How are we saved?

PS, What I am saying that you and others do not understand the New Birth. If you are saying it is possible for one to lose their salvation, I agree it is possible, but don’t think it happens that often. You see, it is possible to deny Christ after being saved, as an act of free will. Heb. 6:4-6 gives us the conditions. But sins can’t make us lose salvation because of what Heb. 9:28 tells us. In other words, unconfessed sins do not make us lose salvation. And if one does deny Christ after being saved, he is lost forever.

Do you have any understanding of the spirit, soul, and body of mankind? You would do well to get a hold of this concept. 👍

I am sorry, but I have to take issue with the fact that we can lose our salvation after being saved. I do not have the scripture right at the moment, but we are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Ralph

I have a very good understanding of the new birth. How deep do you want to go? The new birth is a product of how Christ changed humanity when his divine nature became flesh and he assumed a human nature. Prior to Christ assuming flesh, men died and went to the land of the dead. It was through the new life put into us, through our faith in his sacrafice of his human nature, that everlasting life is in us and allows us to have an everlasting life. Does that mean the “ouious” given to believers, placed in believers making them sons and daughters of God, remain in them if they don’t persevere? Not according to scriptures.

Now, whether you realize it or not, you stated a Catholic belief in your post. That is, there are different levels of sins. There is sin and there is sin unto death.

1Jn 5:17 All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death.

Because of this, is there really an assurance of salvation? Not according to scriptures.

**Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 24:13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.

Rom 8:16 For the Spirit himself giveth testimony to our spirit that we are the sons of God.
Rom 8:17 And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.

Php 2:12 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.

1Co 9:27 But I chastise my body and bring it into subjection: lest perhaps, when I have preached to others, I myself should become a castaway.

1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore, he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall.

Gal 5:4 You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace.

2Ti 2:11 A faithful saying: for if we be dead with him, we shall live also with him.
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.
2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, he continueth faithful, he cannot deny himself.

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 Have moreover tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God and making him a mockery.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after having the knowledge of the truth, there is now left no sacrifice for sins:
Heb 10:27 But a certain dreadful expectation of judgment, and the rage of a fire which shall consume the adversaries.**

Maybe we’re in agreement and it’s a matter of semantics that seems to separate us.

Now, can any man tell the condition of another’s heart, or know another’s salvation? It certainly appears that because we say it differently, you have judged Catholics unworthy of Christ’s promises. What I mean is, why else would a Christian go to another Christian forum because thier faith required them to share the good news of Christ?

Catholics have the good news of Christ. All Christian Churches have roots back to the Catholic Church. The Word of God in scriptures came through the Catholic Church. Below is what Martin Luther, leader of the Protestant reformation stated.
“We are obliged to yield many things to the Papists (Catholics)–that they possess the Word of God which we received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing at all about it."
Changes in beliefs only took place through the Protestant reformation and continue to take place, even in the present day, all due to private interpretation.

Catholics have said that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God. It is infallible. Man’s private interpretation is not. What scriptures can you produce that without a doubt could convince us that YOUR private interpretation is infallible over the Church’s interpretation?

I am led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides me in my interpretation. Now if thousands of people disagree over their own interpretations, like you and I do, who is right? Who has the authority to tell the rest they are wrong? Please provide scriptures to support your answer…

I am not sure that I understand your first statement “if there are only believers and unbelievers”, are you telling me that all Roman catholics are saved and there are no “unbelievers” among you, in other words, all are born again. I only project what the author of the Bible (God) has written, when you reject what He says, you are in trouble. I am only the messenger, rejecting me personally dosen’t mount to anything. I have no authority on my own, I am only passing on what He said. PTL Ralph
Well ralphy, it’s not that complicated. You stated it’s your job to share the good news with those that are not saved. Who is saved, or has an opportunity for salvation? THE BELIEVERS. Who is not saved, or has an opportunity for salvation? THE UNBELIEVERS.

Roman Catholics are believers in Christ’s death and resurrection and that His sacrifice was for the sins of ALL. Through His blood, BELIEVERS have their sins washed away. Does just believing save us? If someone believes but continues to sin, are they still saved?

This is the time to ask you for an honest answer to a very simple question. Do you believe that Catholics are believers? That is, do you believe that Catholics are Christians?

