Jesus did not establish the Catholic religion - only the Protestant one
nice try at taking a quote out of context…read the whole of this part of scripture and you will find that Christ was speaking about dishonouring one’s parents…Christ never protested the Jewish religion…how could He protest that which He was sent to fulfill??

The Scripture is pretty clear:
Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Jesus wasn’t talking to the Martians here!

101, I hope that you are well. Since I’m fighting cancer, I will also take up the gauntlet here.

Christ’s Church must be Apostolic. From Acts, this occurs by the laying on of hands. SDA do not follow this and cannot trace their beliefs (or their church) back further than Hiram Miller in the 1840s (I know! He did not found SDA, but one of his disciples Ellen Gould White, was instrumental in the years following). Neither Miller, nor EGW were Apostles, or their successors by the laying on of hands. Difference.

Again from Acts, they do not gather on the Lord’s day as the Apostles did. They do not celebrate Easter, as the Apostles did by gathering on the day in which Christ chose to rise from the dead. “I have the power to lay my life down and pick it up again”. “The Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath”. Difference.

There is no magisterium in the SDA church and it does not make binding decisions on faith and morals. Take contraception…they fell in with all of the other Protestants after the 1930s, when the wall began to crumble. Why did the meaning of scripture change? O, did it? It’s certainly not recommended in scripture. Difference.

The SDA have no Oral teaching tradition, relying solely on scripture. The Apostles did not, and could not rely solely on scripture, as the scripture available to them was a few epistles. Also, the NT writings had not all been written during their lives. Difference.

Scripture is incomplete, and thus, to be lead into all truth, one must go extra-biblical. SDA cannot and will not do this.

That’s a few reasons.

101, I know that you long for a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Christ. Your love of Him is obvious. However, it is a fruitless search while remaining outside of the Apostolic Church that he founded.

nice try again yet you still haven’t adressed anything par usual…now how could He have been talking of the church when He didn’t even establish it yet???

Dear Brother In Christ

I am sorry to hear that you are fighting cancer right now. I can see the ways that you are connected to Jesus through the truth as you know it; and I have no argument with you to present on that.

I want to take this moment to pray for you, to pray that God will heal you, and be very close to you whichever path He chooses to next lead you.

I will pray for you regularly, please PM me and let me know how it’s going if you like. When I was on my death bed years ago; I had a nurse pray for me. She taught me how that in life or death, Christ Is The Door. I am now able to share in the Gift and the privilege of telling others this wonderful truth, so I will just end this post with a loud PRAISE THE LORD!!

Let Us Pray

Our Father who art in heaven, thankyou for our brother’s testimony of faith in you on this forum. We pray that you will draw him to that door only that is Christ. May he be blessed and strengthened in his “inner man” and be ready for your next call, wherever it may lead. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Psa 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

CAF is not your personal evangelization outlet.

The poster you were replying to was, in a heartfelt way, sharing the truth of the Catholic church with you. Do you see the lack of compassion in your response of directing him AWAY from the fullness of the truth and into YOUR understanding of it?
😦

Guess you like laughing at nothing. I didn’t say Jesus was an Adventist. I said He was a Protestant.
** Hi Protestat :tiphat:,
And I didn’t say you did, Did I? You misread something. I also hope you don’t consider Morman’s christians. They aren’t you know? Oh, Jesus was a Jew. His first followers were jewish christians, The catholic church carried word of His church throughout the lands, converting people to follow His teachings. It was doing great for about 1,500 years then the devil took advantage of some very good people and divided the real church. There are now 33,000 counterfeit denominations with 28,000 imitation sub denominations having 1,375 doctunes. Luckly, as the true church the RCC remains firmly grounded, thanks to the HS, and His guidance.👍
The Body of christ has many cancers that in the end will have to be “burnt” off!

BTW, great news! I did a recaluation for you. Jesus “may” be coming tomorrow afternoon around Noon. Remember to get undressed and stand outside. If He isn’t here by 1PM, I probably miscaluated! You could get dressed if the police don’t pick you up first.

It is the Holy Spirit only that convicts anyone of truth. No Church does it for Him
Joh 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

PS I am sorry to inform you; my “ascension robe” is at the cleaners.

101, I sincerely thank you as a brother in Christ for your prayer. I gratefully accept each and every prayer. But, and this is very Catholic, my affliction is a penance that is part of the process of perfecting my spirit, and is for your increase in faith through your prayers. That was revealed to me early on.

At work, there is a woman who does not believe in God. She is praying for me because I told her that God hears her whether or not she believes in Him. She asked her nieces how to pray. She would never have done that when I was well. And thus, cancer becomes a blessing.

I will argue and debate with you who has the fulness of truth as long as I have breath (or you convert), but know that my Chaplain at work is SDA and we greet with a hug and pray together. We’re working on that whole “holy kiss” thing though…:o

I can give him a break. We have argued and argued and he knows much more about Catholicism than when he started. And I know more about the SDA. I’ll take any prayer I can get! 👍

Clearly, the Pope is highly regarded in your denomination, since your church’s official writings includes him as “His Holiness” and other innapropriate adjectives. We wouldn’t come close to calling any other human such things.

You can’t seem to accept that your own Pope actively seeks political legislation to support his Sunday; while Adventists, following the Apostles, and other Bible greats, simply look to Biblical authority to support the seventh-day “Sabbath of the Lord thy God.”
This is true, but what does that have to do with putting Ellen White on par with the Scriptures?

