I had more respect for you than that. Instead of trying to prove that the Church had no authority (which you cannot, as Jesus CLEARLY gave the authority to the Apostles), you go on a tangent about the sex abuse thing.Well; I agree with you that the Catholic Church did do this with the Sabbath - but neither I or the Bible agree with you that they had the right to do so. If your Church is so good at math - how come they can’t answer how many sexually abused children by priests is too many? If your Church has such “authority,” why do they have to advocate their Sunday doctrines through political force?
In psychology, someone who keeps returning to a topic, even if it is not important, has a fixation. Why are you fixated on the sex abuse issue? Do you need help? Have you been abused? Please, if you have, get some help. If you know of someone who has, get some help.
But, for the record, we have released the data on it. According to non-Catholic research, the likelyhood of being molested by a non-Catholic minister is vastly greater. Less than 1% of all CAtholic priests were accused of anything. If you accept the rule of 4, that says for every accusation, there are 4 not reported, it is still less than 4%! This is far less than the population as a whole, far less than non-Catholic clergy.
The reason that politcal force was ever used in relation to Church teachings is because at one time, rulers saw themselves as an arm of God. IT is not because the Church did not have authority. It is because man TRUSTED GOD and HIS WORD that the CATHOLIC CHURCH was CORRECT.
Now, show me where Jesus DID NOT GIVE AUTHORITY to his followers.