What you “project” is your private interpretation of what God has inspired written. The Bible is infallible. Is your private interpretation infallible? If so, show us the scriptures that tell us that YOUR private interpretation is infallible and correct over all others.

Saying your interpretation is infallible is assuming an authority, whether you want to admit it or not.

…As I’ve explained, the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God. That means the Bible is infallible…

Mar 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my word shall not pass away.
So we agree on this much. Do you believe one can arrive at saving truth by simply reading, understanding, and doing what the inspired scripture says?

While it might be possible for some, it’s not the examples given in scriptures. Acts 8, Matthew 22:29, Luke 24:32, Luke 24:45, John 5:39, Acts 18:28 and 2 Peter 3:16.

Why is it that thousands of Protestant denominations have different doctrines if scriptures are so easy to understand? If we took 10 people who never heard of Christ and gave them Bibles, would they all arrive at the same interpretation? If not, which one would be right and have authority over the others to say they are wrong? Please provide scriptures.

Why did you exclude my comments on Christ’s Church?

I suppose all those wrongs don’t make a right eh! You wouldn’t have any scripture to jutify all those wrongs would you. Ralph

Ralph,

Let’s say the two of us are standing by a river and you can’t swim. You fall in and the current pulls you away from shore. I jump in and swim to you and pull you out. I saved your life. If I leave and you fall in again, are you still saved?

First of all, I did not say that the pope was not saved, that is between him and God. When I talk to people about salvation (regardless who they are, or what denomination or position they may hold), my mandate according to the Word of God (the Bible,my authority), is to find out if they are saved or not. I believe that there are only two kinds of people in this world, the saved and the unsaved. Someone came to me and told me of God’s plan of salvation, then after carefully studying of the scripture, I repented of my sin and accepted this free plan of salvation that God offered me. We are God’s feet, hands and tongue if we are born again, that is why we are called to go in His name and be a witness to the world, this is being a good soldier of the Cross. Preaching salvation is directed from the Word of God, if you reject this, then you are not only rejecting me, but you are rejecting the word of God. In Christian love, Ralph
Ralph, I coudn’t begin to explain it any better than you have here. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Thanks. Love In Christ ED

Why did you exclude my comments on Christ’s Church?
When there was controversy, why did no one ever say, “Go ask Peter?” Or why did no one say to the vicar/voice of Christ: “To whom shall we go? You have the words of life”? The answer is clear: no one even considered that Peter was the head of the church on earth.

According to your private interpretation. Scriptures quite clearly show that Peter rose up and stood up in controversies.

**Act 1:15 In those days Peter rising up in the midst of the brethren, said (now the number of persons together was about an hundred and twenty):

Act 2:14 But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: Ye men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you and with your ears receive my words.

Act 8:21 Thou hast no part nor lot in this matter. For thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

Act 10:44 While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word.
Act 10:45 And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also.
Act 10:46 For they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.

Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: Men, brethren, you know that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

Act 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Saphira his wife, sold a piece of land,
Act 5:2 And by fraud kept back part of the price of the land, his wife being privy thereunto: and bringing a certain part of it, laid it at the feet of the apostles.
Act 5:3 But Peter said: Ananias, why hath Satan tempted thy heart, that thou shouldst lie to the Holy Ghost and by fraud keep part of the price of the land?
Act 5:4 Whilst it remained, did it not remain to thee? And after it was sold, was it not in thy power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.
Act 5:5 And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and gave up the ghost. And there came great fear upon all that heard it.
Act 5:6 And the young men rising up, removed him, and carrying him out, buried him.
Act 5:7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
Act 5:8 And Peter said to her: Tell me, woman, whether you sold the land for so much? And she said: Yea, for so much.
Act 5:9 And Peter said unto her: Why have you agreed together to tempt the spirit of the Lord? Behold the feet of them who have buried thy husband are at the door: and they shall carry thee out,
Act 5:10 Immediately, she fell down before his feet and gave up the ghost. And the young men coming in found her dead: and carried her out and buried her by her husband.
Act 5:11 And there came great fear upon the whole church and upon all that heard these things.**

Only those seeking an authority for themselves, or attempting to justify their authority, deny what scriptures show us, in my opinion.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.