Do you all believe that a person has to speak in tongues to be saved?
Oh, and by the way, the pope does not prophetize.
Oh, I disagree. I think we have had some popes with very strong prophetic gifts.
What comparison or contrast in beliefs did you hope to gain from the quip about sexual abuse?
Just a dig, to keep the focus off the OP, which is about SDA not being in harmony with Apostolic Teaching.
Learn this if you will, men are sinful. There will always be sin in the Church. The Church does not claim to “be Christ” therefore, we cannot be without sin.
I think it is more accurate to say that there are sinful men who are joined to the Church. The sin, however, cannot be laid at the feet of the Holy and Pure bride of Christ.

Eph 5:25-28
Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 in order to make her holy by cleansing her with the washing of water by the word, 27 so as to present the church to himself in splendor, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind — yes, so that she may be holy and without blemish.

The church is pure, without spot or wrinkle. Those sinful persons attached to her may not be.
Are you ever going to tell me who founded your Church?
I would think it would be a great embarrassment to do so. 🤷
Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Jesus did not establish the Catholic religion - only the Protestant one
Seems to me that it was th Pharisees that were “protesting” God’s law, and Jesus, who is God, rebuked them for it…🤷
This is what Adventists do - not Catholics
Seems to me you would have a heckuvatime figuring out what they were, since you have been separated from the Apostolic Tradition for 1900 years. 😉

This is true, but what does that have to do with putting Ellen White on par with the Scriptures?
It is simple. We do not teach that - but the Pope and what he says is considered “on par” with Scripture by Catholics all over the world.

Oh, I disagree. I think we have had some popes with very strong prophetic gifts.

*Hi guanophore:

Actually, I’ve never heard one of our popes referred to as a prophet. I apologize if I misspoke. I would be interested in knowing who they may be.*

I think it is more accurate to say that there are sinful men who are joined to the Church. The sin, however, cannot be laid at the feet of the Holy and Pure bride of Christ.

*Yes, what you say about the Church as an “entity” is true. But I meant it in the sense of a body of Christians.

With warmest respect for what you’re saying, I was catechized to believe that the Church Christ left with Peter is still in tact even though there are “limbs” that have broken away from Christ’s Church, they are nevertheless still a part of it. To say that the Church (body of Christians) is only those confirmed catholic is to separate us from other Christians and leave Christ’s promise to us broken. There are those who left the faith, but that does not negate Christ’s promise that the Church remains. We are not separated from our brethren by faith, only the correct practice of it. I think the scripture you quote can be taken to mean the Church as a body of baptized individuals practicing the catholic faith, not withstanding those who do not. I do not believe you can separate the church from the sinners within it. Since “the Church” is referring to a body of people, not an entity. If you interpret the scripture below the way you have, you are saying that Christ gave himself up for only those confirmed in the catholic faith. I am not on board with that and I know a deacon in my church who made it perfectly clear to me that his Protestant parents were in Heaven. ( I was slightly scorned for thinking otherwise.)

I would be interested in hearing whether you believe our Church teaches that only confirmed catholics receive the benefit of Christ’s sacrafice. Please undestand, I’m not being confrontational. Some of us are not catechized correctly, it’s sad but true. 😦 And I want to make sure I have the correct belief. Incedentally, the catechism is on the Holy See’s website and as I read through parts of it, it seems at times to be referring to the Church proper, but at other times referring to the Church as a body of believers (like in matters of faith, as an entity can’t have faith) I think it’s a matter of context with the catechism and the Scripture. This could make for good discussion among us catholics. It would be a welcomed change from having to defend ourselves.***

I would think it would be a great embarrassment to do so. 🤷

Well, it would be an imbarassment in the respect that the church was founded on the premise that it is the Remnant Church and is recognized as such through the gift of prophecy. No EGW, no remnant church. They would like to sweep her under the rug, but they cannot completely do so. That is why they keep her radical teachings primarily to themselves. Did you know she had a vision whereby God supposedly told her that the Pharisees wanted Mary to “get control” of Jesus? And that Jesus’ “older brothers” were constanly irretated by Him? She wrote these things in a book titled, “Desire of Ages”. She has written some really blasphemous stuff.

It is simple. We do not teach that - but the Pope and what he says is considered “on par” with Scripture by Catholics all over the world.
Yes you do. You even do it on your own website. If posting a written work by EGW on “Steps to Christ” is not putting her on par with the Scriptures, what is?

I think you’re in a hole and you’d better stop digging.

Bent with age as were the traditions of the elders, Catholics continue even now to present the “novelties” which had covered over and set aside the truth in Christ’s day. Christ took a definite stand against these traditions, and an equally definite and positive stand for the truth of God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a festival day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths. Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.(Col. 2:16-17)

Clearly, Paul is telling the Colossians to let go of the Law and the Old Covenant embrace the New Covenant.

So if you are not “continuing even now to present the “novelties” which had covered over and set aside the truth in Christ’s day…” then what exactly are you doing? And Paul is clearly taking a stand against judging someone for the day of the week on which they worship.

It sounds to me like you are following the truth of the Law of Moses not the New Covenant.

I still want to see where Jesus did not give the Apostles authority on earth.
