…

Many of us call it prioritizing.

And so… perhaps they better do a better job “educating” women on how not to get PG in the first place… 'cause if they want to kill their baby later… It will cost them. As there will be no more avail. funds to let the freely do it!

At least… IMO…

Free examinations, sex education, contraception, screening for STD’s, PAP smears and low-cost mammograms. PP is heavily supported by private groups, foundationds and private donations.

This neophyte, inexperienced and ideologic group of tea party Republican congresspeople is now hearing from their irate constituents about other things they are cutting or eliminating: Pell grantsto fund college educations, Head Start, senior centers which provide very low cost meals, activities and medical services, and other services to the poor and disadvantaged. All of this is going to blow up in their faces in 2012 as it is now.
 
  1. Sex education: Yes, I’ve seen the type of “education” PP provides. I’ve even written about it. It all boils down to “have lots and lots of immoral sex, even homosexual sex, just be sure to use a condom”.
  2. Contraception: Immoral and sinful; read Humanae Vitae and wise up.
  3. STD screenings, pap screens, etc.: You can get those elsewhere without having to go to an organization that spends tax payer dollars on, and makes blood money from, baby murder.
PP is an organization drowning in the blood of innocent unborn babies and I don’t want a single cent of our tax dollars going to these butchers!