Show me an instance where a man appointed/ordained himself in scriptures.

Ralph,

Why did you come to a Christain forum to preach the word of God, if there are only believers and unbelievers?

I am a Christian, as directed by the Word of God. If you reject me, you reject Him. Now, clearly we have a disagreement, who is correct? Show me scripturally how only you can be correct and that I have to submit to YOUR authority? Remember, there are thousands of Protestant denominations all saying the same thing.
ProdicalSon1, This is Ed, I went back to check your method of operation. On post 302 you demand Scripture verification from Ralph, but on post 414 when Scripture is quoted, you then twist Scripture by ASSUMING to make your point. Then on post 445 again you demand Scripture from Ralph. It then becomes a no win situation doesn’t it? When you assume you are adding to Scripture which is a violation 1Cor 4:6 states learn the meaning of "don’t go beyond what’s written’. when you do, it violates Scripture. Prov.30:6, Duet 12:32, Rev 22:18 adds punishment!

Ed do you believe Catholics are Christians?
I’ll answer your question, if you first answer mine, that is, in Rev. 18:4 “Come away from her, my people; do not take part in her sins, or you will be punished with her” Who’s the Her? v7 She lived in luxury, —she boasts I’m Queen —Alas, Babylon that mighty city-- fell. 19:2 He (God) has punished the Great Prosttute who corrupted the earth with her sins, and HE has avenged the murder of His servants". Who is God’s Word talking about? I’ve asked many Magisterium but they could not tell me. Aren’t they suppose to know?

[SIGN]The word of God is known by the Spirit that speaks to the heart[/SIGN].

John 16:8 “When **he (Spirit) comes, he will convict the world **of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”

Luke 8:11"… The seed is the word of God. …15But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop."

Ephesians 6:17 “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
My question was where does the Bible say the NT is inspired
These verses do not say the 27 books of the NT constitute part of the word of God and are thus inspired

The Bible does not tell us what the NT is
So who did tell us what the NT is?
Who told us it had 27 books?
Who told us this NT is part of the word of God?
And if the Holy Spirit who did He tell?

Do you really think you have the ability to interpret revelations? As passed down, these are the interpretation is as follows;

Rev. 18:4 3-24] Rome is condemned for her immorality, symbol of idolatry (see the note on Rev 14:4), and for persecuting the church; cf Rev 19:2.

4 [4] Depart from her: not evacuation of the city but separation from sinners, as always in apocalyptic literature.

Rev. 19:2 [1,3,4,6] Alleluia: found only here in the New Testament, this frequent exclamation of praise in the Hebrew psalms was important in Jewish liturgy.

2 [5-10] A victory song follows, sung by the entire church, celebrating the marriage of the Lamb, the union of the Messiah with the community of the elect.

3 [7] The wedding day of the Lamb: symbol of God’s reign about to begin ( Rev 21:1- 22:5); see the note on Rev 10:7. His bride: the church; cf 2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:22-27. Marriage is one of the biblical metaphors used to describe the covenant relationship between God and his people; cf Hosea 2:16-22; Isaiah 54:5-6; 62:5; Ezekiel 16:6-14. Hence, idolatry and apostasy are viewed as adultery and harlotry ( Hosea 2:4-13; Ezekiel 16:15-63); see the note on Rev 14:4.

You relate these things to the Church yet if you paid attention to the verses you would see the Church is who is giving praises. Do you think they would be offering praise for being condemned? You still have no answers for my previous posts I take it.

Her, Babylon, is Rome.

Now answer my question, as you said you would and one more question. Who do you think Her, Babylon is?

I’m sorry you feel as you do. I viewed myself as trying to untwist the scriptures that had been used to fit a theology. I prefer the approach to fit a theology to scriptures.

The point is, we have a difference of interpretation. Now use the sole authority, as you refer to it, and show me without a doubt that your interpretation is infallible. You’re argument of “adding to scriptures” is a moot point until you show without any doubt that your interpretation is correct. We both have an interpretation, we both say we are guided by the Holy Spirit in our interpretation. This is the problem with thousands of Protestant denominations.

The irony in their accusations is they say the Catholic Church is not mentioned anywhere in scriptures. Then they take some symbolicism out of context to say there is a Catholic Church. 🤷
